if you quit a game, it should still give you the synopsis menu where you can see what patches and points you earned.
 
Patch seems pretty good. The "hardcore" filter never seems to work though. No matter what it is set as I get hardcore matches. The 40mm grenade is pretty weak now too. Almost not worth using unless you have a perfect shot or some cover to blow. It's nice seeing medics using other things.


Anyone think that flying a helicopter is ridiculously hard now? It's almost too hard to miss with a tracer... then it's over. Fun to do though... just terrible to be on the other end.
 
Only difference I really noticed was the repair time on the tool. Mg's still feel like 100 bullet sniper rifles and 40mm still easy to use.

After I stopped thinking this as a competitive game and more as a arcade fun the game started to feel a lot better.
 
I like the balance changes as well, if nothing more than to get people to use different weapons.

Also, is it just me or is the sv98 the best sniper rifle by far? (I haven't unlocked the m95 yet) I can't seem to hit shit with the GOL one and all the others I can't seem to kill anyone when I shoot them. With the sv98 though I can almost always get the bullet drop correction right with the notches in the reticule and it's a 2 shot kill at most.
 
I use the SV98 because of the fast reload and the larger clip. It's gonna take 2 shots to kill anyone in non-hardcore regardless, might as well get the gun that can put two shots down there the fastest. Plus it just feels like it's easier to maneuver.
 
I find the m95 too bulky and noisey. I'm actually a big fan of the GOL, it seems to do the job perfectly for me. Bit annoying the clip isn't as large as I would like.

The shotgun (spas looking one) with the long range shells and high damage perk is so lethal. Really slow reload times...but you should only need 1 shot.
 
I think I'm about to unlock that one. My top gun is actually the Saiga shotgun, it's so great for close quarters fighting, usually base defending or assaulting inside buildings.
 
Any one going to be playing sometime soon(this evening)? I seem to get massacred online.
 
Anyone else think that the vehicle-less maps like Arica Harbor (on conquest) and Nelson Bay are the most fun? Especially Nelson Bay, I've had some awesome fights there.
 
vehicle-free maps tend to favour medics a bit though, their 'weakness' is meant to be lack of ability to counter them.
 
Theres definately something wrong with the hit detection. I just got one guy off guard shooting with stationary mg. I knifed him 5 times from behind. After the fifth hit he just turned around and knifed me. I had like 100-150 ping on that server. Sick :d
 
The knife is broken, this has been known since day #1 of the recent patch. Don't try and knife people from behind it won't work. Try checking out the official UK forums sometime. DICE people do post there.
 
i've knifed people from behind and it's worked. lots of times. i've also had problems but hey, once again, that's lag for you. everyone is playing a different paced game depending on where they are or what they're connection is - this is evident in like... every online game ever.
 
I once tried to knife someone and did that 'slash' animation instead of the stab one and it still killed them outright. It's really screwy...
 
Had a a guy about to charge into a house, see me, run back out, strafe across the side, we met at the window. And then he knifed me THROUGH THE WINDOW.
 
Knifing for me is a last resort. Unless I know I can get a free knife kill then or I'm out of ammo, then I'll shoot bullets.

This is a new bug, introduced by the patch. Its pretty bad, as the video demonstrates.
 
Is it me, or is the M60 still as fucking ridiculous as ever?
 
The knife detection is dodgy sometimes, but overall I think I'm getting better hit detection than in BF2 and 2142. Most of the rage comes from being knifed by an enemy that covers 5 meters in one leap while knifing. Strangely I never notice me doing a big leap forward when I knife.

I miss the old separate-slot-knife though. Before you had to take a risk when knifing, it was a display of supremacy over the opponent - "I may have well shot you in the back, but I chose to make it a little harder for myself". In CQB most people did not pull out their knives, because they panicked and sprayed their firearms.

Now the MMB is a panic button to push when you find yourself right next to an enemy.
 
m60 seems pretty ridiculous still. I think they should increase the spread of all light machine guns, pistols and a bit on engineer and assault rifles. I'm constantly getting "sniped" with guns that shouldn't have that sort of control at long ranges.

Lately I've been doing a lot of sniper/shotgun action because the motion mines are great. But I'm starting to get upset by how few assault people just throw down ammo boxes. When I play assault I'll toss one down whenever I stop for a moment. But sometimes I'll have to go hunting for an assault class, he still want throw one down, so I'll knife him to try and get his attention...sometimes they finally figure it out...

You see one on the ground and you go running up to it only for it to vanish because the assault dropped it elsewhere. They should either give you a certain number or give you unlimited but have a longer cooldown... instead of like every 5 seconds throwing one in a new place.

The Balance tweaks are as follows:

Slightly increased the damage of the UZI at long range.
The AKs74u now has more felt recoil when aiming.
The G3, VSS, and all SemiAutomatic rifles now settle slightly faster between shots when aiming.
The PKM, Type 88LMG, G3, An94, and 40mm shotgun have returned to their former glory.
Increased the damage of the MG3 to bring it in line with the rest of the LMGs.
Fixed a bug where the Saiga12 with slugs would do too much damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where the SVU would do too little damage at long range.
Fixed a bug where M95 rounds would not kill armored targets with headshots.

The tanks do have coaxial MGs, it's one of the vehicle specialties you have to unlock, which gives the MBTs the coaxial MG and the IFVs the TOW launcher. If you bought the game when it came out (Limited Edition) you already start with this unlocked.

Damn, no balances yet for the unstoppable Duracell bunny armies, aka "medic trains". Seriously, fix that, medics are hugely overpowered.

- Remove short period of invincibility on the guy getting revived by a medic.
- Give shock pads only 2-3 revives worth of "ammo" and make it refillable by ammo boxes or increase cooldown to 10 seconds.

The devs have said they haven't touched/thought about the first point.

Do you know which one of the unlocks it is? I have every one (and yes I do have the limited edition).
 
it's just called vehicle secondary fire, or something similar to that. it's not difficult to find alongside the other perks for vehicles.

gives the uav a machine too which is very helpful.

On a side note, I notice a bug with the M1 Garand - none of the stats are recorded on it (like overall kills with it, accuracy precentages, etc.)
 
Looking forward to this! The original BF:V was great fun, played it loads. I hope its got the music in the vehicles again :D

That looked like it could easily be done in any of the jungle maps that are already out. I wonder what they've actually added.

I've been playing again a lot lately, trying to get all the weapon bronze stars.
 
pretty excited about this. DICE have proved they can re-stoke the battlefield multiplayer fire, so it's going to be interesting to see how they go backwards and starting putting their shine onto a whole era of different weapons and vehicles. whilst i love the hell out of bc2, it's really in dire need of some new weapons, vehicles, unlocks and maps right now. what better way to do it then actually fleshing out a different time instead of just throwing in some stock guns from the last 10 years and making more generic russian snow power plant maps or whatever.
 
OH MY ****ING GOD YES. This shits all over bloom company 2: spacemen edition, fun factor of trailer alone. Vietnam is by far my favorite BF, and they just HAD to play Fortunate Son. I'm so goddamn glad we're done with space men. Thank you DICE, even if you lied through your teeth about 1943 for PC and I hate you a lot and I hope you burn cold Swedish, big-boobied hell.

BF:Vietnam's sound and art direction are the best I've seen in an MP FPS, hands down. What an amazing, atmospheric game. Listening to 60's songs while swooping in on VC outposts in blackhawks mowing down every moving target. Zipping between trees and popping eagle-dive headshots. Oh mai the mammaries. memories.
