I am going to get a paintball gun, all I want is something accurate and I was thinking of getting the Tippman98 custom. I don't want too spend too much money though, so something cheaper than the 98 custom would be nice.

ok, first rule of paintball..... there is no accuracy.
the 98 custom is a good gun, but don't get a flatline barrel if you get it. And get a double trigger.

THe objective of paintball is to get a much paint in the air as quickly as possible. Not to be accurate. So discount accuaracy completly.

Yes, he is correct. At most playing fields, they want your gun at 250-260 fps. When your gun is clocked that low, it is more like a cannon than it is a gun. If you want to get hit people at a distance, you have to aim it up a little and fire it like a cannon. At close distance, it is pretty effective and hurts like a biatch, especially when you do not expect it (which happens most of the time.)

The hopper is usually in the way of the sights, unless you have it mounted more off to one side. Also, most fields want you to run your gun on semi-automatic. For me, paintball is fun for like two rounds. At that time, it gets old.

If you want to play with more realistic guns that don't hurt as bad, try airsoft. I consider airsoft to be much more fun than paintball.

Tippmann...ahahaha. I mean, good marker. Seriously, save up and get a cocker or one of the new electros. If you can save up $350 you could find a used Impulse I'm sure. Good stuff.

You don't want a cocker for your first marker really, not unless you know someone who'll be able to fix it if it messes up. Go for an electro spyder/spyder clone. Tippmans are okay starter markers, but if you ever want to go into speedball and tournaments it just won't be able to cut it. :)

I was just looking at the Spyder Imagine, for $120 is that a good deal? Is it a good gun? And does the hopper cover the sights? Or doesn't aiming really matter, more point and shoot?

Should I get a Spyder Imagine or Tippmann 98 custom?

don't get a tippmann, spyders are much better . . . . believe me, i've experienced them both and tippmanns are just messed up.

i got a spyder xtra two years back, and it still suits me just fine....if i had the money i would get a used impulse or mag from my friend(he owns a paintball store) or one of his team members, but currently the way i play(smallball with friends, etc) it wouldnt be worth it..... if i get a job maybe.

yeah, dont bother getting a super-expensive semi-auto(like a real spiffy electronic one or whatever) unless you are jumping up to the real guns, like cockers and mags, etc.

i find the vertical feed(that blocks the sights) is nicer to use(than the power feed), it keeps the weight centered and makes it easier to "feel" the gun and where you are aiming it. the only aiming that is worth the time it takes is "pointing" - basically just holding the gun close and feeling where it is shooting. If you do get a fast gun, be prepared to shell out money for paint, and i would also consider getting a compressed air tank instead of CO2(only for the expensive guns that would tear through a 20 oz tank in 3 rounds)

Ahhh this is too confusing, people keep telling me somthing is the best and then I hear the exact opposite from someone else. I am thinking I will just get a Tippmann 98 custom because they have a 1 year warranty and are durable and a lot of people have them, so they can't be too bad.

Sweet, thanks for the info Pendragon. I am getting a 98 custom for sure now. All I have to do is wait....4 weeks to start getting paid at work....

I strongly suggest not getting a Spyder of any kind. They have been nothing but trouble for me, and I've had three different models over the years. Go with the T98 custom. A durable gun that gets the job done is much better than a shiny piece of garbage that spits out 15 balls, all of which end up falling way short of the target, and then chokes to death, leaving you defenseless against a team of bastards who think it's funny to send little plastic pellets smashing straight into your privates from the amazingly short distance of ten feet.... Yeah, go with the T98 or get yourself a nice cup.

Bah... ya'll have never played real paintball....

I will give credit where it's due, and the t98 is an amazingly durable gun....

Other than that...

In real paintball (speedball/tourny/scenario) They objective is to rush as fast as possible, get close, and spray. If you are tryng to hit people from 50 yards away... you *might* get one, but the the rest of the team will be on you.

Sidewinder, I'm a tourney player and I know how important a lot of paint is, but in woodsball it's not so crucial.

I was playing a walkon in the woods about a month ago. There was me with my little Inferno T3 (my Impulse is down at the moment) against guys with Angels, Timmys, Eblades, the lot. In one capture the flag game I decided to hang back and wait for them to come to me, since everyone else had gone to attack.
Two of them moved up to a barricade opposite me, and I was behind this small tree. They painted the tree. I don't know what they were expecting that to do. I could have sit down and had a cup of tea if I wanted to, since neither of them moved from the barricade. I waited for them to slow down, and I popped out, fired twice, and I gogged one of them and got a bounce on another. The marshal was in stitches.

I continued doing stuff like that the whole day, and I went through less than a case of paint. I eliminated at least 4 players per game too

I'd actually suggest an Inferno over any Spyder. I've seen Spyders, and they just look tacky. I love my T3, and have never had any problems with it. It's just a shame it's not electro

I have a 98 custom and I got a flatline for the distance..not the accuracy. I havent used it yet though because its sitting under my dads bed wrapped waiting to be opened =). (bday)

Get a dye matrix 4...only $1,400 =). I actually know someone who has one.

and i know 29173 people that have one. Its not uncommon to have a angel 4/alias timmy/DM4 etc for people that play in speedball tourneys. I got a ebladed outkast cocker w/ ups and its worth over $1500.

edit: omg i just realized this is my first post here in like 3 months.

My bro is getting a tippmann A5, how much better is that than the 98c? I don't want to be out gunned by my brother...I can't let him beat me.

gun dont mean crap... theres no such thing as outgunned unless you play in the NPPL or the NXL.

it really dont matter its just personal preferance. any gun can have the same "accuracy" with the right accessories. There is no such thing as the most accurate gun. and neither of the guns will shoot farther. accuracy is most dependent on how the paint fits your guns barrel. if its a perfect match the accuracy will be awesome. the only plus about the A5 is the cyclone feed but its a rediculous waste. if you ever needed to feed fast on a 98 because you got a response or egrip then you can just get a electric hopper.

if your just gonna be messing around and things like that it really doesnt matter wtf you get. get what you like out of a tippmann, spyder, or dragun.
