Official Bad Company 2 thread - no beta talk here!

I want this game so bad. The only thing keeping me from buying this is how well it runs. I never got a beta key to test the ****er out.

e8400 @ 3.8ghz
4gb ddr2 ram
ati 4850
vista 64bit

hows it looking for me dudes?

You should be fine. I pretty much have the same specs apart from the gfx card.
I got a GTX 260 Core 216. Have my E8400 OC'ed at 3.6GHz.

Nice, I guess I'll buy it then.

March is an expensive month :(

This is so ****ing frustrating. Everyone around me is getting the game unlocked right now, while for some unknown god damn reason, my copy is getting delayed 1 entire day.

I thought id never say this, but **** steam. This doesnt make any god damn sense.

anybody know what this war tapes option is?
under sound settings.

I'm finding this game pretty hard to play when your in a random squad or it puts you in a squad with one other person. They either sit back sniping and you're forced to run a long distance or you spawn on them and instantly die. It's a lot of fun when I'm playing with people that know how to play, it just sucks that my buddies aren't online all the time.

Try and recruit people you know to play on our server.

anyone else prefer Rush to Conquest?

in conquest, it seems like people just run in circles...... "yes we capped A but OH SHIT we lost B".... proceed to B and lose A again etc etc
I like how focused the gameplay is in rush

Everything went smooth for me, which is great except that it's not going that smoothly for a lot of others, leaving servers pretty empty at this point. Had a good tank fight on a desert map though, very fun.

That's been how most people have played Battlefield since Day 0.

I finally got some game time in after completely reinstalling punkbuster and updating my video card drivers. Pretty good times, but it makes me sad to watch video of people running super high framerates. I turned nearly everything down to low and it was still choppy. I think it's down to my processor. AMD xp 5000 has been trucking along for a while now but it's just not going to cut it for this hog. It's certainly not unplayable, but I'll just leave it on medium and get bogged down by action times. Maybe I'll upgrade my crap at some point. Also I hope they do a lot more with the servers so I can connect more than one out of every 10 attempts...

Holy hell I love this game already. The weapons feel much more smooth and precise than in beta, and it seems to be that the feeling is just better overall. Quite enjoyable to mow down two people with an SMG at short range, dodge around and knife someone else in the back, pick up an LMG and mow down two more at medium range. Can't wait to play more tomorrow!

currently almost lvl 3, added a few new friends and now we pwn! we won every map together and it was a blast. the weapons are much nicer than the beta and overall i know this a polished game i'll be wanting to come back to. its such a shame so many good games come out back to back for the ps3. but i may just skip FFXIII for the time being, and same with GoW3 for a bit.

Genuinely looking forward to getting my mits on this game.

SP may be 'lacking' but I dont care. The MP is way more fun than MW2.

I just love being able to do something as simple as blowing a hole in the wall, changing tactics completely when defending a point etc. Just create your own sniper vantage points via blowing a hole in a roof.

The fact that the environment changes as you play is awesome. The buildings stay destroyed throughout the match, so levelling every building means no cover. Awesome.

I'm not sure, but I think you can't shoot small arms through standard walls like you can in MW, so you can actually take cover, but you can blow the hell out of them which is infinitely more satisfying. I also had someone bring down a building on top of me which was pretty scary.

Is Bad Company 2's SP just as bad as playing Unreal Tournament 3's SP??

i keep hearing bad things but i liked BC1's SP game

It's much better. UT3's SP was such bullshit, I don't think you could even consider it a campaign. BC2 at least has scripted sequences and levels that aren't just the game's multiplayer maps with bots. It's not really great, the biggest problem is its obsession with cutscenes; there's seriously a cutscene every 5 minutes, and they seem to make even the most insignificant events into cutscenes. It's really intrusive and there isn't really any consideration for immersion. But at least you don't have a collection of CTF matches with bots trying to pass itself off as a singleplayer game.

lol How do you even compare the two? UT3 barely had a storyline or any progression.
It's one arena battle after another. Not to mention that it is a jump and run space shooter.
They have nothing in common whatsoever. So, no.

Still another 12 hours till unlock for EU. For christ sake, why are we 4 days behind!?

i don't think you should be able to spawn right on your squad mates when they are near an enemy, doesn't seem fair.

mom uk your the hates

what?

Anyway, game unlocks in 10 hours for me

Seems to work fine so long as the teams are evenly matched in skill/intelligence. A squad that sneaks behind the enemy can wreck shit if the other team is too stupid to fully take them out.

I can't think of anything more satisfying than someone camping out in a room waiting for their squad to spawn... then tossing a grenade in the window to have it blow up just as they pop in. I did that last night and it left me with this warm fuzzy murderous feeling.

It also blew the walls out.

It was pretty fantastic.

You know, it seems like this is much more scaled down than BF2. Maybe it's just the removal of superfast jets or slower respawns on vehicles, but it just seems like there's less empty space and everyone's sort of face to face. Maybe it's just me though. The low-vehicle maps still seem like they're massive just because you have to run around everywhere.

Heere's another random thing, why are the UAV controls reversed!? Who's idea was that? I mean granted it's pretty easy to fly, but why on earth would you switch it up from a normal helicopter?

CANNOT believe I have to wait another day to play this, today, yesterday and the day before we effectively days off for me too :(

Something else I just remembered since I'm telling cool stories:

I was in an Apache as a gunner (did they take out the guided missles? for I had none) and the pilot was zooming around all fast, so I couldn't hit a lot... but then we just happened to line up on this buggy zooming through the desert and I unloaded on it resulting in a super cool flipping-through-the-air explosion that we flew by. We were shot down like 20 seconds later by those damn ultra powerful AA guns on that map, but it was still cool.

Also, does anyone else notice that no one uses voice chat? Maybe I'm just used to all the L4D voice chatting but it's awkwardly quiet. But the spotting is much better than it was in BF2... no menu, just point and Q.

I actually enjoy the rose comm, but this system isn't bad at all.

Tried to find the hl2.net server last night...no go. Master Server wouldn't even populate. I assume they crashed or something. So I went to playing the night with SC2. Mmmm

I found it and favorited it, but it was empty.

I've posted to this thread too much.

it encourages team play though, plus have you ever taken out an entire squad by yourself?? its a blast

i have not....i HAVE spawned in an abortion of a situation plenty of times though

communication is key. i like grabbing a partner and doing a 2 man smackdown on the enemy team. go to your base, grab a heli or tank, and become a party pooper. if you a better driver, lead the way, if your a better shooter grab that turret. either way if you play and do your own thing you might as well snipe alone.

Yeah it's brutal when you spawn on a squad mate and he's just run past a grenade or someone just shot a rocket at him... and you show up just in time to stand face to face with an explosion. Basically any time a squadmate is running and you spawn upon him...it will be dangerous and you will probably be dead. I personally enjoy base spawning because I like defending and I like vehicles. I only spawn on squads if like... we have no points and capturing is the only way to be successful.... or they're in a vehicle and I can be safe.

Starbob is probably one of those snipers. I hate those kinds of snipers.
