People Complaining About HL2's Story

Just have to comment on that one (don't feel like writing a novel making a response to your posts) but considering that there was only "1" black model in HL1 I find it hard to believe that he looks nothing like the original :p

So are you implying all black people look the same? :p

In Black Mesa yes :)
Well ANYWAY, to be serious again...my point is even that one singular black guy model doesn't look like Eli at all...except that he's black.
Kleiner retained a LOT of the traits of "Balding Scientists #1-800,000,000" populating HL (I could recognize him...in a sense, at least). Unfortunately, he was not as major a character as Barney (who I couldn't recognize because suddenly he has a distinctive face), Alyx (who I had never seen before), and Eli (who looks nothing like the model who was supposedly him--again, I think this was retroactive identification).

Maybe everyone knew where gordon was between black mesa and city 17 or at least why he wasnt around. Like i said city17 is basicly just a job and there was some client that asked for your services and the g-man provided them. When your talking to breen at the end with him trying to buy your contract.

Basicly the g-man is gordons agent and if you gotta a problem from an alien invasion and you want rid of it you call the g-man. Its like ghost busters, If youve got a ghost you call em and they sort it. If you got an alien invasion you call the g-man and he sends gordon to sort it out. Some one must have called him anyway. Alot of people have as stated at the end by the g-man and he also states that you will understand more of whats goin on.

Dunno if anyone has noticed this but some of the vortigauts talk a load of crap first one i noticed was at the airboat stop where you get the gun attachment. That vortigaut talks about the Nihilanth and how you saved them although it all comes out in short sentences so it doesnt make much sense. He also says somin like you and I are the same. I dunno how that fits maybe hes on about slavery as your a slave to the g-man and how vortigauts are basicly treated as slaves.

Thats one of the things I pointed out. Gman let Gordon go just long enough to do whath e needed to do, destroy the Combine Portal on top of the Citadel, as soon as his task was done, Gman takes him back to storage to be used again when he's needed

My take on the basic plot:....

Once Earth created cross dimensional teleportation, back at Black Mesa, other cross dimensional species could come to Earth. They cudnt do this before cuz, well, u cant fone sum1 up unless they have a fone.
At black Mesa, the Vortigaunts (sp?) and other such things were teleported to attack and subdue the Earth by an evil alien species, however they were forced to do this - hence when the big evil alien was killed at the end, they were free.
Now, the combine move in. They want slaves.

Yet conquering a planet can be done in 2 ways, mass attack, or clever planning. Combine opted for the second. They used Breen, a respected man, as a speaker to promise people salvation and great leaps forward by coming with them. Yet when they are taken they are transformed into slaves, possibiliy even combine soliders (like the vorts were slave soliders in HL1) through complex alien surgeory - hence the weird grey guys at the end level, and on the monitors of nova prospekt.

Breen continues to tell us we're making a mistake cuz his ass is on the line, if he fails, he's gunna end up like them. I think he believes the human race is doomed, and was just doing what he could to save himself - typical bloody baddy aye, but well crafted.

Of cousre there's a lot more, but thats the overall plot, as I see it. And yes this element of the plot is great. My only reservations for it being that the GAME plot, not the "between the lines" plot as explained above) isn't so perfect. A little jerky, and sometimes simply absurd. Like the ending, DOG lifting up the thing and Barney just saying "Yeah go in" (like this wouldn't be the perfect opurtunity to attack the tower, that they've probably been trying to do since it was erected.)

Well from what you see and hear in Elis lab breen was to negotiate with the combine. He surrendered and the combine gave him a position of power for doing so. The war only lasted 7hours because of this surrender and the combine could easily take over
