From the Prima guide it says its a scanner, but it also says it a Mark II Civil Protection one, so yes perhaps it is a different type of scanner, i mean this is a render not a piece of concept art so . . .

Yeah seems pretty sweet cant wait to see that your admiring the amazing capabilities of source and a bomb drops on your face.

It is. The book says so. It's a "Civil Protection Type II Scanner".

I'd guess it looks different because its not seen in public commonly, so it could be more Combine tech than human tech.

[EDIT]: It says it drops mobile "Hopper Mines". I wonder if those are the things we saw in that old screenshot in front of that wall?

Still, I think Scanners are pussies and I want a different subtitle, a Scanner shouldn't be higher in rank than an Ichtyosaur.
