SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea on Tuesday refused to rule out a pre-emptive attack, even amid signs it may be willing to return to the nuclear bargaining table.

The North poured out anti-American rhetoric — a tactic it has used in the past before entering negotiations — by claiming that Washington's "hostile policies" led it to develop nuclear weapons as a deterrent and warning against any attack to dislodge its leadership.

"The United States should be aware that the choice of a pre-emptive attack is not only theirs," the North's official news agency quoted the state-run newspaper Minju Joson as saying. "To stand against force with force is our unswerving method of response."

Is this that amazing foreign policy on the part of Bush that seinfeldrules was talking about? Or let me guess, this is Clinton's fault? Bush calling them out as the Axis of Evil has nothing to do with their hate for us.

ha.

If they touch one American they get crammed. There are more than one ways of waging war, and there's a good chance the American public can be persuaded to support it.

they'll attack before they are attacked ...kinda like what bush did in iraq (even thought it was utter crap)

what's the saying ..."an animal is most dangerous when in a corner" ...or something like that ...the US can only push so far till they either call their bluff or defend themselves ...Iraq has given despots world-wide the idea that having nukes is the only way to defend themselves from bush' little "freedom crusade"

Yeah, they get crammed; after they blow up at least 4 nukes in this country. Arrogance is bliss.

A fair point, but in the grand scheme of things, whilst there would be horrendous consequences in the US from an NK attack, North Korea would no longer exist after a US nuclear retaliation.

But why does that matter? You think they give a shit? The whole point is that Bush is set on removing their government anyway, hence them not ruling out a preemptive strike and not caring if the country goes down with them.

He wants to stay in power, not make a point.

The US have stated in the past that they wouldn't rule out a pre-emptive attack on North Korea, so I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Personally, i say we blow them all to hell. However, it'd prolly be best if we(the US) be the ones to retaliate instead of initiate.

edit: we wouldn't even have to use nukes... just drop a couple MOAB for a bit of that Shock and Awe thing...

North Korea dont need to have nukes to launch a pre emptive attack. They have enough artillery trained on the South Korean capital, Seoul, to raze it to the ground with a 30 minute bombardment.

The whole point is that Bush is set on removing their government anyway,
1. Is that a bad thing in your eyes?
2. If you feel the need to call me out then do it in a PM.
3. It sounds to me like the NK's are merely using the US as an excuse to invade. What do the NK's think we will invade with? The 30,000 troops we have in SK against their 5 million man army. Riiigghhhttttt.

I find it amazing that people would actually blame America if NK preemptively invaded SK. You are buying right into their propoganda.

Nuclear missiles don't go that far, at least not Korean ones. We could kiss goodbye to Japan though. IMO, this Korean situation won't lead to war, and if it does you can probably blame Kim Jong Il. He's completely insane.

from what I have heard and read about him(kim jong il),his character in Team America isn't far from the truth..scary isn't it?

what is to stop him from doing to others what he would love to do to the US?

if it does lead to war, Bush is to blame. and his insanity.

btw, in the ROK constitution, i've heard that NK citizens are ROK citizens. so, US nuking the korean peninsula wouldn't likely happen.

Bush isn't that much of a warmonger. If he was, we would probably be at war with those poor French guys right now. If a country has nuclear weapons and intent to use them, no rational leader would wage war with them. Bush is not insane. Kim Jong Il is like 4 foot 6 inches and wears like 1 ft tall platform shoes, how can he not be insane?

so you think that short people are insane? :E

anyway, President Bush thought that iraq had nukes, so he invaded. so he must not be rational and is insane.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that he didn't think they had nukes. The point of the controversy behind the war was that Bush manipulated facts. Besides, IIRC Bush said they had biological and chemical weapons, and just wanted nuclear weapons (that ones actually true, but Hussein was no where near acquiring them). It's completely different. It's not Kim Jong Il's shortness that makes him crazy, its those goddamn shoes!

You're from Korea? Do you play StarCraft?

he really should get new shoes...

and, i'm from the ROK, i do play starcraft. so, yes.

Ha! I knew it!

*Joe bows to his new master*

Oh wise one teach me you 1337 ways of StarCraft... On second thought I should get some sleep. Its 4 a.m. and I got to get up in less than 3 hours.

its 5pm here..... and, i'm better at warcraft3. starcraft, i don't play it much anymore.

anyway, where were we?

now, Imagine that you were a small country. you have this huge imperialist country trying to destroy you with hi-tech weapons for your beliefs and power.

what would you do? i would defend myself. :)

See look what happens when you go and legitimise insanely dangerous tactics!!!

