The shock of surprise on my face when, minutes ago, I open my PC Gamer packaging to find it boasting a playable demo of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, even before it's out on the internet! Lovely. I subscribe, so I get it a little earlier, but the rest of the UK can expect the demo soon as it's probably being uploaded by people with fast connections and large site bandwidth right now.

Will report back soon with screens :D

I assume it's a singleplayer demo, there's been a multiplayer beta thingie out on the net for a while?

If so, well, hopefully it'll be uploaded by someone somewhere soon :p
 
what i was in the shop yesterday and the pc gamer was old,must be coming out friday then,i'll get it then unless some site uploads it

Is it just me or does Sam Fisher now look like the bloke from Far Cry?
 
I simply cannot express how badass this game is. You just feel so cool after taking a guard hostage and pumping a round into his friend's head while he watches. Lovely ragdolls, too.

Oh yeah, the first guard had to die as well, naturally ;)

1) How do you slice thier thoat ?
2) How do you snap thier neck...can you ?
3) How do you choke them to death ?

1) Slicing is done when you're on the guard's right hand side and you press the primary (lethal) fire, he'll go straight for his throat.

2) Only way is the inverted necksnap, produces a very satisfying 'crack!'

3) When you've got them in the grab situation, it's the alternate fire to choke them - it's non-lethal, though. Primary fire in the grab is when Sam breaks their spine. You can also choke while hanging from a pipe, again it's the alternate fire. Alternate is always non-lethal, primary always lethal.

40+ FPS on 1280*1024, 4xAA, 16xAF - 3.0Ghz, 1Gb RAM, x800 Pro. Very well indeed, I'd say. I'm running 4.12 cats as well, I'll try the 5.2s later.
 
Ooh, that looks awesome!

I can't believe the graphics are so different in the singleplayer and multiplayer versions of the game, the MP beta looked about the same as the first game.

brilliant my system is the same but with 3.2ghz,1gb ddr2 ram,x800xt anbd 5.2s,cant wait
 
Are most of the levels going to be outdoors? I hated all the outdoor levels in previous SC, give me a big-ass mansion any day. And before you say it, i've already finished Thief 3.
 
The final showdown: the guard on the lighthouse. Problem was that he saw me as I was making my way to the railings, so I was desperately trying to evade him while he fired blindly at my hands as I was hanging off (it's nice to see that they estimate where to fire in the dark now, as opposed to the other SC games where they instantly know where you are even when you're in complete darkness)... he calmed down a little and started patrolling, and I was desperately trying to grapple my way towards him. Luckily, he stopped for a second and I got my chance ;)

Damnit! I'm in Oxford atm so my copy of PCGamer will have been sent to the post office... I hate it when that happens. Can't we just get a bigger letterbox?

Anyway, I played the open beta from fileplanet, the multiplayer is extremely fun. Fisher has so many moves it's incredible... I can't wait for co-op play :p
 
When will this be open to the general public?
If it's not a problem, can you tell me the graphics options in the game?
