omg. i followed the rope bridge totorial to hang a light from the cealing, i did i all correct (well i oviously didnt) but i did , and look what happened...

It looks like you didn't put a phys_constraint on the light.

I'm guessing the entity allows for a target, a where to point/go to. I'm betting they are all pointing to coordinate (0,0,0). Look for info on the entity for what determines the endpoint of the rope. There may be something to let it dangle free (controlled by gravity). I haven't worked with that entity yet.
