I like the crossbow more,I think they're more effective though it takes time to reload and you can zoom-in.

The Bolt is good if you're not in the initial fight, and picking off people from a distance.

The orb is great for smaller, indoor areas as they tend to bounce off surfaces.

I guess so - but if you use the crossbow in narrow corridors with the enemies coming at you,you can just shoot the arrows and you'll hit 90% of the time since the corridor is narrow - not to mention you have 10 bolts :E

Definitely bolts. It's fun to angle your bow towards the ground and have a bolt jump up and nail a combine to a wall.

I like the revolver. It's basically a 1-hit kill, unless you can't aim for sh*t.

10 bolts can kill 10 soldiers.

1 Orb can kill 10 soldiers.

:)

Long range, the crossbow. When the lot are stacked up in a corridor, orby time.

I prefer the revolver for sniping purposes, as its bullets don't have any sort of delay. You can use the suit zoom properly for sniping in hectic situations, also, you don't need to "repeat" after each shot.

The crossbow definately is an original weapon, bolts bouncing off surfaces, however, I've never made use of this and also I couldn't imagine its usefullness in proper combat situations, except for a acrobatic touch.
It's better in use as an ambush weapon, if you have a group of idle combine for example, you can snipe the leader or someone with the crossbow, switch over to the magnum and kill the rest in quick sucession, with six rounds (guys) left.

Ironically, the crossbow is a better cqc weapon, thanks to its instant-kill ability. In close quarters, shooting a zombie in the guts with the .357 is useless, with a crossbow, it's not. ;)

The orbs...I wonder why the combine invented these...I can't recall having used them on anyone except for zombies/toxic zombies and their respective headcrabs. It's got a few advantages, but those are rarely appearing, like a group of seven zombies standing behind each other.
Yet, it still is an instant-kill weapon, so maybe it'S use in close quarters, yet I normally never shoot it there just like I've never shot it out doors either. Indoors, well, it simply irrates me. If the orbs were designed as some sort of rail gun, that simply vaporates upon contact with a solid surface and does not bounce around and make annoying sounds, maybe I would appreciate them more then. Also, with it's three rounds, it seems to powerful and valuable to spend it on one enemy (which mostly is a slow normal zombie who you can't miss even tough the orbs fly with delay or a toxic zombie who you can't miss as well because it's just ****ing big.
Also, that artistic feature of the orbs' ability to riccochet makes no sense, just like the bolts. Okay, yeah, I can remember having send one or two in ep1 into a room with combine hiding in it and finding it great they have a longer/partly wider working effect than conventional explosives.
But still, that is only one instance, and not the routine :'(
So I guess the orb-rounds will still rot into time, as long VALVe doesn't make some drastic updates on them

I guess if the Resistance: FAll of man team invented the orbs, I bet for sure they would have made better use of them, Resistance features some very unique weapons and with some changes by those guys it could probably make an actually good weapon, too.

Orbs are the most useful indoors weapon ever. Room full of combine + comboing = sucks to be them

Orbing has to be more efficient than the other two, though it takes a second to charge up before firing out,the crossbow's zoom works well but when you fire, the arrow flies low a little more than what you aimed for and the reloading process takes a second or more lol - the revolver would be good if the reloading process was a lot quicker and you could take more than 6 bullets into the magazine.

Still, the crossbow is my favourite =D

i keep thinking on the orb as like antimatter with an initial magnetic protection around it. Then, when it touches an enemy part of it reacts with the entity and it vaporises. finally after many hits, the field just disappears and it explode.

Hmm,I like the way you think and imagine it,but you know what I do?I just shoot

I really like the crossbow just cause there's any undeniable plessure you get from pinning a dude to a wall with it *maniacal laugh*

but then again, watching dudes floating in the air, only to dissintigrate moments later, is pretty cool too. . .

but when it comes to practical use Revolver ftw.

Tau cannon was awesome! Only Half-Life Gun that could make a totally desperate situation (army of alien grunts) seem like child's play (dismembered army of alien grunts) in just a few seconds. Probably wouldn't fit in to HL2 plot though. The most satisfying thing in the world is killing someone through a wall. I've achieved that like twice in all the years I've spent playing HLDM. Still the most satisfying kills I've ever had.

Hah I remember that one where I gauss jumped over a fella and zapped him one small Tau discharge. Fun times.

lol?The shotgun ain't even on the poll...and you know why?

It is because the shotgun ain't a one-hit kill weapon!Bwahahahaha!!

But the crossbow,on the hand...mwahahahaha...the revolver and the orb bow before the crossbow!!

The shotgun is a one-hit-kill if you use it correctly. Also, don't double post.

My answer of shawtgonne was random and yet honest :\
But to be pollish(lol wtf) i choose revolver for sniping. Crossbow's delay takes around 5sec .approx so it isnt so good for me, im the chiongster(charger) type not the camper :(

SHAWTGONNE IS 1 HIT K.O.

And btw whats the Tau cannon? Im confused with that word, is it the Vaccumn or the Gauss Gun. Gauss gun is on jeep.

The offical name is the Tau gun. Gauss gun is the name of the model.

I love using the crossbow for ultra-long distances. Just fire a few (20-ish) metres ahead at the right angle, and the poor guy never sees it coming.

Pfft. By the time the enemy even hears the revolver shoot, he is dead. That gun rocks, and you get the feel of its sheer power behind each shot. Just dont miss...

If you miss while shooting the arrow, the enemy will most likely not notice it,but if you miss with the revolver, hehe, everyone can hear you!

Oh and btw,if the shotgun is a one-hit kill, then that means I NEVER used the shotgun correctly...omigosh I am such a failure with shotguns...which is why I use crossbows XD

Shotgun isn't neccassarily one-shot, but I'm speaking for Hard mode.

It is one-shot on pretty much everything but Combine Elites (IIRC), even when I charge in with a double shot at point blank they just don't go down so easily!

I'm gonna do a test so I can post which weapon is ACTUALLY the most powerful. Gonna have a lot of fun with this.... HA-HA! *Shoulders RPG*

Go for it,Corporal!Though, the thing you just shouldered isn't really an RPG,it's a Rocket Launcher - the Machine Gun is a combined AK-47 and RPG.RPG = Rocket Prepelled Grenade.Right-click with the machine gun and you get a rocket prepelled grenade. The Rocket Launcher shoots rockets, not grenades. For it to be a grenade,it will not explode upon impact.but will wait for a few seconds,or if it is an RPG,it WILL explode upon impact due to hard impact, but as you can see very clearly,Rocket Launcher ammunition is a rocket.

Once again I am correct.Bwahahaha... :imu:

Rifle orb is the special function of the combine rifle gun - which is under the machine gun in the weapon selection option - it is called orb because the special function shoots out a orb that will bounce off surfaces for a certain amount of time before exploding, and will disintegrate all enemies during it's motion.

Is that clear,my little ducky?

I remember now which gun that is. I save those orbs for choppers and those 3 legged walking things. I use the crossbow when I'm screwing around. I use the magnum just whenever I want to run and kill things.

Crossbow. Love it when the poor victim gets stuck to a wall or tree and just dangles there.... but unfortunately it really brings out the "rag-dollishness" of the rag doll physics. Too bad there wasn't much opportunity to use the Bow... I dreamed of a situation where there would be a tiny weak spot on a strider and putting an arrow thru it results in a one shot kill...
