I think IW is trying to break away from the COD name with it.Modern Warfare 2 isn't post-apocalyptic, it's a sequel to Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, for some reason, here anyway, they've named it simply Modern Warfare 2.
http://www.qj.net/Rage-won-t-work-well-on-three-DVDs-but-Doom-4-will-says-Carmack/pg/49/aid/133245Last year, id Software generated some... rage for the shooter/racer hybrid Rage when the issue of the Xbox 360 version being gimped due to the lack of disk space cropped up. id has since clarified that the decision to split Rage's 360 version over two discs hasn't gimped it in any way.
But why only two? They would have been able to fit in more textures if they went with three DVDs, right? Perhaps, but id co-founder John Carmack says that the nature of the game doesn't allow for it to be spread across three DVDs.
We would love to set the thing up where it filled one Blu-ray disc versus three DVDs, which is about the right mix, but the game just…we can’t cut it into a third like that. We can cut it into two pieces. We’ve got two large wastelands on there. We just couldn’t make an arbitrary cut.
Although the two large wastelands featured in Rage requires a two-disc split, Doom 4, on the other hand, will not have the same restrictions.
Doom 4 is being set up so that it’s almost certainly going to be cut up to 3 DVDs versus one Blu-ray. At least they’ve got the ability because of the way it’s structured.
Rage is currently scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next year. No target launch has yet been announced for Doom 4.
I wonder if the PC version will support GWFL for achievements
Um it's not called MW2 it's called COD:MW2
Aye. Honestly guys the box art does not lie http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/Modern_Warfare_2_cover.PNG
Are you guys joking?
It seems there are no original ideas anymore. Few and far between anyway. It's the information age. Everything is influenced by something.yeah... the world and style looks pretty identical to fallout 3. What was it they say in the trailer? " But the automic war was not the end as people predicted." Remind you of something :-P. If it's a good game i'll get it, but I can't help but notice it looks like a fallout 3 copy.

The developer also said he believes Rage engine, id Tech 5, will run on the iPhone 3GS.
id software can compile the game code, and have it ready for 4 different systems overnight: PC, PS3, 360, Mac
How genius that is, particularly for a company that licenses game engine technology. So you can build a game and with very little modification, sell it for 4 systems.
And now I'm hearing iPhone 3GS as well, though this would require more specialized assets obviously.
Maybe you don't understand. Carmack said he believes Tech5 will run on iPhone 3GS. That does not mean it will run the full graphics capability.... even the consoles can't do that! The developer also said he believes Rage engine, id Tech 5, will run on the iPhone 3GS.
I think Rage looks much more interesting than Fallout, and I really dig the art direction TBH.
I hope it's good, but I am skeptical because I'm not crazy about I.D. and hoping for something that deviates in gameplay and story is probably asking for a lot when you look at their other games.
Sounds awesome.ign said:As Willits explained things, in the near future it's learned that a comet will smash into the Earth and destroy all life. An ark system is set up so people can take refuge below ground and emerge when it's safe, and when they come back to the surface, they discover not all life was wiped out. The player is then tasked with figuring out exactly what is going on in this unexpected, generally lawless society.
