It's true, I've seen screenshots.

I'm not going to post them here, because obviously they've been leaked, and that would make Blizzard very angry indeed.

I can however tell you that...

...the new Horde race...

...is...

TUNE IN NEXT WEEK!!

Only joking, it's the Blood Elves.
And yes... they're the new Horde race!

I'm so excited right now I could eat my own arm with anticipation. I honestly can't wait for the new expansion pack, it' sounds amazing! Not long now till Blizzcon, and all will be revealed, including the new Alliance race (hopefully)...

Don't know who the Blood Elves are? Here's a pic from Warcraft 3:

Oh good, something sechsier than orcs. :naughty:

hmmm bet on the day of release there'll be a million plus Blood elves across dozens of servers ...heh time to fire up WoW and play a bit before xpansion comes out

Seriously? I was expecting Goblins long before Blood Elves as a playable race. Now I really don't have a clue as to what the new Alliance race could be.

something about this feels wrong to me... They better have a damn good story for the blood elves being on the horde side. That said, i always liked the blood elf knight like unit.

I too have seen some screenshots, but have heard nothing to totally proove/disproove them.

QT to the F. Heehee finally my avatar has some significance in a conversation.

I refuse to play WoW until Nerubians are introduced as playable characters.

Man, I remember back when WC3 was still in initial development, they were gonna have tons of races - Elves, dwarves, humans, orcs, undead, night elves and the infernal race I think. Then they cut some of the races down :(

o_O

I understand how they'd be Horde, but... what's the Alliance equal?

Either way, I don't think new races are being added. The two new "races" are the turbo car race and the jet gyrocopter race.

Ummm... why wasn't this race included originally? seems like laziness to me

ummm... This is how all MMORPG's work. You might as well say something like this:

Why wasn't the HL2 expansion just included with the original game? Seems like laziness to me.

So people will play more so they get more money...

Anyway... the funny thing is races only add a few racial abilities which is a miniscule difference compared to the variations created by the classes... so w/e

You're missing the point... not only do they look damn cool, but every race has it's own unique feel. A new race will add a trumendous amount to the game, because there will be new characters implemented all over the game world, new styles and fashoins, new native Blood Elf areas to explore... the impact will be huge, and that's just one new race. With the Alliance one too...

And possibly new classes too.

I was hoping the Blood Elf would have been a class.

Personally I believe Priests and Paladins need their specs switched.

Remove the shadow spec in priest's trees, give it to Paladins (with more melee shadow buffs / melee attacks / auras), add a new creative tree for Priests which compliment their Holy tree, like Holy Form or something, where he's like the ultimate support class.

Paladins need to be simply darker, like Warcraft 2 Paladins.

Two new classes... Blood Elves and some sort of Necromancer class.

How the hell could Blood Elves be a class? It's a race! That's like saying "I want a Gnome class!"

its gonna be a race not a class

Yes, I think he knows that.

If they are adding another class (which seems likely) then what will it be? Necromancer kind of thing seems quite likely although there's already a 'dark wizard' kinda class with the warlock... hmm.

Well, Blood Elves are more of a sub-sect of the Elves / Naga.

You lack creative spirit!

Night Elves are the only "True" elves... after their haven was destroyed, the Night Elves split in three. Most broke off and nestled in Kalimdor, where they grew the World Tree. The nobles, in their arrogance, were engulfed by the Malestrom, hideously changing into the Naga. The rest travelled to Azeroth, but because they were too far from the World Tree / the magic that keeps the Night Elves immortal, they faded and became High Elves.

And of course, the Blood Elves are simply the last remaining High Elves left alive. When I say "Blood Elves", I might as well be saying "High Elves". High / Blood Elves are a race... you can't just "choose" to become one... it would take years of bieng away from the World Tree, and seeing as Elves are now mortal, they would die before they could fade to High Elves :p Therefore, it is impossible for Blood Elves to be a class. Even if it WAS possible, it would be limited to only Night Elves, which is just silly.

This is really cool, and it was the furthest thing from my mind. Good surprise. :)

that's a fake right? not fuzzy pandas!!

well there is a panda character in warcraft 3, but that was a bonus level thing

after all i've seen today, i don't know what's fake or not anymore :(

I could believe the Blood elf image, but the Pandaran picture looks extremelly fake to me. I mean I think that is just one of the standard Pandaran avatars from WC3.

I am more inclined to believe the blood elf stuff too considering there are pictures of their starting area floating around and those would be far harder to fake than the character creation screen.

Why would Pandereans be on the Allies? Refresh my WarCraft memory.

Dunno. Sui will tell you I expect. :p

I think that picture's probably fake. I mean if you were on the character creation screen, what would you click on - blood elves, or pandas?

why would Blood Elves be on Horde side? They are seperate from the Alliance but have nothing that binds them to the horde. I agree though, if anything the pandarans would be on the same side as the blood elves/illadin

True, but then the same could have been said for the Forsaken IIRC. An alliance between them would be more likely to form out of mutual gain.

Blood Elves didn't particularly enjoy the treatment by the Alliance.

I suppose we could expect to see the blood elves in a similar situation as the forsaken then, in that they start off with only neutral with the rest of the horde factions and only friendly with undercity. That would work for story i suppose, however it would be a bit imbalanced in terms that it makes it harder for the horde to get the other race mounts. A minor problem but i've seen people whine over more.

reasons why this is probably fake.

1), Blizzard aren't lazy. I'm 99% certain they have a decent Blood Elf background instead of this shit Orc one.

2) that Panda icon looks crap.

3) The sleeves on the Night Elf do not have a back part.

4) there are not enough polygons on the model to make it look like a player.

5) all races start with SHIT clothes to begin with; this Blood Elf has royal gowns, which looks just like NPCs would wear.

6) The description, to the side, goes into detail about how the Blood Elves want to feast on Demons. Someone who's reading a discription of a race couldn't care less about what they like to eat; they want to know about the race. This discription is fake.

7) There is a very high possibility there will be a new class. If this is true, the Blood Elves would *definately* have this class. In the picture, there is no sign of a new class.

8) It's entirely possible that the Blood Elves would have a unique physical attribute that can be altered, seeing as most of the other races have a "special" customisation. This Blood Elf only has a...

OH, FOR GOD'S SAKE, IT'S FAKE ALRIGHT!!!

*Edit* As for the pandas...

The pandas are simply a joke by Blizzard. Admittedly, the Panda Brewmaster is a damn cool WC3 unit, but seeing as the panda has ALWAYS been used as a joke I'm pretty sure that a panda race is ALSO joke created by Blizzard. Plus... expansion packs are supposed to encoarage people to buy the game... by adding Pandas, Blizzard are effectively saying "HEY GUYS! BUY OUR GAME, IT'S JUST ONE BIG JOKE!"

OH, FOR GOD'S SAKE, IT'S FAKE ALRIGHT!!!
Well there is going to be a new starting area (Blizzard representatives have said this) which probably means at least 1 new race. Add on to that the fact that there are Blood Elf starting zone pictures floating around with very new and unique architecture that seems to fit perfectly with the WoW world and it seems likely that Blood Elves are the new race. That entire character selection screen could be fake but that still doesn't mean Blood Elves won't be a new race.

I still think though that if there was going to be a new race it would have been goblins. I could seriously picture a yellow neutral race banner going down the middle in between the Horde and Alliance characters on the new character screen. Blood Elves and Goblins could easily be the races on that banner.
