New crowd control weapon

That isn't true at all, I have seen lots of protests on TV and they are always very angry but never violent. If a protest has to be brocken up and they aren't cooperating too bad, it is their own god damn fault they didn't listen.

do I really need to comment on your statement?

Foxtrot said:
Why would you even protest if you weren't angry?

why would I be angry? for example I went to last years anti-war rally with 30,000 other people...no one was angry. In fact people were singing "give peace a chance"

And come on, they aren't saying they are going to use this on peaceful demonstrations. These tools are designed for when protests get out of control, and the activists start throwing rocks and trying to beat you over the head with glass bottles. If governments wanted to tyrannically end all protests, they could use much more horrendous methods of doing so. Just be glad that they aren't using bullets. Next time you're on a protest, remember, keep it civil.

Quoted for emphasis. :E

Oh god, that is the sickest thing I have ever heard...I could never goto an anti war protest. All the drugs going around, people having sex with people they don't know(gay sex too) and everyone there all thinking that peace is the magical answer that no one ever tried...wtf.

Exactally we should crush our enemies on the battlefield, drive them before us and hear the lamentations of thier women.

oh not another cheesy conan the barbarian quote

The one thing I can't stand about alot of peace protestors on many issues (certainly not all of them though) is that they believe that human beings are meant for peace, that once governments decide to stop going to war suddenly this whole planet will become a paradise. The fact is human beings are not meant for peace, we simply won't allow it as a whole race, perhaps a temporary peace would ensue but I can bet my life that it would eventually dissolve and we would get back into the perpetual violence that has plagued us since the begining of civilization.

To me the only way human beings could stop fighting each other is if we had a different enemy, and no disease and poverty are not the type of enemies that I am talking about. We are a violent people, we are a violent race. We are just unwilling to admit it.

If we really want peace we need to try out somthing from 1984.

well, that's not exactly true ...peace protestors usually protest a specific war or military incursion

jee, and they call the public paranoid  ,, the government seem more paranoid, which is probably the driving force behind the building of these weapons, Control and Paranoia that they might loose their grip of the world.

its uneasing that man can we such a bunch of W***ing loosers. , if not slightly disturbing. :P..

And they usually relate it to the idea of world peace. The specific protests as you said are about the specific war or military incursion, but the beliefs expressed by many of those people involved are that we can have world peace, that they are fighting for a goal (which to me) is out of reach for humanity.

Or...they are making the NON-lethal weapons so less people get hurt...but I guess that is bad thing isn't it Clarky? You would rather have shattered windpipes and broken bones, and a few dead people. As long as the government doesn't design new weapons that are more effective it is all good, right clarky?

hmm, Paranoia will sort that one out Foxtrot ;) :P, its just humans fighting humans for land , control, and resources at the end of the day. nothing more than flying Ego's.

But that doesnt mean I dont believe in control, :)

Even then peace would not stay for long, I see no reason why the government in such a situation would not abuse its power and therefor kill off what could have been called "world peace", and even then there will always be rebel groups, people opposed to such a belief system that would also destroy such a "world peace".

Well...let me put on my tin foil hat...ahh there we go....so want to blow up a few buildings tonight?

I know, but, if we kill off everyone in the whole world except...1 country then that 1 country could set up a government like in 1984 and just make sure their population never increases and they should be just fine.

lol Foxtrot ;). if you want to atleast start on piece you need to stop idleising people, placing them higher than others. and all that crap. we are all in the same boat..

people should be credited for being intelligent and having skills, and talents, but not made more significant or important on a world scale. We are all equals.Yes we are confused about where we stand, but thats because of an outdated system, that is crumbling beneath our feet., you need people that want to unite , not seperate. and hate, you could argue that you cant do that... but thats only because today everything is getting out of hand.

the Human race needs a purpose.. how does developing ourselves as a unit sound,.. rather than glorification of the individual.. it would probably make for a more satisfying life that way... we would probably advance far quicker too

all for one , one for all! :P

Perhaps, but even then it wouldn't be lasting, the human race must expand itself or risk extinction. As soon as we begin to expand from such a situation it would become much harder for such a government to control, in which case rebel groups would again spring up. So we could either die off or eventually start the violent loop all over again. Then again some sort of distant technologies may somehow prevent that, but of course this is all very theoretical.

We can control the population, it wouldn't be too hard. Just brainwash everyone into thinking that they are happy and anyone who isn't will be sent to a re-education center :)
Or with new technology, whenever someone thinks somthing bad about the government they will get shocked!

read orwell's 1984

Seriously, all the people who posted on the last 2 pages should go read 1984. You might be surprised, you might laugh, but you'll probably think differently.

HAHA, just remembered, "WAR IS PEACE"

I have read 1984, it is a good book and it makes some good points. If you live a crappy life but you have always lived that life and it is better then a lot of peoples life and you don't really have anything else to compare except other people like you and people below you then would you think life is bad? I don't think most people would, except the proles...but they seem happy enough because they are free.

That's the point of the book though. Is it enough to live your life thinking it's good? Also, the proles are 'free' not free.
Is someone who is is tricked into thinking he's happy truly happy?
This is where opinions diverge on Orwell's ideas.

Happy is just a feeling, a state of mind, and if you are "tricked" into thinking you are happy then you really are happy.

Well, it's not true, free, personal happiness. It's more of the happiness you get when your mum assures you there are no ghosts.

happiness controls life. Without happiness, we would not be bothered to do ANYTHING. Happiness is a species survival trait.
