Never do mushrooms

If you've ever used psychedelics, you know that the experience of listening to music while sober cannot even pretend to compare. A decade of emotional psychotherapy and a hundred of the greatest albums known to man, is but a sparkle in the eye of 150 micrograms of psilocin.

The only reason I'm not high right now is that I'm afraid I might go in for all that "one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively" crap and then I'll have to face the prospect that I'm in any way related to you people.

Sure, but the entertainment you get out of it is only temporary, much like the medicine we use for a headache, or the hot soup we drink for a cold. These remedies usually cure us of our troubles for only a short amount of time before we are again feeling like a rotting pile of excrement.

Psychadelics do not primarily provide entertainment, though they can be entertaining. They're not party drugs, they provide the opportunity to see the world from an altered perception, and you can return to sobriety seeing things from a different perspective. There is great potential in psychadelics for therapy and mental health, but it's often denied due to the stigma associated with these substances and those who abuse them for selfish entertainment.

This is exactly what I meant to say.

For me personally: I managed to get out of a downwards spiral in my life thanks to shrooms. I actually saw clearly how I was messing up my life.

I turned my life around for the better. I realized how much I had missed playing basketball, and picked it back up with success. It was also clear that I had to do extracurricular activities if I wanted to do the job I wanted to. Finally, I saw how I had been ignoring several of my best friends by putting no effort into the friendship. I started to contact them, and meet up with them to reconnect.

I improved my happiness by working on those things. I can actually say that shrooms are one of the best things that happened to me, and a turning point in my life.

Is this one of those 'look at me I'm so cool' threads?

In essence, but as usual it's a good source of entertainment.

For a limited time, that is. These threads only last a day or two before their inevitable death.

Until then, though, it's entertaining.

I didn't realize I had to do this, but yeah, if you missed the front page somehow, here's what the whole conversation was about in the first place. And I won't pretend to know as much about psychedelics as you guys, but hey, if it helps you turn your life around for the better, go for it. Just be careful not to use them when making a thread.

I'd like to see Stylo back up what he said.

Looks quite the fool as it is.

It's a gaming website, what do you expect but a bunch of banal mother****ers jerking eachother off?

You guys really need to lighten the f*ck up.

"Oh no someone responded unfavourably to that stupid thing I said."

I mean, were you joking? If so then sorry for being a dick, but it didn't really seem that way.

TBH it came across as fairly sarcastic, and a little caustic. Poe's Law, mang.

No matter how long I am away from this site, some things never seem to change.

So with Shrooms apparently not being bad for you in any way apart from the risk of nasty trips, I'd probably try them at least once following the suggested methods and such purely out of curiosity but (in seriousness) I don't see a lot of point in paying money for stuff like that. Maybe it's just me.

This honestly came across as serious? ^ If so, my view of reality is massively distorted. Maybe because of all the drugs I'm doing right now.

In that case, apologies. Honestly it's a little hard to tell here sometimes.

I've never tried mushrooms; though curious, I was kind of put off after hearing about people having stomach problems after them etc.

I had one psychedelic trip in my life on some unknown substance (one of those 'legal drugs' things, I think you can still get them in the UK, they've been banned here less than a year ago). It was terrifying, but I don't regret it cause it was a very interesting experience. I could write up a report later, if anyone's interested (and the mods don't come running to this thread to lock it, because PG-13 or something).

Also, something I watched a while ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAD5htg_9n8

Well, he messed up a lot of things:

  • Amount of mushrooms. He didn't even weigh them. Also, the little parts contain the most psychocibiline.
  • Setting: He took them in a new and unfriendly environment.
  • Companions: He had no real friends with him.

His first experience with mushrooms was positive. Also, he didn't have any lasting effects of this bad trip, which is the worst case scenario.

I would say that feeling bad for a couple of hours isn't the worst thing that can happen. You can also get out of a bad trip if someone sits by you and guides you. Obviously, his friends were unable to do this. That's why you need someone sober with you.
