newsites carry HL2 beta sshots

I noticed a news site today linking to a site with HL2 screen shots from the stolen beta running on a nvidia X800. Be aware that these links are listed as HL2 screenshots and are not new but rather from the beta. I wont post the link so please dont ask; it's not worth it anyway as some of the screenshots have missing textures and visible bugs. The news site in question didnt even mention it was from the stolen game source and was disappointed to see some areas of the game I've never seen before.
 
Hmmm, the nVidia X800? Never heard of it ;) Does it have anything to do with the Radeon X800? :D

so what? how many people here have avoided the beta at all costs? you could easily stumble into the screenshots like I did without meaning to.
 
It sucks...luckily the only sites I visit are this, PC IGN, and 3dgamers.
 
yeah, game looks even 'nice' with the X800pro so don't bother watching them.
 
I'm not exactly sure what the point of this thread is.

Warn us about a site , not giving a name or a link. INTERESTING!

how can I give a name if it's against the rules to post links of beta screen shots?

It's very simple to avoid this: if you see a news link from today that says "Hl2 screenshots" avoid it
 
Ok.

I'll just avoid every HAlf-Life 2 related site for the rest of the month!

So I should click on any link that says "brand new exclusive screenshots of HL2 running on X800"?
 
Just give us some not-so subtle hints Stern. Just don't give the link.

There's nothing special about them, they're just the E3 2003 scenes run through with an 800XT. No spoilers. At least the ones I saw (...somewhere...on Neowin) are like that.

no they're not...there are many scenes from areas I've never seen

BTW, IMO the gaming sites which shows these beta-pics are a bigger problem than thoes who playes the beta.... :/
In a way I see it as a bigger crime...

That's a very nice one. The lightning immitates reality almost flawlessly.

Half-Life 2 really does look awesome... as long as the screenies aren't official ;)

Seriously, when did it become okay to post links to leaked build screenshots of any kind? Was I gone that day or what?
 
Sorry, i just want to slit the throat of anyone who uses the rolling eyes smiley. It's a problem i have....
 
I think i have seen some of the shots he is speaking about.

It's a thread discussing the X800 screenshots and someone posted screens from the e3 level bugbait in the alpha and then someone posted screenshots from someother levels no one has seen, but tbh not alot you could tell about the later ones.

Well umm considering that screenshot is early alpha material with unfinished texturing, effects, and probably various incorrect settings (in fact half the map is unfinished) I think you should look at what IS finished, not stuff in the background that will be changed. If you should be looking at these anyway :/

this is what I was trying to avoid by starting this thread warning people that there are sshots floating around
