One of my friends just passed away this morning

Not a good day at all. My brother's friend and also a friend of mine died while riding an ATV. Apparently the ATV went off the road and down a cliff, or something like that. Anyway, maybe telling someone else might make me feel a bit better.

A few months back, while I was at a lock-in at a local LAN center, I found out that the reason two friends hadn't shown up for that lock-in was because they'd hit an oncoming car on their way back here and died.

Sorry to hear that, Dream. I know how you feel right now.

I've lost 3 friends in the past year. One to alcohol (fell off a cliff), one in an RTA (drove too fast), and one overdosed on drugs. It's a weird crazy feeling to know they're no longer around. Two of these I was friends with for a long time, through school etc.

Try to take comfort in the fact that we just don't know what's around that corner - and we'll all be going sooner or later.

You may not be able to enjoy his company anymore, BUT, he's either A) In heaven now, or B) Just dead, and his soul is just existing till the end of all eternity.

Either way, he no longer has to deal with the idiots, politicians, liars, of the world, nor does he have to put up with all the hatred, vile forms or art (cough shitty music and tv), or betrayal that living people have to endure.
