New date for hl2!!!!!

I think this whole thing is a traffic generating thing. Some publicity horny dude thought that this would draw attention to the site. Well, it has. congrats. I mean, who bases his news posts on estimated shipping dates on a website? I mean, come on...

Well now austrian planet-hl2 kindly go to hell or publish some real news with actual credible sources that were checked and rechecked
 
I will believe it when planethalflife posts something about it, ya what fragmaster says isnt always necessarily 100% accurate but generally a more reliable source than most websites. It is a wise move when you think about it, but the bottom line is everyone knows they will buy this game when it comes out regardless of the leaked build (which you will never be able to play online) so with that said, i believe theres a 50% chance this story is true.

Tons of stuff has been made up by various sites, all not true. Just for publicity or out of ignorance.
 
If you need that hope or whatever and believe in all these signs then go ahead. It isnt proved yet but in the next few days it will be clear whether it is fake or true.
Just relax. Should regard it as nothing for now, just like online shops switching their dates.

UPDATE: We do not know for sure if the release-date is true or not and we have the information from our member Don Soletti, who stays in the USA for some time. He is a trustful person and not the one who tell lies. According to him this information was very present in the american media (tv,...) and it sounded very reliable. Maybe he get a false information on the HL2-Release. Thus we try to contact him for more detailled information.

The only proof we have is the release-date on gamespot.com
On the Internet-Site of Gamestop the Release-Date is stated on 11/11/2003!

? Very present in American media? I've seen it on two shows on TV and both said it was rumored to be April 2004..

I did a little more digging into the very sparse info on HL 2, and i found that the allegged April release of HL 2 would only be for the european release of the game. So far, HL 2 is still scheduled for a holiday release.
 
but that would contradict what valve said about a release date for all releases at the same time. but then they also said sep 30th. so go figure

wow that is completely contradicting what Fragmaster is saying at the PHL site. These Gamespy guys need to get their perverbial shit together.

Also Planet Fortress doesn't list a source nor do you have the ability to comment. We can only hope that it has some basis in truth but it specifically goes against the fact that they stated a world wode simultaneuos release.

So the current rumor is UK peeps will have to wait months before they get HL2 while the US gets it long before? Screw that, I'll get a mate to buy it for me and mail it over lol

A 4 month difference between European and US release dates for a PC game is quite frankly ludicrous. Maybe on a console, seeing you have to do all that painful NTSC to PAL converting. While most of Europe may have to deal with different language versions, I'm sure Valve has already finished all of that (voice acting, scripting, translating etc.). Hell, the UK would get the exact same version as the US!
 
Why are some of you getting so hopeful about a pre-2004 release? You'll just get excited then disappointed.

Just plan on a 2004 release.
 
Gamestop also says DNF is due out in 3/2004.

all the sites I have been (playes like game.uk.com, gameuk.com and ebgames.com etc) have said Q42003, so I guess it could be right..
 
I think they are only saying Q42003 just to keep people interested and not cancel their pre-orders...

The point of my post was totally lost on you. Surprise right.

My point is Gamestop / EBgames bla bla bla tend to guesstimate release dates. the sooner they offer it the sooner they make money off of it.


They are saying November.
They are saying March for DNF when 3d realms the damn developer is saying "When it's done". So Gamestop knows the release date before the dev's. What a coincidence.

If you take stock in their release dates you will be disappointed.

Well I think it's safe to say that this is a little different, I mean everyone was sure it would be out on Sept 30th, even Valve was saying that, and then suddenly it was delayed. So we have all these stores that have pre-orders and a statement saying April 2004, so what is the best way to keep people from cancelling the pre-orders??? You figure it out...

As far as gaming sites go (that don't sell the game), well so far everyone's been predicting, no one has any solid proof of any kind of a release date. I'm sure if it is for the holidays and Valve is sure of this, then they'd come out and say it. So far they haven't. I think they want to pull for a release date for Xmas but that they just are not sure if they can do it. Hence the silence.
