Minerel said:When people say Halo 2 has no physics, they don't really mean vehicle physics, etc.. But more as HL2 physics where if i shoot something, it will react realistically. Meaning in Halo 2 they most likly mean, i should be able to shoot anything and everything from a feather to a 2 million ton truck and have it respond accuratly without any scripting.
Sparta said:There are ragdolls physics in Halo 2?
AmishSlayer said:Yep. There aren't many objects to interact with because there wouldn't be a point in it. There are destructable objects, some barricades, and some other random stuff. If there were more objects that could move...it'd just be like Max Payne 2. The objects were there...but they played no role whatsoever. HL2 is the first game to actually use it in their game and it seems to fit. Halo 2 has just the right amount of physics interactions if you ask me (for itself - I'm glad there's tons of interactivity in HL2).
-Destructable vehicles (They have a much more real life approach with collisions than even HL2 - watching the Coast bink you see Gordon plow through ant lions and combine soldiers like they were feathers. There's actually a sense of impact and speed reduction when you hit something in Halo 2)
-Ragdoll physics on characters (Halo 2 does it well. They don't use ragdolls if a person is launched in the air by a grenade or something so they can go into a series of cartwheels. They stick with how it's done in Halo. I like this a lot more than usual havoc implementation)
-Interaction with some objects in the game. There aren't that many random objects lying around...only necessary objects (mentioned above)
Sparta said:So the ragdolls are similar to the first game, where its a mix between ragdoll and animation? First they'll play the animation, and then the animation will stop and the ragdoll will kick in?
My only problem with that, is that it was done really bad in Halo. If i was shoot dead on the edge of a cliff, and my foot was the only thing on the cliff, and the rest of my body was lying on nothing, the arms and what not would strecth as if trying to reach the ground and shit. And it looked really weird.
Is this still the case? have the improved it?
Great, this should provide for some hilarity during deathmatches with mates.AmishSlayer said:The animation is only added for explosion deaths. I was happy to see your body will roll off the edge if enough of it is hanging off. What you mentioned in the second part is fixed. In Halo they'd sorta melt the body to whatever was there...it was weird. Now it's a regualr ragdoll that will fall off if the center of gravity is over the edge.

I see you completely ignored the point of my post. It was a (perhaps too) subtle way of saying that I'm pretty sure Halo 2 uses a beefed up Halo engine, not a brand new engine.Mithrandir2 said:oh yea and we all know what a major failure that was. i mean come on... goty in 2001, and 6 million copies sold... what a failure.

Reading comprehension is important sometimes.
Mithrandir2 said:no i totally got what you said. Halo 2 is based on the Halo 1 engine. I don't see how thats a terribly bad thing since we all know what a great game Halo 1 was.
Maybe you should graduate from 6th grade
Neutrino said:I wouldn't really say "we all."
I didn't think it was that great.
Mithrandir2 said:there are many that think it was
Neutrino said:True. And there are many who think it wasn't.
Ughh... you are still missing the point!Mithrandir2 said:no i totally got what you said. Halo 2 is based on the Halo 1 engine. I don't see how thats a terribly bad thing since we all know what a great game Halo 1 was.

I never said the Halo engine was bad! I said, if (IF) they made a new engine, and it looked like that, then that is disgraceful. IF they had made a new engine, then I don't think how it turned out warranted it.
But of course we all know they just upgraded the Halo engine, and that is what I was trying to say.
When did I say the graphics were bad? Never.destrukt said:the xbox doesn't exactly give them much breathing room for having amazing graphics.
