Yes, well, recently, sinse maybe a week or so back, my computer likes to restart sometimes when I click on My Computer.

The window pops up, I can see my disc, then I move my mouse around 1 cm on the screen, and my comp locks, waits one second, and hard reboots itself. When sending an error report to Microsoft I get the answer that it's a "Driver related issue". The only driver I've changed, and updated, not manipulated, is my video card driver for my radeon 9800.

So somehow this error seems not to be related to driver issues.

I might also add that this indeed ONLY happens when I click on my computer, and it only happens at random times. I'd say every 5th or 6th time I click it. I do this quite a lot so I get two or three reboots a day, which can be quite disturbing.

I hope someone's heard of this and can help me. I'm not a n00bie but step by step guides are always apriciated ;).

Edit: This is also the only issue I have with my system.

Weird. You could always try formatting. Did you install your radeon drivers properly? Could be that they're damaged somehow and lock when tying to load something that the mycomputer link only loads.

Yes but it only happens at random times when I open it. And it seems to open fine, and THEN lock.

I'm asking because it is, indeed, wierd. I've never heard of anything like this myself :). Anyway, I may try and clean my system of drivers and reinstall. I have gone through two seperate versions (The latest one now) of radeon drivers sinse the problem started, so them being damaged good to start with is out of the question. However, seeing as how I'm lazy, I just install them over eachother.

This doesn't seem to be a problem because everything else is working fine, but it may (or may not) cause my current issue. So you got any links to them driver cleaning software?

hard reboot? you mean that your comps electricity is suddenly cut off and powers down?

i thought it was a soft reboot. :|

No, as in it restarts itself after freezing, like you would see when one would overheat, only that is not the issue here.

Thanks reaktor4.

Edit: I'm starting to have a feeling this is a harddrive related issue. I may have some bad clusters... Or a faulty drive. Not that it's not working perfectly but I can't imagine it being anything else. First thing's first though, new display drivers on the way.

Edit 2: Drivers have been cleaned, reinstalled and are fully working again.
The problem seems to have stopped, although I still deem this very suspicious. If the problem reoccurs I'll be back here yelling and stuff :) Thanks for your time guys.

The error has appeared once again. Same symptoms as before, and I haven't touched my system sinse I reinstalled my drivers.

So what the **** is up with this mess? If you guys can't solve it I'd be happy if you could direct me to a more "Hardware/Software Nerdy" forum. I just can't live with occasional restarts.

I would try reverting back to a display driver that worked before. I think you can download older ones from teh ati site. If not, I think i have everything from 5.2 on my pc that I can host for you to download. Just PM me and I will host them for you.
