vice city deserves a mention for consoles one of the best games ever, along with goldeneye

I only got to spend about 20 minutes playing it but i was ****ing amazed. I seriously think this game is possibly even the best game ever made but I cannot give that award from 15 or so minutes of gameplay. Definately a system seller since I still want to buy a game cube just to play that one game (sold my old cube a while back)

Sorry, but it has revolutionised the FPS world, and it has set the benchmark for every over FPS since. And all have failed to even match it - and we are over a year past it's release.

One of the easiest ways for other games to surpass it is graphically - and IMO no game has done that, and most agree with that.

Secondly, no game has met the standards set in terms of realism, particularly in terms of interactive physics.

Oh, and I do not believe this is going far off-topic, as it is highlighting the very reason I voted 'Other'

I was just very disappointed with HL2, mainly in the AI department.
I was just expecting AI that could outsmart me.

And again, HL2 did not revolutionize anything... simply improved upon, but of course it's all a matter of opinion I guess.

"Doom 3" and "PC Game of the Decade" should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Especially when games like Grim Fandango and Freespace 2 came out in the same decade.

Anyway, i'd probably say BF2 by default because thats the only i feel deserves it out of the nominees (FEAR was really disappointing). I haven't played Civ 4 but i hear thats awesome.

Best Overall GOTY for 2005 : RE4 easily.

While its not the best game ever like most of the universe thinks, its certainly kicks supreme amounts of ass.

lol no? i think so. You will see as we get more and more Doom3 expansions. just like they did for D1 & 2. this game is not going any where but up. I ****ing love this game. I can play it and play it.

I asembled my own sound mod from the best of the best sound mods currently available. i can upload it somewhere if you guys want

I can also zip my favorite mods together with a readme and upload that too. Mods - not cheats.


and ive only heard of Grim Fandango and Freespace but never played them or seen them so of course they couldn't be a part of my small list of possible winners I will take a look online for these games now though. thank you.

pretty slim pickings this year

BF2 ...despite tons of bugs and patching nightmares it's a lot of fun

although my vote would have gone to Oblivion if it was released when it was supposed to be (/me eyes xbox360 and Microsoft)

BF2 was the worst (that I played) in my opinion... Buggy as hell, slow as hell and not at all fun on public servers, which, in my opinion, is what the game should count for. It was unreliable, and it didn't actually work with my DVD drive at first due to copy protection, which really turned me off.

World of Warcraft would be mine, considering it saw release for the majority of subscribers in 2005, not 2004. Since it wasn't on the list, I voted Civ 4, because it's much fun.

Other PC games:
BF2. I've been addicted since BF42.
FEAR Does everything right that so many "scary" games do wrong.
WoW I don't even own it, but its important as all get out for the MMORPG world

4 maps! the same gameplay you can download for free with DoD! No single player support at all!

Umm, whatever. Which one would you pick? Personally I wouldn't touch the original DoD after DoD:s. And it's 5 maps now. They're gonna add content over time also. There are games that don't have singleplayer and don't need to, you know.
