PC: The Witcher Enhanced Edition

watch out, gargantou might try to euthanize you over the internet some how.

He's lucky he's not a kitten, you'd be reaching for the super glue, the nail gun and filling up the ceremonial drowning bowl about now otherwise, no?

Simply because any game thread that Yahtzee has reviewed is oblidged to have this:

I frickin' love this guy.

I like Yatzee as well, but he was soo off the money on that particular review it was kind of tragic tbh. He got his Escapist Gig through slating Fable via Youtube, and The Witcher game actually delivers on a lot of the criticisms he leveled at Fable, so it was kind of disappointing that he didn't give it the thumbs up for that, but instead went for the sex jokes. It's pretty clear if you've played the game and watch his review that he didn't actually get past the intro & first chapter. :dozey:

be quiet you.

I don't make any exceptions for people. And who hasn't put bugs in the toilet? So I pissed on him and flushed it down. I've done it to pests, not ladybugs or anything.

So you want to tell me now in the middle of some game thread that you believe there is something wrong with me? Because I don't remember you offering any help when I asked for it.

I was a little kid. And for the record, the more recent problems were rare outbursts of verbal/physical abuse - not torture.

Besides, don't act like 90% of the world doesn't rip an animal apart at dinner every night.

ITT: VirusType2 over reacts and gets defensive to the point where Krynn72 becomes suspicious of him.

I think Krynn72 can agree with Gargantou that VirusType2 is a deeply disturbed man.

Consider it a little payback for the dead (upset you didn't I). Find a good therapist, learn a little empathy and I'm sure you'll be fine in the end. But don't think a condition is a get out of jail free card for past crimes. EoD. :dozey:

Back to the Witcher now?

I do tend to over-react, get defensive, and act suspicious.

Kadayi, you didn't upset me, but I don't want to be labeled as a puppy killer or kitten killer because that I am not. So I felt obligated to reply. I can give myself a bad rep on my own. Don't need any assistance, thanks. :p

He most definitely did. A lot. Mainly for the sexual thrill, I hear.

Teaser for it, I'm actually quite interested in this... if they actually improved everything from the original, I'll be impressed... although I only ever played the demo, couldn't get through much cause of the performance and load times. D:
Here's to hoping that's really all fixed in this version of the game.

Wow, what an incredibly disappointing teaser. Oh well I'm buying it anyway, and then some. But seriously CDProjekt, give us some new footage to show off the enhancements, I could've made that trailer myself.

I am definitely buying this, and I am proud of my habit not to buy games on launch time :)

Plus I believe they are shipping the new version with a book in English :p
The patches fixed alot of things. Mainly the loading times.

Enhanced Edition? Now I'm glad I held off getting this game.

Same here once i found out this was coming out i held off. Now that i know its coming with a whole look of goodies its a must have for me.

Here there's a number of new videos released to showcase the new features. The improvement in character models is far greater than I expected and the new inventory is fantastic. I'm pretty certain overall graphics quality seems enhanced as well.

Whatever you do
DO NOT PLAY ORIGINAL THE WITCHER
I've played it
IT sucked TOTAL ass and you need a monster computer for half way decent quality

Not really, runs fine on everything medium for me and my computer's atleast 3 years old.
The load times are a little iffy though, the initial load is about a minute.

Well i have a very good computer and loads are about 10-20 minutes and i had to run on low graphics

Don't listen to him, get the game and download the patches, games very good. Buy it and Play it.

I run maximum graphics using an 8800GT and a Q6600 at 1680x1050 resolution on Vista 32-bit. The framerate always exceeds 30, averages at 50-60 and loads take 30 seconds at the very maximum, usually 5-10. Whatever your problem is, it isn't the games fault.

After Patch 1.2 most of the major things were fixed. I just finished it and it's probably the best RPG I've ever played, easy.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition is going to be available via Steam 16th sept in US, 19th in Europe. I already have the retail version and so get the upgrade for free, but if you like RPGs and enjoy an adult tone then I fully recommend you consider buying this, as it's a great game.

What? A top game available via Steam both in US and EU? That's really incredible.

EDIT: We'll see about the price. Some games are (a lot) cheaper in retail version than through Steam.

Amazon.co.uk have the old Witcher version available for about 15 quid, so you could buy that and download the upgrade patch when it's released (though I expect it will be huge), or alternatively spring for the full enhanced edition which is 25 quid. I expect the Steam version will be around about the same price as the retail one, maybe with a 10% discount to encourage sales.

With the enhanced version you get the following:-

In addition to the in-game updates, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition will feature premium packaging loaded with value, including the multilingual game disc allowing you to play with any combination of voice-over and subtitles, two new adventures with full voice-over, the D?jinni Adventure Editor, the Official Soundtrack CD, a Music Inspired by The Witcher CD, an official game guide, The Witcher short story by Andrzej Sapkowski, a Making-of DVD with behind-the-scenes video footage, and a map of The Witcher?s world.

Whether you get the soundtrack etc with the Steam version who knows (although it mentions it in the blurb). However at www.gog.com which CDProjekt run, you get all sorts of extras like soundtracks, pdf manuals & maps with any of the games they sell there, so it wouldn't surprise me if some extras are shipped with the Steam release as well.

I hope so, but in my experience things may be strange:

Bioshock Steam: 54.99$ (= 46 EU with VAT and exchange rate)
Bioshock retail: 29.90 EU

Dracula Origin Steam: 39.99$ (= 33.5 EU with VAT and exchange rate)
Dracula Origin retail: 29.90 EU

Europe is being treated in a really strange way...

This is finally out? I'm considering it. I played the Witcher (only the prologue though) and I wasn't extremely impressed. The dialogue seemed generally crap and conversations awkward and disjointed. Also you look absolutly retarded while fighting. Instead of blocking or anything you just hold the sword above your head and shake it a bit, which is not only absolutly terrible for blocking but also would tire out your arms incredibly quickly.

Ya at this point i cant wait to play this, iv heard nothing but great things.

QFT

Hopefully enhanced editions is... well... enhanced.

Shouldn't really be gaming for the next few months though, so the point is moot.

yeah I always thought it was a shame that parry/evade was dealt with automatically when they have an otherwise very engaged combat system. think it would be much more visceral if they had put in active parry, they could even put in a counter move system similar to what they already got with the combos.

Anyone know what countries are still getting a censored version (if any) and which aren't? I'm talking about the boxed global release, not just the Steam one.

Good question.
