I love the cell phone change. No one should be able to use their cell phone while driving unless it's hands free.

Hands free cell phones in cars has been the rule since years in Belgium. Really pressed down those related accidents.

riomhaire i dunno if it's different in ireland but here everyone drives 5-15 miles above the speed limit. usually only going 10 over or more gets you pulled.

Yeah. If you go the speed limit, you get rear ended.

Jesus. And I thought I got screwed over for having to pay $128 in court costs this morning. Thank God I don't live in California.

Hahaha!

Around here if you drive the speed limit, we call you a tourist and we start bitching. If you drive 5 mph over thats an improvement. If you drive 10 over mph i like your driving.

Hell on one of the major roads around here I push 70mph. It's a 55. Cops even do it. I usually drive home from school on our 55mph highway going 80 - 85.

Then again everyone around here is part belgium, irish, and german. I mean most kids around here start drinking between 12 - 14!

55mph on a highway? lol

Belgium has normal speed limits :)
37mph (around that) for towns
60mph for lanes outside towns (but not a part of a highway)
80mph for highways

Yeah, kids don't need seatbelts. They just bounce along the tarmac after flying through the windshield, dust themselves off and wander back to the car with their cute broken necks, and bleeding organs.

Shit, thats expensive as all ****! The carpool lane one especially. But then again, you're a twat if you do that.

I believe that it's illegal for people under eighteen not to wear seatbelts, but I think the driver is probably charged instead or something.

Ours is usually.
30 MPH around town(everyone does 35 otherwise there a tourist).
55 MPH around county roads(you do 60 - 75 or i hate you)

55 is also our highway limit. However you must understand our highways. You see I live in a small town, the highway passes right next to our school. Until 6 months ago our highway use to be a single-lane highway now it's a two lane.

So School + Just Made Two Lane Highway != 85 mph.

No wonder all the street racin azns are leaving Cali and coming here.

The ****? Here's an idea: You can't go over the speed-limit, end of story.

Most speedometers have a 10% discrepancy. Having aftermarket tires, or excessive tire wear, can increase that to 15%.

Instead of punishing people for driving safely and making the roads more dangerous by ensuring people don't concentrate on the road as much as they should (speed limit enforcement), why don't they do something sensible like aggressively police tailgating?

Oh yeah, I forgot - there's more money in speed taxes...
