New Bioware MMO is KotoR: Confirmation?

I don't know how people still convince publishers that their MMO isn't going to die.

Warhammer Online is already in its death throes.

R.I.P. Tabula Rasa
R.I.P. Star Wars: Galaxies

I feel a disturbance in the Force.

tbh the only mainstream developers who can make another MMO safely is blizzard. All the others are rising alot trying to jump in at the deep end.

I wouldn't mind a decent star wars based MMO, but in all honesty...it will probably fail

I think at this stage, even Blizzard will have a hard time competing with Blizzard. They've hit ****ing paydirt and nothing's going to stop that liquid gold from a-flowing any time soon.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if their "new" MMO was on a free-to-play model as well, given how much of a mutual nerd boner they have for Korea now.

I dipped into this story out of curiosity and tbh I'm amazed at the high proportion of people (on Kotaku, at least) who are happy with the idea of micro-transactions.

All these nonsense statements like:
"At least you can play without paying monthly..."
- more like "at least you can spend a few minutes getting ganked by all the people who've shelled out three times the cost of WoW's subscription on Item Mall goodies, before you get bored and give up".

"As long as they only charge for stuff like clothes, etc..."
- right, because EA would completely shit on a potential revenue stream by only charging for stuff that no one cares about.

"OMG d00ds, stop complaining, we have no idea how it will be implemented...!"
- because there are so many examples of microtransactions done well...

None of this affects me since I strongly doubt I'll be touching another MMO. Nevertheless I look forward to seeing EA chuck money on a bonfire, which is what it will amount to when this emerges only to sink without trace. When will publishers stop being blinded by the dream of stealing Blizzard's honeypot...