I mean its bad enough that Bush is a belligerent munter, but from all i can gather Kim ain't much better. Seriously, if there is a god, save us from these idiotic world leaders and their nukes.

15357 is not from the DPRK, they ban the internet with some huge firewalls, just like the Chinese do. all a bunch of weirdos.

National firewalls are not difficult to bypass. Doesn't work in china if the person trying to break out knows anything about computers.

AFAIK, 15357 is where he says he is.

ok i guess either we have been fed a lot of disinformation about how poor the DPRK is, or 15357 is wealthy enough to afford the internet - perhaps part of the ruling class?

*cough* sattelite *cough* phones *cough*smuggled *cough*from*cough*china*cough*

edit: no i'm actually Kim Jong Il...

now stop talking about me! it makes me feel sad.

anyway, lots of people in DPRK do have computers.

Yup, you can get the BBC by proxy, that's what I was doing.

Although they are constantly trying to block proxy access.

Your average joe doesn't know of anything beyond the great firewall though. In fact not that many know it exists.

tell us how it is there, is it true you have to cut your hair very short, is this true, I heard also there are a lot of people in nk who sell human flesh on the markets, oh and do all the games come out there in the store or do you have to download them. And arent you afraid that if the Nk government finds out about what you are doing, your going to camp-22. Oh yeah and is it true that if someone commits a crime three generations have to pay for this, and that if someone in a street commits a crime, everyone in the street is punished.

How do you know what missiles they posses? How do you know they haven't got a couple of nuclear subs hanging around in the pacific ocean?

Are we talking about the great firewall of china here? I heard you can see it from space.

i know for a fact that every morning, peasants on vast collective farms in north korea are woken from their communal living quarters by huge megaphones blasting government propaganda - wake up its a beautiful morning! you are doing the great north korean country a service by producing our food! wake up! you belong to the greatest country on earth - go to work with joy on your face! wake up! etc etc....

all this while old kim jong il sits in his comfy palaces watching hollywood movies (apparently hes a big fan), with hundreds of concubines at his service 24/7.

man has he got it made :p

sounds like hell for the others though...

Yeah, I heard Team America: World Police was his favourite. Was that movie officially banned in NK anyway?

meh you all swallowed bush's bullshit propganda that led to the invasion and systematic destruction of a nation and it's people ...and you're a "free" country ..so dont judge

I doubt anything other than official NK government movies would be allowed anyway. I really hope old KJ did see it though. Would be hilarious to see his face. :E

i think cold war isn't over, the NK got those nukes from russia, and if anything happens with NK russia might back it up (agian) but i might be wrong

Not only that, they asked the Czech Republic to stop showing it there.

My apologies, next time I mention you I'll pm you. The reason I mentioned you was so I can get your reaction on this; if you think this is good foreign policy I would like you to defend it as frankly I think you are the only one here that will with at least some reasoning.

No, removing the government wouldn't exactly be a bad thing if it was done right. However, that will not be able to happen for a long time if ever. What Bush is doing is trying to scare them which clearly won't work. Again, that is horrible foreign policy. Bush reminds me of all the cowboys here that say just blow them to hell; who cares if 10 million of our own civillians could die.

What Bush is doing is trying to scare them which clearly won't work.
Bush is actually taking a much softer stance with NK over the last few months. He is the one out there pushing the 6 nation talks, and he recently proposed that the US would be willing to negotiate bilaterally with NK if they would participate in the talks. I am not saying that we should invade NK, I am saying that we should take an incredibly hard line on them. It would be foolish to keep appeasing them time after time. They will keep asking for stuff, get it, and then rebuild their nukes a few years down the line and repeat the process. Its one big scam.

But what did it take for him to finally do that? Bush knows he can't do anything at this point and we have absolutely no leverage on them. The only ones that might be able to help would be China by doing pretty much the same thing Clinton did in the 90s; economic support and sanctions.

But what did it take for him to finally do that?
He has always been pushing for the 6 party talks. He did not want to take part in bilateral talks so that NK could walk all over us again. Bush is completely right in that regard, if anyone should partake in bilateral talks it should be the two Koreas, not NK and the US.
