^~~stfu knbubbay. I didn't see it till i read this thread.

Hehe, There's also a thread in 'News and announcements' about it :)

And znipper, the official date is september 30th, I don't understand why so many people doubt it when it's been quoted numerous times.

A nice read, thanks HL2.net staff and all the people who submitted questions :D

Damn, they didn't ask about the release date. :p

We originally asked about the confusion behind the multiple release dates. Why he said Sept 30th yet shops said different dates that had never been heard before. Although the majority of staff felt it to be an important question and from feedback so did community it was taken out by the guy who sent the interview.

Appologies on his behalf :/

from the interview
HL2.Net: The Source SDK was promised to mod developers before the game was released. Can you tell us why the SDK hasn't made a public appearance (and when it is likely to)?

Gabe Newell: Well, the game hasn't released ...

anyone else a little worried about that?

Nope. It's absoutely true. The game hasn't been released yet.

har har. that's not what i meant. he seems to imply that there's plenty of time to release the SDK yet. I just hope he doesn't mean they'll release the SDK in september and then the game in november.

Wow... I'm glad we all took the time to rack up 9+ pages of questions so 3 could be asked :dozey: .

Good interview... just wish it involved more of this community.

To me he just implied that they'll release the SDK after the game has been released.

I don't know, I think people just assumed that the SDK would be released publicly. I've got a video interview on my computer about Half-Life 2 which says that the SDK would be available to Mod teams at a Seattle convention.

But they appear to have scheduled that till after Half-Life 2's release, and are just inviting Mod teams over to the Valve Office, instead.

When Valve said the SDK would be released and the benchmark would be released before the game ships I think they didn't mean that they would be publicly available to download.

I'm speaking on behalf of the rest of the staff here but there were a lot of things to be taken into consideration to see if those questions were worthy of being put into the interview.

Some of the questions asked were actually answered by other posters, some of the questions asked had been asked before, some of the questions asked were all about the person, ie: "I have <insert setup>, am I ok?" - this was obviously not material for a website interview and the rest of them didn't fit in with the other questions being asked.

Although there may of been 9+ pages of questions there were only a handful that we could of used. We could of added more but again, the guy who sent the interview felt it'd be flooding gabe with questions so took quite a few out. We aimed to originally send 20.

I think it was a good interview except for that release date failure.
