My god... that's like the number of the devil, times 100

Wouldn't really know where you could obtain it (legally or otherwise), I got lucky and snatched it an a LAN or something. Best bet would be to (NOT!!!) check around for a torrent ;)

yeah i can download the tracks anytime but i was looking for the original :p

If it is like Meshuggah I will get it. Tool has some good stuff I have heard it before. They are some weird ass metal though.

That's where I got the impression the new album was going to be more metal, they said they got inspiration from Meshuggah, and I'd heard they were metal of some variety... maybe I'll have to give em a listen.

The only influence Meshuggah gave them is a little riff on some of the intro's, that's all. If you are after a heavy album this won't be your cup of tea.

Nice album, but I think they did not have to fill the entire CD. Many songs reek of the "we have to publish a 75 min album" symptom. Too many of the songs are fillers, and non of them are even close to the filler quality of Aenima.

Overall, I was kinda dissapointed. As a lifelong Tool fan who's sunk a lot of money into their CDs and concerts, this album falls way short. It's never going to be my favorite, breaking the phenomenon where each new Tool album was better than the last.

rosetta stoned is freaking cool.

Alrighty then
Picture this if you will

10 to 2 AM
And actually eating up an old box of Krispy Kremes
And my need-to-know potion.
I was just outside Area 51
Contemplating the whole chosen people thing
When a flaming stealth banana split the sky like, wide open.
I never expected to see it in a place like this.
I do believe I spilled a diamond sundae
Or something wet on my Birkenstocks
And [you're yelping]
Holy ****ing shit

Then the x-file beings who were like
some kind of blue-grey [Jackie Chan]
With Isabella Rossellini lips and breath that reeked
[They're wicked-shot terrorists all by making the sound]
abananadabanana so when I opened up my bug eyes, my gaping jaw and my sweaty lower and upper lip
And all I could think was
I hope that my partner here doesn't notice
that I pissed my ****ing pants

So alive in this way
Like an apparition
You have me crying out
**** me
It's got to be
Dead head
Chemistry
The blotter got
On top of me
Got me seeing
E mother-****ing T

And after calming me down with some orange slices
And some fetal spooning
The ET revealed to me his singular purpose
He said you are the chosen one
The one who'll deliver the message
A message of hope for those who chose to hear it
And a warning for those who do not
Me, the chosen one, they chose me
And I didn't graduate from ****ing high school

You had better...
You had better...
You had better...
You had better listen

When he looked right through me
With somniferous almond eyes
Don't even know what that means
Must remember to write it down
This is surreal
Like the time they floated away
See, my heart is pounding
Cause this shit never happens to me

I can't breathe right now

It was surreal
Like I woke up in Wonderland
All sort of terrifying
I don't want to be all alone
When I tell the story
And can anyone tell me why
It was a repeat experience
will I ever be coming down
This is surreal
Finally it's my lucky day
See my heart is racing
Cause this shit never happens to me

I can't breathe right now

You believe me don't you
Please believe what I just said
See they're telling the truth
And this wasn't all in my head
See they took me by the hand
And invited me right in
Then they showed me something
I don't even know where to begin

Strapped down my bed
Feet cold, eyes red
I'm out my head
Am I alive am I dead
Can't remember what they said
God damn shit the bed

hey hey

Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position
Such a heavy burden now to be the one
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see
But I forgot my pen shit the bed again
Typical

Strapped down to my bed
Feet cold and eyes red
I'm out of my head
Am I alive am I dead
Sunkist and Sudafed
Gyroscopes and infrared
won't help the brain dead
Can't remember what they said

God damn shit the bed

I Can't remember what they said to me
Can't remember what they said to make me out to be A HERO
I can't remember what they said to me
Can't remember what they said

Don't know, oh no (repeated 12 times)

Lateralus for me. Most of my friends who listen to Tool prefer Aenima.

Has anybody got Salival? That's worth picking up just for Pushit Live.

Pushit Live is just ****ing awsome, along with Third Eye live.

Definitely getting into this album the more I listen to it... I love it so much!! :D

This is exactly what I thought when I first started listening to it, but it's really one of those albums you have to listen to alot and get a good feel for before you can form a solid judgement of it. I still think some of the "filler" stuff drags on a bit, and it doesn't feel totally solid as an album, but the songs are so brilliant that I could listen to them all day.

One criticism I can make is that Danny Carry didn't kick as much ass as I thought he might on this album (exception for a few tracks, Vicarious for one). He seems a bit lost on some of the more spacey tracks... Justin Chanceller really excels with his bass work though, I can't get enough of his playing.

Salival

I don't know what planet you guys are living on but Salival is still very much available (at least the DVD version). For eg

http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=508767 there's also a link to the DVDs for Parabola and Schism, well worth buying. I can't believe any real Tool fan would have had trouble finding Salival, I see it in the shops all the time, and hasn't anyone heard of eBay?!:afro:

The new album is also fantastic.

Then you are wrong.

Still found it funny though. There's a great review of Avenged Sevenfold on there too somewhere.

Obviously not with the silly points of the review.. :p

I just don't like Tool much, I find them to be in the same bag as NIN - boring and by and large pretentious. .

I can see what you mean by pretentious, but then I dont go for the 'hidden meaning maaaaaaan' stuff. I just think its cool music to get wasted to.

Fair enough. They're just not my thing. A lot of NIN fans and Tool fans are very evangelical though, which turns me off them even more..

No offence ment to you :)

It's very funny and as it's a comedy website I don't think it's meant to be taken too seriously. Most rock journos are just frustrated (ie failed) musicians and if that was written seriously it would just look like the guy's really bitter and jealous. But as I said it's actually very funny.

On the other hand this http://www.stylusmagazine.com/reviews/tool/10000-days.htm review is probably serious, bit odd considering the guy used to be a fan and now seems to despise them. Saying that though, I loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers until Blood Sugar Sex Magik but everything they did after that was totally boring. I wouldn't write a review about it though. You have to like someone to give them a proper review. I wouldn't get my mum to tell me what she thought of the latest Tool album and she wouldn't ask me what I thought of the latest opera CD she just bought.

I think you either love or hate tool, there's no real middle ground.

Methinks you don't really know what a review is. :p

I think this album is great! The slower, longer songs are wonderful if you want to zone out. Tool is very original and I have always liked the weirder side of music.

Instead of getting all bent out of shape about the profoundess, or message, or deeper meaning in music. Why can't people just say, you know... this song sounds good so therefore I like it. Your life will be much easier, and less cliche' if you do. :p

Sometimes people like to get more out of music. I don't take time away to listen for any 'other meaning', but if I can hear it, then I'll accept that it sounds good. Theres the music itself, and then something else that goes with it. Why complain? You're getting more for you're money, or whatever. It's not much to look out for. To me, its just stuff that makes me go 'Huh, cool.' Someone has just looped together 3 tracks from the album that all matches up together. I think its the whole 'Wings' part of the album. It all ends at the same time or something, I haven't read the whole story behind it. In the end, its something else to listen to. I ain't complaning. The way some stuff matches up in their music, it'd be silly to say they don't do it intentionally. Well, its possible they don't, but the whole 'Wings' thing that has been unearthed recently is too much of a coinceidence. I'm sure they've done it a few times before on other albums, too. I think.

EDIT: I wouldn't say life would be much easier if you didn't try to listen for any more of the album beyond, if you will, the album itself. Its not like it takes years and years to find hidden stuff in music. :| Like I said, if you can get more out of brilliant music, go for it. More more more.
