Was supposed to be released yesterday (Europe), but it errrr...Didn't...

Does anyone know if it's been released in stores and just hasn't made it's way online yet? The home page is telling me nothing.

Enhanced Edition? Now I'm glad I held off getting this game.

"Made it's way online"?

DIE WAREZ-KIDDEY DIE.

Honest to God, warez-kiddeys, pirates, rapists and all other sorts of filth deserves involuntary euthanisia.

Oh sorry, my bad.

I just assume the worst about HL2.netters, easiest that way.

I don't think enhanced addition is merely a "patch". It is a big overhaul of the game.
It is available for everyone who bought this game. They will be able to download it online.
As far as I know, the enhanced addition delayed for some undisclosed reasons.

I had a choice between getting this or Bioshock a while ago. I went with Bioshock but I still hope to pick this up. At the very least it'll be nice to buy a game not made in North America, Japan or the UK for once :p

Ah, I hadn't seen this...

Well there goes my weekend. At least this gives me a chance to complete The Witcher before the Enhanced Edition releases.

It's been delayed, i saw it on their forums.
In an interview they said something about a September release but no other confirmation.
The Enhanced version will improve the English translation with over 5000 lines being recorded. The original Polish version had dialogues that were several lines more than the English translations, meaning you missed out on a lot.
More Character models and better animations. Also load times and stability problems will be fixed.
I'am holding off playing it till the patch comes, it will be worth the wait.

wow that sounds nice. Maybe by the time the patch comes out the game will be cheaper. :>

This might make me pick it up. Iv heard great things about it.

And the award for "Most likely to end up in a secure unit for over-reacting with horrendously bloody consequences" goes to...

I would be more interested in The Witcher if it didn't have a horrible inventory system and one of the most immature takes on character interaction I've ever seen (i.e. every female character wants to sleep with you). I tried the demo a while back and I felt like it never really reached its potential.

Wut?

The Witcher that I played only had two women that want to be with you, and the rest were hookers that serve no purpose.

Plus, a demo for this game doesnt really give a good impression of it. Once you get into the overall plot of it, with all the politics and such, it really comes into its own.

I liked the game ... I wasn't such a fan of the walking. I never beat it because I felt like so much time was spent clicking somewhere really far away and waiting for him to get there. If they had condensed it or put in a fast travel system, I would've probably played through to completion. The only incredibly redeeming quality for me was the decisions that truly made a difference and that you couldn't just F9 your way towards the best outcome ... but that was a huge draw for me. Other developers like Bioware need to take that philosophy and put it in their future RPGs.

Well another thing they are fixing in the patch is reworking the inventory system.
Also not every female character wants to sleep with you, i can only think of 2 maybe 3. The rest you have to find and you usually have to do quite a few stuff before they will sleep with you. I find the character interactions very mature and the demo does no justice to it. The beginning is very lame compared to the rest of the game. It's the only game i find that makes you think about your decisions and it's not simply choosing between good or bad you have to choose between the lesser of two evils and you decisions may not become apparent untill and few chapters later.

I didnt think there was that much walking. The distances I dont feel really warranted a fast travel system.

The problem is not whether the character interaction is immature, but whether you are immature. You have the choice not to sleep with those women since there are options in dialogs as well as your action. Yet, it was you who decided to be so horny and strive for sleeping with most of the women.

Oh, I never could stand 'click to move' games, but I might give this one a shot down the line anyway.

or, the greater of two evils?

Are we still talking about the game?

:smoking:

This is a common misconception. Certainly there are quite a few women you can sleep with if you care to make the effort, but you have to make the effort. The only one who requires little persuasion is Trish, at the beginning, but it's kind of clear at the time that both her and Geralt are more than good friends. Regardless however, the game is well worth playing if you are into RPGs.

Don't worry, you don't have to click to move. There's an over-the-shoulder camera mode akin to Gears of War which is the only one I use. Watch some gameplay footage off whatever site you prefer and then decide, words can't really do it justice beyond the story, which is excellent.

The whole women thing is overstated by those who haven't played the full game - getting the majority of the cards requires buying extremely expensive items with money that could be more profitably spent on alcohol as a base for potions, or towards runes, stones and weapons, etc. Plus you don't have to go down that path if you don't want to - it's pretty much optional.

Though the inventory is a bit of a pain at first - just put potions in the first slots, alcohol and gems in the second and potion items and substances in the third and fourth and you can find stuff pretty easily. And dump the rest of your stuff at the local inkeeper - from chapter 2-4 they're always there and chapter 5 allows you to choose your items before starting.

Using that logic we must then also assume the worst of you. You filthy pirate you.

Honest to God, warez-kiddeys, pirates, rapists and all other sorts of filth deserves involuntary euthanisia.

Any resemblance of respect I had for you went flying out the window. You just compared copyright infringement to rape what the ****?

Didn't they release a 2nd or 3rd demo? I think I only tried the 1st but the load times and performance were so bad that I was put off by it completely and didn't bother playing through or getting the other demos.

Have they improved it since then?

It sure is lovely, not being serious that is.:)

I knew you were taking the piss from the very first beginning when I looked at your location. :)

...

The Witcher looks interesting, I've been looking for a new game after having played the shit out of R6: Vegas 2.

My interest in the game went back to... interest in the game.

i'd be interested in knowing this as well...i have a decent rig, and the load times really put me off. as in: walk in to the hut, wait 10 seconds for loading, nope nothing i need here, walk back out, and another 10 seconds of loading, maybe this hut, 10 more seconds, etc.

was this improved in patches, or are the load times still a problem?

10 seconds? Hell it took me close to 4 minutes for each load.

Deal breaker. **** that.

Maybe that's why they included the 'sex with girls' aspect in this game. Hell, if I got one hand on my cock, I have much less of a problem with loading times.

Improved. Did you warez it or something because the game automatically informs you of updates....

Don't you ever **** *** **** **?
I mean honest to God.. Try the game before you judge it.:flame:

Sweet I made you mad this time. yeah, i bet you 'try' games all the time. Your signature makes you look guilty TBH. + Swedish copyright laws = The Pirate Bay.

Erm, what about Swedish copyright laws?
The Pirate Bay are being sued for a huge amount of money in Swedish courts, Sweden tightened up the copyright laws alot over the past 2 years, get a clue.

And no, I don't 'try' games all the time, I'm strongly against piracy, except when it comes to abandonware, I think it's absurd I can't download a game from 1985 that isn't being produced nor sold anymore, only because the company refused to make that game freeware.

I only "try" games when there isn't a demo available.
In which case, it's the devs/publisher's fault for making me resort to it.

I would try the game but I don't download demos because the bandwidth is usually enormous, and the demo - if it even runs right on my PC, usually lasts about 10-30 minutes, then its worthless. Several gigabytes could tie up my computer for over a day, and sometimes the download gets interrupted or corrupted. Forget it.

I thought that's what these threads were for, discussing games. Shit I already said I was buying the game when the price came down, now I'm just gathering more information about the loading times. One person said 10 seconds, and one person said 4 minutes. I don't believe either are accurate.

D: @ 4 minutes.

bscly.

watch out, gargantou might try to euthanize you over the internet some how.

yep, before the demo came out (which was a good six to eight weeks after release), played for about an hour, and the performance/load times were gamebreaking for me, so uninstall and no purchase. the loading completely broke immersion. now i'm asking if this was improved upon in patches, or is it still a problem.

Load times for me vary from 5-15 seconds depending on whether I've been in the area before, and moving in and out of houses/rooms is usually instantaneous. Before the patch however, it was simply unplayable, which is probably what most people are remembering.
