Oh no, not Tesco

rofl ohnoes! The government are out to get me what will I do, ID cards which (evilly) give me greater security, shopping tastes sent to TESCO to (evilly yet again) improve the quality of TESCO's service to me, etc...

Yes thats right I didn't read your post but don't worry the data protection act fully protects you against all this "privicy violation", all of these measures are to help you not hinder you, so be thankful. kthxbye

Ok. Link.

We have to look at this from a matter of Princible. We are a soverign citizen and don't have to live by government permission, the government should be the peoples servant, not there master. Privacy as well as freedom are ours by right, and only in circumstances which are very important, should they have the power to removes these, and then only for a limited amount of time.

We must be prepared to challenge thoose who would violate our freedom and privacy for political or financial gain.

We as a population should be ever vigilant and be monitering the government, not the other way round. We don't do what the government say, we do what the people do.

Can I identify this princible with you?
What do you think the purpose and role of the government is?

Giving the government a power to create a compulsery database, hand in hand with constant monitering (CCTV)

Lets be honest there is no right arguement here, it's whether or not you like your privicy or not. Lets be honest there is no conspiricy here, there has been given a rational reason for this monitoring and that is what it's used for, nothing else. If you don't like that then so be it but your arguements are pretty thin, if you want anarchy then fine but leave TESCO alone or munro ownage

I disagree. The role of the goverment is to protect its citizens and the nation from all threats, both external and internal.

We should have CCTVs positioned on all metropolitian areas (actually, I think we already do) and use tracking chips to moniter all ex-convicts and anti-goverment protesters.

Woah, police state alert!

The government shouldn't intervene in everyday life. Full stop.

Regardless, if the government tried to control us in any other way than procecuting criminals, they would be removed from power, by law, by the fact that all agencys would cease to obey them, or even by civil uprising.

They did an experement a while ago:

They got members of the public to come in, they were told there was someone in the next room, wired up to electrodes. They were to ask them questions and everytime they got one wrong, they were to shock them harder.

The people on the otherside were actors, and wernt really being shocked. But at a certain level of schock they began to plead for the schokings to stop (still aprt of the act), and began screaming and banging on the walls, the experimentors told the members of the public to keep going,, and most of them were willing to keep shocking the person even when they screamed for it to stop.

Private places, yes, but public places should be monitered.

And anti government protestors.

I protest a government does that mean I should be chipped. Doing that is removing the right to a peaceful protest.

Just finished reading it.

Its changed my entire perspective on the prison system.
I think everyone should read it.
