In the next month or so there will be a number of Valve products being made available on Steam, but this week we'd like to spotlight a game that is being built using Source.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has been announced, and is being developed by Arkane Studios. Everyone around Valve played most of the previous Might and Magic games, and we're all big fans of Arkane's previous work. Like a lot of gamers, we're looking foward to playing the finished product.

We'll also be releasing Half-Life: Blue Shift on Steam next week, which will be automatically playable by anyone who owns Half-Life 1, including those who purchased the Half-Life 2 Silver or Gold packages.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo!

HD pack
Vort=good
Agrunt=cartoony, can't be taken as serious
humans=way better
zombies=really different from Valve's design. Gearbox are saying here:Valve, f*ck your zombie, ours is better
Weapons=improved though the snark is farly different(see above)

All in all. I say no to HD.

it didn't mention anythign like that did it? (the HD pack)

Blue Shift is being released - not Blue Shift Source. This is great that Valve can do this - I've read many a complaint about this in this forum and others. This isn't Lost Coast or even the new CS:S model, but still a really good thing to happen.
Hulk

!!!
Yay I get to be barney again!

"Shouldn't you be guarding a coffee and donuts somewhere??"

So lost coast is still a month or so away :p

This is good news, I never got around to playing blue shift so it's a nice little bonus :)

Well, Blue Shift is a nice surprise. I'll put off the play-through of it I was going to do untill it's on Steam

What's to say he doesn't have it?

Heh, I thought he said "On steam."

Still, if he doesn't have a copy of Blue Shift, I would wager he doesn't have a copy of HL for the PS2. I can STILL find Blue Shift in stores, but I had to get HL PS2 off ebay.

oh man!!!! :bounce:
very good news.
i been wanting to play Blue Shift for a while now so this is definitely welcome news.

what about the HD pack? it doesn't really matter to me but i would like to know.

Wow...

But it won't add multiplayer or anything. It'll just be able to upgrade the regular HL graphics.

A number of Valve products....

That must mean The Lost Coast and mabye DOD:S aswell!

Oh dear god.

Maybe they are going to release them all at the same time. That would be cool :p

About Dark Messiah of Might, it looks like a great source game! I hope Valve is going to release a new game pack to buy(Dark Messiah of Might + Rag Doll Kung Fu + Sin Episodes)

Why are they releasing this BS now?

It seems little odd. Most likely a decoy to divert our attention away from the fact they're holding back the lost coast until the new ati card is out. No i won't be fooled by this simple trickery.

Truth.

lol and what are you going to do about it?

Instead of being happy you get BS for free you are complaining again, some people are never happy.

Already have it :D

Although in my version all the models are the same as in HL1.

Wow, best update news for a while this:

First up we have an excellant looking RPG coming out on Source, cant wait to try that, im currently playing through Neverwinter Nights and its great. Its nice to see Valve are raking in the licensed games now :D.

And of course the news that my favourite Half life addon in coming to Steam, brillant news cant wait to see the enhanced engine on Steam and now that Valve have got their argument with Gearbox finished we can look forward to OF:source and BS: Source, HD Pack Source?

The next month will be great: Blue Shift, Day of Defeat Source, Lost Coast, New Counter Strike Source Model, Aftermath? Its a great time to be a Valve Fan rejoice, loads of new games are coming. Only downer is my best friends Steam account was hacked :(

It's just more Valve BS. But this BS is better than no BS.

Get it..bs = bullshit=blueshift=..get it?

nobody gets it ffs, jesus i'm sitting here laughing my loser ass off and nobody gets it.

This game is BS.
haahahahahahaahahahah

and now that Valve have got their argument with Gearbox finished
What argument?

They're waiting until to release their FREE TECH DEMO until their marketing partner has a card available at retail that is able to run the 40 minute mission in it's full glory? Shocking!

I'm seriously beginning to think you people are putting way too much stock into Lost Coast. It's a tech demo. It's going to be short and made specificly to show off new technology. Seriously, anyone anticipating it bad enough to get angry and conspiritorial about delays is going to be sorely dissapointed, IMO.

I don't have BS and have Decay ;0

The argument between Gearbox and Valve is obvious:

Them not allowing Blue Shift on Steam for years, Valve canceled their excellant looking and almost complete CZ which we will never play :( and Half Life PS2 also the HD pack not being allowed on Steam.

that argument

The complexities of the Gearbox / Valve relationship is less about any disagreement they may have had and more about the fact that Gearbox are simply a larger developer working on their own projects, rather than the unheard of start-ups they were back in 1999. To go and make an expansion for someone else's game would be a smaller profile job than they'd be willing to do now. Back in Opposing Force's day, their money would be the left over from Vivendi and Valve's share. Now they develop their own games and take whatever the publisher alone doesn't take. An expansion is fairly hard work (especially if you have to meet the level of the original high-profile game), and their team is better allocated to their own projects.

I don't honestly believe there IS any Valve / Gearbox disagreement. Not allowing Blue Shift / Decay and the HD pack on Steam is the smallest of petty things to get huffy about in the world. Even if those things were released over Steam, Gearbox isn't going to be making any money from them because like BS, they'll be free for HL owners. They're hardly going to be losing any sleep over legacy games they can't and won't make any money from.

As for Condition Zero, perhaps it's a bone of contention. I haven't followed the story. But then, I'd actually be inclined to say Gearbox would thank Valve for releasing them from the burden of doing it. CZ is an extremely low developer recognition title, and since dropping it, Gearbox have gone onto far, far more lucrative, better things: a PC port of Halo, and a completely in-house stand-alone title.
