That was my conversation with him. Dont know if there is any valuable information in there, but at least it is something. So it may make you all feel better to know that the videos are getting built now.

No one's pissed off at Valve EC2.
I have indeed been at the computer all day but not waiting specifically for Valve to release vids. I've just been chilling out, watching movies and listening to movies. I am so chilled out you wouldn't believe.
 
sigh, i was wondering, will steam automatically download the video?

Later this week, meaning at the later portion of the week, with their track record, next wednesday sounds about right
 
I too have been sitting in front of my computer, waiting for the video. I even woke up at an ungodly hour (to me), I woke up at 10 AM. We're all sensible people here.

Off the wall, call me EC from now on, I only put the 2 there because of the minimum 3 character username. :)
 
And no btw, I'm not high. I haven't even left my seat for a cigarette in the last 6-8 hours. Despite saying I was a few hours ago. I spent too much time at the weekend being high. I just think my brain has possibly melted. Meh :eek:

I was going to download a new brain from Steam but it's been delayed until January 2009
 
You know I think they really tried to release it.

Remember last week they implemented Steam 7 (which supports the media tab), but they had to revert cause it crashed 15 minutes later.

Now they were successful in implementing Steam 7, but hit a snag with the media.

I'm a programmer so I know how this stuff works. Production releases never, ever go right. (and I have 3-5 users, they have 20,000)
 
Maybe, but then again they were always quite vague about the release date.
 
Well we all know what happens if you play with steam...you get burned :)

Just kidding, steam looks promising (I just gave TFC a shot)...

...I suggest we all do a media dance to appease the Valve Gods (chanting around a fire is always helpfull).
 
Just got back from enjoying my day and went to check if the video were release..... SURPRISE! Nothing... god i feel sorry for all you saps that actually waited for it. It's not going to be anything spectacular.. just feed of the e3 demo that all of us should have by now watched numerous times.. Get on with life and enjoy your summer for when it's over, HL2 the game should be out.

I talked to John C in Steam Friends chat and I asked him if the video would possibly come out before Thursday since I'm leaving for the beach then, he said he'd tell them to hurry up for me. I think its cool that they'll even talk to us and its nice to see they have a sense of humor. I'm going to bed for now, here's to hoping some of us get to wake up to a video in the morning :) Remember guys, I know alot have said this already but don't sit at the computer waiting for Steam to update with the video, do other things, take your mind off of it and the video will come faster. G'night all
 
Yeah, how would you guys feel if it was 8 PM and you were still at work and there you were getting 20 instant messages every minute about some stupid videos.

I really appreciate these Valve guys even talking to us.
 
Personally, I'm pretty happy about this latest development. Not that the videos were delayed, but that they most likely will have new footage. I thought that this media release was just going to be the E3 vid direct feed nice and high res, but by the sound of it, it seems they will be having new content as well.

I totally agree. I'm surprised they actually let out their email addresses and Steam names... If I were a developer, I'd hate you all...

I know you all ask much more politely than that, but I'd be annoyed as hell.
 
Jesus christ its just a movie, probably just the same one yove already seen.

Its not like the game was delayed, and even if it was, it would only be for a week or so.
 
omg I live in Australia and left my PC on while I slept just so the media could download. What a waste of power. I'm going to sue valve now for $2. hahahahah

**** TF2, I want more HL2, if this wait is because of TF2, then I'll go play super mario bros. for nintendo til sept. 30th.
 
They are too busy changing Steam so you can block all users not on your list so all these newbies will stop bugging them.

I mean seriously.. you are working your ass off so you can get this game out on time, you are at work at 10pm, probably working 18 hour workdays and then you have 23894793204 kids bugging the living shit out of you.. Sucks to be them
 
No it doesnt, they could just ignore everthing. They are popular for a reason :)
 
It's really simple. They first want to get steam 7 working completely for everyone and then they'll release the vids. And maybe there are still some problems with the videoplayer that comes with it. Because they'll probably bundle one with it, cause the video comes in .bink format.
 
Do you remember the E3 Duke Nukem Forever video on exe? Bink can make autoexecutable videos without have to download any codec.
 
Did anyone get Gunman Chronicles? The TC for HL that was retail released by Rewolf? The intro movie for that was bink. It came right after the Sierra movie when u run the game. Good quality stuff, and no external player needed.
 
yeh i remeber that DNF vid, they (3Drelams) pulled it off thier site since it doesnt represnt the current product....just a little semi-useless info and has nothign to do with HL2 media or bink files
 
did u already mention that id released some new doom3 screenshots? i think valve will hurry now to kick id´s ass!
