NEW MODERN WARFARE 2 TRAILER - MULTIPLAYER

Killstreak bonuses usually prove to be what makes me turn off CoD4 MP after just a few minutes. Even hardcore servers have 'em, and I find them incredibly annoying. Looking forward to the 20 kill streak nuclear bomb you can drop on everyone after achieving rank thirty billion.

If you watch the trailer, you see the Anti-Aircraft Launcher, probably since most bonuses will be air support, thats the way to deal with it. Hopefully nothing is too overpowered, like the M16 or the helicopter in cod4

The ground to air missile looked promising in the trailer... right up until the jet or bomber or whatever it was deployed flares and made it redundant.

Least I recall from when I watched it yesterday.

I wonder if they'll toss controllable, armed UAV drones in this time. It would seem fitting. That would be a reasonable alternative to the stupid-ass NPC helicopter that goes around killing everyone who pops out of cover for more than two seconds. I also hope they add a little more weight to the animations this go around, things feel too damn bouncy and light in the original, which is otherwise a solid arcade'y MP shooter experience.

I want this game now, it looks so good!

Which is probably a good thing since it would most likely be a one hit kill, making air support useless.

I should hope that the flares can only be deployed once, or have to be deployed manually by the gunner and even then, there is a limit to how many you have, as these killstreak slots have the possibility to be ridiculously overpowered. The helicopter was a rubbish addition to the game as it was.

Not totally sure I like the idea of these killstreaks, but I'll await further info/footage.

EDIT: Watching it again, I'm a little confused with how this is actually implemented into the game. The footage shows us the player killing people with machine guns and the like moments before the ground is torn apart by what I presume to be gunship fire... yet other sections of the footage shows the player controlling the gunships crosshairs. Is the trailer badly put together in that it's meant to be showing you getting a killstreak yet having someone off screen actually using it? I feel I'm missing something here.

Looks fun.

Also looks exactly the same as Cod4 so ppl who didn't enjoy 4's MP prolly won't be attracted to this.

OMGOMGOMG!!

... lol...

I never really got into CoD4s MP.

But that might be because I don't own it legally and thus only tried MP once.

Looks like Spetsnaz soldiers in the vid. Kewl. Maps look similar to Backlot, Downpour, and Strike.

COD4's MP held my interest for a very long time, if mostly for the amount of things to unlock and the fact a few of my friends played it at the same time so it was always fun to go into a game with a whole team against random folk. I used to really enjoy it, but these days I cannot stomach it at all. On the flipside, a lot of the unlocks don't really seem to change many of the mechanics or dynamics of the game except for a few which take the gameplay a turn for the worse i.e. P90, M16, grenade launchers...

Was very fun, though.

this game is a definite must buy purchase for me. I almost don't want to see anymore because i like surprises so much. everything is shoved in your face nowadays, including the entire movies in a preview

I think they're trying to do a BF2 thing, 1 player can't take down air support by himself, it requires multiple people working together. So one guy fires to force the plane to deploy flares, then a second player fires another rocket for the hit.

Looks ace, CoD 4 was superb and this looks even better. No verdict on the killstreak device, hopefully its well balanced.

PC all the way
higher res, custom maps/mods, better controls :p

I hated the chopper, but I really like the attack dogs of CoD5. That's definitely a better 7-streak bonus than that fucking chopper.

Seeing as you can manually control and fire the AC130's guns in MP, I'm going to say no.

11 kills get you the ac130. What does 20 kills get you? Mini-nuke?

Seeing as doing so will most likely you leave you vulnerable for attack in MP, I'm going to say yes.

I liked CODs multiplayer, but the spawn system is quite frustrating, countless times you wait 20 seconds to spawn in, only to get killed imediately by an airstrike somone called in 5 seconds ago, or the obligatory 3 nade volley spam that people do when they start the round. Some limitation on the nades and pehaps a bit of code to pick a spawn that isnt about to be airstriked would make me happy. I still enjoy it though.

We don't actually know the extent and power of these kill streak abilities, the video doesn't give us much information at all on the subject.

Haha wow they still do that? I remember playing playing cod1 MP and players were doing that. Lobbing grenades over the highest buildings to the enemy's spawn zone.

Looks just as forgettable as CoD4.

I have yet to play a multiplayer game that rivals COD4.

W@W was good, but I love the feel in Cod 4 (heavy CQB, automatic weapons, somewhat tactical gameplay) Cod 4 MP on Hardcore is always fun and fairly intense, which makes me and the people (We try assembling 6 man teams to keep the noobies out) I play with coming back for more.

Tactics usually only exist on HQ and S&D servers, which for that reason alone is probably why they're so ****ing rare now.
COD4's community is full of ADHD ****tards who would rather play TDM where there's really no goals at all.

It's disappointing really, it's an incredibly fun game.

Well it's mostly a matter of opinion, but I just don't care for it. The Counter Strike gameplay type was the only one that really has any value because it was the only one where dying has real value. Basically you run around until you get shot or until you see some one to shoot, and you most likely won't have any idea what killed you. At the end of the day I just feel like I've run around a whole bunch while some one used me as target practice and I occasionally used them as target practice.
