New Project Offset trailer

Nice to see some new footage!

If he's a boss of some sort I reckon it'd make for an interesting fight! :D I wanna see more! :(

The lighting shadows and glowing particle effects look amazing. It's been quite some time since we've heard anything. Good news.

been waiting for this game for like 3 years!! can't wait to see more

Man, I wish I could get excited about this but there has been so little news of any sort for so long, I think I will wait until something more substantial comes out. It looks good, but I am terribly fearful of what sort of rig will be required to make it look like that...:(

What happened to the teams(The team behind Project Offset) own custom GPU?

Did it get cancelled by Intel after they bought the team?

Can't wait for the next tech demo in 2013. That's all these developers seem to be capable of.
Seriously, why hasn't this been listed as Vaporware yet?

It still looks pretty amazing. I hope the full game eventually sees the light of day, how many years has it been?

I think we're up to 5/6 years now since the first trailer, I can't remember if that was when it was first announced.

When Intel announced that they had canceled their new GPU--around the time this trailer was released--they also said there would be more info on this game later this year.

Granted, but when video of this game was first shown - sometime before the 360 launched - the game was very early in development. It was basically nothing but ideas and some 3D models.

does this come for pc?

Last I heard it had only been announced for PC, but the game's been in a nebulous vaporware state for years, so nobody really has any idea what the specifics are at this point.

Well the ****ing idiots have done it again:

PROJECT OFFSET CANCELED.

Intel purchased Offset Software to improve our game development knowledge-base and to further Intel's visual computing technology development expertise, helping the company offer robust products, support, and tools to customers. With the recent changes in our product roadmap, some of the resources and technologies from the acquisition are being re-applied to help support new graphics related projects. Additionally, other Offset Software team members have moved onto other external projects outside the company.
Source.

Great. So an incredibly promising looking game gets the shaft and the devs move on to form a small studio and the vicious cycle repeats itself (potentially). Intel can suck a dick from now on imho.

I think it was all hinging on Larrabee, but that's as good as dead.

EDIT: Just read that article.

I didn't even know this existed.

Well, what do you expect when the technology ain't making much of a progress to handle games of that caliber. Crysis is the prime example of that. It's been out for years and people still can't run it even with today's hardware on its highest settings without suffering from performance issues.

You know, I was just thinking about this game yesterday, imagining how awesome it would be when it finally gets released. It's shit like this that has made me primarily a console gamer in recent months. All the good PC games are getting massively delayed/cancelled.

The game didn't look awesome.

It had a good graphics engine, we have no idea what it would play like, or anything really besides what looked like a generic fantasy setting.

I'd probably be sad that this was canceled if I had thought about it in the past four years

The game didn't look awesome.
Right, because this doesn't look awesome:

Oh really?

You know, I just remembered that Intel is part of the PC gaming alliance... Why bother being a member of a group you can't support? Epic and Microsoft are too, but both of those companies have also shown they don't give a shit about PC gamers.

Right, because this doesn't look awesome:
I said it had a great graphics engine. Doesn't make the game itself great.

Oh really?

A heavily scripted, uninspired gameplay demo from three years ago? Sure, that sounds reliable. Considering they haven't released any gameplay video in three years, and Intel deemed it a good choice to cancel the project... it leads me to believe the game was shitty anyways.

Oh come on, you can't say the game didn't look awesome.

I never said that, but I'm just saynig, intel probably had a perfectly reasonable business-related reason for cancelling the project.

Remember, at the end of the day Intel is a corporation whose main priority will be sound business-decisions.

This sucks :(

I love the look of the engine, shame it's never gonna see the light of day!

It had potential to be good, some of the features and stuff they talked about on the forums was really interesting. Class based, team based with objectives, vehicles, siege weapons and magic powers all sounds like it would have made a very different multiplayer setting at least.

Do Intel own the rights to the game and everything? Is there no way the original devs can pick up the pieces?

I think the reason people say it didnt looked that is cuz many games had achieved graphical level very near to this game

considering all the years from the first trailers

where I can see all the stuff they released?
