NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams officially announced for Wii!

I never played the first one seeing as I didn't get a saturn but I heard it was fantastic so I am looking forward to this.

YES

I thought this would never happen. . Sonic Team treated this franchise like it was sacred. . .

probably cause they've destroyed all the other ones. . .

probably cause they've destroyed all the other ones. . .

That's my concern. Why the hell is NiGHTS being made by Sonic Team US? They've produced nothing but shite over the last few years and couldn't be further removed from the original Sonic Team that made the name famous. 'Hey, let's send NiGHTS over the pond so the yanks (no offense) can rape it like they have Sonic'. NiGHTS should be a labour of love, a chance for Sega to show they still have it - passing it over in such a way hardly fills one with confidence.

But .... NiGHTS confirmed \o/ :)

It'll either be great, or one of the sourest moments in gaming.

Who else is going to make it? Sonic Team US IS Sonic Team. There's no "Sonic Team Japan," as far as I know. Seriously, among the remaining teams at Sega, who would YOU get to do it? And as I said in the other thread (why DO we have two threads for this?) Iizuka's working on it. Oh, and Iizuka's been the head of Sonic Team US since 2004, so you can blame lumps like Shadow the Hedgehog on him, and he's not a yank. :p

While that might not seem like comforting news, at least he was a designer on the first NiGHTS so he should know at least a little about what made it a good game. And anyway, Sonic and the Secret Rings got good reviews, so at least they're getting better.

Plus Naka didn't want the damn thing. So you really had no one else who'd take the project. It was Sonic Team...or it wouldn't get made.

Actually, Sonic and the Secret Rings is actually a very solid title as far as i've seen and heard. Besides the soundtrack, it's defintaly gotten the series back on the right track, and it was a Wii title.
If sonic team kept it's notes from that game, this one might have a chance actually. . .

Isn't there already a thread?

who would YOU get to do it?

As far as I know, Sonic Team, or whatever they were called previously (AM8 according to wiki), has been around since late 80's / early 90's. Other than in name, I don't think the current Sonic Team has much/anything in common with the team responsible for NiGHTS, Samba, PSO, or the decent Sonic games. I can't think of a game they've released since 2004 that wasn't shite.

It's good that Takashi is involved, but i'd rather AM2, or anyone else really (what happened to the guys from Smilebit?), being involved over Sonic Team US.

Smilebit's doing sports games. AM2's really only ever done two things: racing games and fighting games. They did Afterburner and Virtua Cop, but everything else...fighting games, racing games. Oh and Shenmue (but that's pretty much a fighter with RPG elements).

So really there was no one else. At the very least we know it's unlikely the game'll be mediocre; it'll either be great, or it'll be crap.
