New Cell Factor Video

Downloading. Cant wait to check this out.

the cloth effect is just amazing, the blood still need some work tho...actually alot of work

do .bink files play on linux [ubuntu 6.06] ? also, how long is it ?

Wow that was insane!

Can you fast forward binks. I love binks but really hate the no fast forwarding shit.

Looks kinda rubbish. A one trick pony, shall we say!

The physics look awsome, too bad it's not coming out til Q4 2k7, this game that is..
I also wonder how these physics will be on the 360, seeing as the game is coming out on the 360 too, that'll be good for comparison.

Looks like fun multiplayer mayhem but too bad those physx cards are outrageously pricey.

Its just a demo video showing off the physics, it even says "combat training" at the end. Don't expect that to be all there is.

Are they out ????

I thought the release dat is May 06

They are out. You can only get them with Alienware and Dell comps so far. They arnt pricey tho. 200$ and 300$ Thats pretty cheap for all you get in my opinion.

That is very very pricey.
I have a job and nothing to spend money on except computer parts, so I'll probably get one (especially if sin2e supports it), but I would be hugely suprised if this catches on among the general gaming public until prices get down. Hopefully there will be integration with other cards (possibly mobos) in the future, which should cut prices by 50-90%.

I believe "Combat Training" is the subtitle of the game, Cellfactor: Combat Training. http://www.cellfactorgame.com/

the video is insane, love the blood, love the liquids, love the cloth expecially... awesome explosions.... looks like insane mp mayhem. cant wait.

Physics cards are cool, but I agree that they're pretty darned pricey. Its hard to afford a good PC already, and then you invent a new part and tack on another $300?

Yeah...just for enhanced physics in SOME games? I'll wait 'till use of the cards are more widespread and the prices come down.

I dont think they are too expensive at all. Its a brand new technology guys. I was suprised they didnt go for $400+. Just save what you can from your paycheck for a couple weeks and you can get one. I may get one, but Ill have to see what games will see big enough increases. Also I may not have time for games soon because im going to a intense school in June.

Anyways back on topic. Im still downloading, but I love seeing these videos. Cant wait.

You guys expect a brand new piece of hardware that has obviously more power than you seem to think, and expect the price to be what, 100$? VIDEO CARDS are more expensive than these PPU's when they first come out. And this is the FIRST PPU on the market, 300$ is a damn fine price.

I don't doubt its power...I doubt the use I'd get out of it for the price. So far the evidence I've seen of being able to use it is nicer explosions in GRAW and being able to play Cell Factor.

I don't understand what you mean, "evidence of being able to use it" ..?

Games are going to start using the PPU, I understand you may not want to buy one yet, and I totally agree with you, it wouldn't be worth it at the current time.

You can bet your last baseball card that there are going to be some seriously fun and challenging and immersive games with this chip. From enhancing action games, or something like, Garry's Mod super duper version, which would be awesome because you could do stuff like bend metal and have dynamically breaking wood, which could make for awesome things like battle bots or whatever, the list goes on and on.

Oh I don't doubt it. By "evidence" I actually just meant of what will be available to use the card for on release but I didn't write that.

I completely agree vegeta, and plus the more users who have a PPU == More Developers that utilize a PPU. Why? The SDK for the PPU is completely free unlike Havok for instance.

I wont be getting a PPU until sometime in 2007 after I have my car and cell phone and a better job.

WTF?
By that time it's going to look like complete crap.

Untill you want to use it for a comercial game, and then you are tied into Ageias offerings, I smell GLIDEEEEE!

Nobody "expects" it to be cheap, but some of us realize that this needs to get cheaper before it will gain much support from consumers and developers. Sure, videocards can be more expensive, but alongside soundcards they also have an infinitely more important job to do than the physicscard.

Don't get me wrong, as a devoted gamer I will get myself a physicscard as soon as games I want to play support them (hopefully sin2e will), but I think we are looking pretty far into the future before physicscards are common among the general gaming public to such an extent that "all" games will support and maybe even require them.

The price must down, preferably through integration.

I'm not upgrading anything else in my PC until DX10... end of story.

Same, I'm saving my money for all the DX10 HW...

Well, first DX10 GPU is supposed to be out in late June/early July, the GeForce 8 series afaik.. But I won't be getting that, I mean, by the time the first DX10 game comes out(With Vista, seeing as Vista's required by DX10), that GPU will already be a half year old.:)

ATI is holding off there Dx10GPU until Vista hits.

I doubt they're going to take as long to catch on as DX9 did. DX10 will be popular in a hurry if only because of the supposedly significant performance boost of dumping all of the old legacy crap. Even if that doesn't pan out, it's still supposed to make coding more unified instead of GPU-specific... making the developer's job easier and the jump more likely. Then, in third, there's the obvious boost in eye candy that comes in every major upgrade. Still, I never said I'd jump the gun as soon as DX10 comes out. I'm just going to wait to see what DX10 has to offer before I do anything.

If I wasn't totally clear, my point was that you will not be able to use DX10 until next year, even if you get a DX10 GPU in June/July. No matter how "quickly" the devs want to catch on, because DirectX 10 is Windows Vista exclusive, so if you get a DX10 GPU in June/July this year, you still won't be able to make use of DX10 until next year, when Windows Vista releases.
And if we think about it, GPUs grow "old" rather quickly imo, so it's better to wait for DX10 to become useable(With Vista's launch) instead of buying the GeForce 8 as soon as it comes out imo.:)

That's what I'm going to do...

By the time Vista comes out, the GF8 series will go down in price as the next guys come in, so it should be pretty sweet deal ;)

Sorry guys, im late to see this Cellfactor and PhysX thing. Actually I were aware of the physics card but I could never ever have imagined it beeing as... wicked as it really is. Gaming is going to be sick within the first two years for us that have been here for some time now. I will probably become a 40 year old virgin playing PC games for the rest of my life instead of anything normal :(
