I dunno, it sounds like a pretty big romanticizing of the past to me. I've almost noticed an increase in movie quality since the invention of the blockbuster. A lot of shitty movies/shitty sequels have always been made...they just get forgotten.

x2. T3 was by far the worst of the 3 movies, but the ending definitely left an opening for the machine war in a sequel, which I wanted to see!! But it would be hard and even crappier for a movie to be entirely about a future war against machines with no known ending...i mean, they said in T1 that John Connor does conquer the machines, and was about to destroy Skynet when Skynet sent the original Terminator to destroy Sarah, but still...the war lasts years, which would could not be covered in a movie without removing a huge chunk of this future history...
