Thread title made me LOL. Never played any of the Gears games. Am I missing something?

I think they are some pretty fun games. I'll definitely be picking this up :)

I'd probably buy them if they released them on the PC anymore. First one seemed pretty cool, but honestly, I only got through maybe 5 levels and then GFWL erased my save game for some reason. I never really played it since. I like my other games better anyway.

I've never actually gotten around to finishing the first two, and now there's a third coming? Bah!

I played the first one, but completely lost interest a few hours in. I didn't care about the story or the characters and (maybe as such) the gameplay felt like a chore. Maybe it was just that everything seemed so generic in a way that didn't interest me. Dunno. Either way, I can't imagine this will bring much new to the table, but the fans will eat it up without question. All of this may stem from my intense hatred of Cliffy B as well. :O

No, you're not. These wankers would argue otherwise...

...but like all good wankers, they are wrong.

I remember seeing an interview with that guy... He's fairly annoying.

I didn't play or even see the second one in reality. I played the first on PC and it really does start to feel like a chore after a while. I'm glad I never actually paid money for it.

So... Are we talking about gears of war here or what? Otherwise I have no idea what this is about.

the 2nd game left a bad taste in my mouth, it was fun but then out of nowhere you realize this game is just a highly polished Unreal game with a shitty story and screaming guys with guns that have chainsaws on them.

I read that this one's going to have a water level.

Don't forget to bring a towel!

I really enjoyed the first Gears, it was so over-the-top and everyone had The Large. The second one was underwhelming and only Horde mode was of interest to me. Then I ran into Mark Rein and some people from Epic in person, and he was a grody Canadian snob and an utter dick.

I've decided that I will only play Gears of War 3 if they give you a water spraying device that lets you fly like in Super Mario Sunshine. No other gimmicks will be tolerated.

You are not the kind of demographic for such a game? Gasp.

I liked the first two, so I will probably be playing this sometime after it comes out. Multiplayer for the second one aside from Horde was lackluster.

All jokes aside I respect that the game is a AAA title and hope it is as successful as I'm sure it will be.

I don't know if I could care less about this series. Poorly-implemented cover system, boring environments, extremely lame "EXTREEEME" aesthetic (oh, the irony), and a nothing story. Oh, but now in Gears 3 they'll have underwater combat and they're "revolutionising" the cover system... by adding tunneling weapons that bypass cover.

Yawn.

Only played the first, single player was boring but the co-op was absolutely immense, had some good times on with a mate of mine. Never played the second.

As long as its even more f*cking gory as shit and mindless as the last one I don't care how bad it is honestly.

I borrowed both from a friend. Played the first one through by myself despite hating it, then I tried the second in co-op with another friend and loved it. My purchase of this game depends on whether that friend buys it or not.

TBH I always liked the cover system in the series, but tunneling weapons sound really dumb.

Also I agree with Willie, few games make unloading a shotgun blast into an enemies chest so satisfying. The gore really does a good job of showing that you really did some damage.

The shotgunners in the first one were so ****ing gay, they'd just run up and one-hit kill you. And the final boss battle was cheap as hell and went against everything they taught you throughout the game. **** that game.

I played a little of the second in singleplayer and it seemed they balanced everything out well. Then I had my friend join me and it was infinitely better.

I bought the first two back in the January sales for £5 and £7 respectively so in that regard they weren't bad purchases. Doesn't change the fact I still haven't completed them though.

If this game does not have Baird and THE COLE TRAIN BABY WOO I am will be a mad.

As will I. Deep characters they are not, but entertaining nonetheless.

I refuse to believe that I am the only one that has thought that the addition of females and tentacles makes for quite interesting prospects for sick and twisted violence. Is Epic trying to make this appeal more for Japanese audiences?? I certainly hope so!!

I thought it was Raiden at first, and then a Square Enix character, and then I read it's Anya. wat. How did she become a COG?

Also, Baird and Cole are in the trailer. Cole looks bald but is wearing a bandanna

The game is so generic on so many different levels that I stopped playing within the first hour and never looked at the series again. I mean, come on, how over-the-top is a gun with a chainsaw on it?
