neowin video up for download

Its just the strider video but in shaky cam format :hmph:

If they pull this stunt at E3 I'll be mighty peeved! ;)

Oh sweet... thanks for the notice!

Two minutes fo' meh! :)

Well, the visit to Valve pretty much found out that they weren't finished with the e3 movies yet, so I guess it makes sense that what they showed here wasn't new. Just sort of disappointing.

Yep, it's the Strider video, but we see Gabe Newell =]
Pretty much it.

OLD! OMG OLD! I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE WARNED ME

..lol, sadly, that's higher res than the bink that got relesaed :|

Oh wells...

And I guess I'll just assume it looks better on an X800... :)

heh i was expecting a new video too... ;( oh well... sounds like some of the people there haven't seen any hl2 vids before... or at least not that one... oh well, hearing commentary is always fun :D

I would've still loved to see HL2 on that huge screen :)

Guy in audience: "Holy sh--"

Guess it looks pretty good. If it looks better on an x800, I can't tell.

It isn't even the whole video, just up till the second strider comes out, and then Gabe's back like a college professor saying "So, what have we learned about the x800?"

WOO HOOO...

I got absolutely nothing from that.
Except maybe that it looks as good as or better than the binks on the shaky cam version.

Are my ears playing tricks on me or did someone mumble something right after Gabe said Half-Life 2 was going to be finished this summer?

Anyway, I thought it was a cool video, always nice to see the guys (or in this case guy) behind the game showcasing it. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference in graphics quality, but it sure looked nice regardless.

damn, i was hoping it was new. oh well, at least we have 11 tiny shaky cam videos to drool over. if some valve employees saw that thread and how many views it had, they would start spending money as if it were already in the bank. were rabid for that game.

He mumbles, but it sounds like one word.. lol

dissapointing yes... but seeing newell happy for a change actually was rather nice.

Of course he's happy..
Santa Claus is always happy! Let's hope for a early christmas :E!!!

well somehow i missed the strider and coastline bink videos.... so it was new to me... and i thought it was awesome. then i went and downloaded the strider and coastline bink videos and was even more amazed. finals are over next week... i really wish i had this game to play night and day then.

This is SOOOO unfair - they said :"never seen before footage in 2 booths"

LAME\WEAK Valve :(

Are you mumbling about E3 or the video? lol
Just to make sure we are clear, E3 is 6 days away...
That wasn't from E3.

When the view zooms in on the strider there's a noticable quality jump from the binks. Other than that it's hard to make anything out at all. :(

Yep, I'd agree with that - the movements might have changed slightly, but the visible changes don't show anything new. The new detail is very impressive, though.

There is slight changes but

he said the game was running on x800 card.........?

I don't understand, 8 months and no improvement to the graphical structure of the game.........?

I doubt we're going to see any graphical improvements over last years bink videos. They have said they had bad scheduling so most likely they've spent the last 8 months just rewriting source code and just trying to finish game content. I don't think they would have had time to actually add any graphics features.

zzZz 31 second download.. so slow.. its capped @ 700kb/s:(

and its a old movie.. can I have that 2 minutes of my life back please..thanks

Or, more likely, it's a freaking blurry shakycam video. Who makes judgements about visual improvements based on an inaccurate visual representation? Nobody with common sense, I'm afraid.

I'm not even talking about that vid. I'm just saying in general, in my opinion, I don't think we'll see any thing better graphics wise than the original bink videos. Sure there will be different content, but I just don't think the graphics will really be improved at all.

you are right we don't want to make any judgments right now.

E3 will present everything we need. ATI at the E3 will show HL2 on their latest cards. Only then we can see the real differences. :p

I think the most interesting part of that video wasn't what you saw, but what you didn't see. Didn't see Gabe depressed. If he's happy then things must be going well over at Valve, which would mean things are definately looking up.

Strider vid still looks cool though :)

Tired of sites saying theyve got new footage

We only have to wait 6 days till we get new footage

hell yeah!!! :D

hey dont say there wasint something diffrent.... THERE WAS SOMETHING NEW. it was gabe's flab :p doesint he seem abit fater in that video???

I was a bit suspicious yesterday, If there was somthing ground breakingly new, why show it at the windows hardware conference, and why would only one site know about it hehe, anyway there will be new material at E3, and it sounds like there gonna be steaming it straight away.
