Quit annoying Gabe!!!

Okay, I've had just about enough of this...

Quit emailing gabe to ask if your new ALIENWARE/DELL/WHATEVER type of computer is good enough for HL2 or whether you should get Nvidia GF or Radeon!!! I have seen more than enough posts like this so that people can use them as reference! I'm sure gabe must be getting annoyed by answering 100+ emails a day asking whether you should get the 9700 or 9800 radeon card... Am I crazy hear, or is this a valid point I'm making!!!??? Let's reserve asking questions to things that are really important, like mod capabilities and things of that nature.. please :)

If Gabe was tired of answering e-mails then he would stop responding. Seeing as he continues to actively maintain open channels of communitcation with Half-Life fans, it's a bit presumptuous of you to demand others stop corresponding with him.

I agree with you there NW. And their right, if gabe was tired of answering them he would stop. But seriously he has to get annoyed and tired of you nublets asking the same stupid questions over and over again.
 
if he didn't want to, he wouldn't answer. he most likely feels NO obligation whatsoever to answer those emails, considering valve's way of releasing information and such. send away, he'll answer them if he wants.
 
i agree. i find it strange that the systems thay got are always top-end!! its almost like theyre bragging...

anyways, i havent read an email of gabe telling how hl2 will run (res, framerate) on a 1 ghx, 256 mb, tnt2/geforce 2 for example (thats not a question im asking, but it would be more interesting)
 
The "info from Valve" thread started out great, and went on great for a number of pages. What the heck happened the last day or two? Why does every other hl2 basket-case have to ask him "will my coputr run hl2?" There are a million threads about what kind of freakin' processor you need, not to mention the articles about it in various magazines, :dork: .
 
More like it annoyes me how many idiots have better computers than me and don't know it :(

What also makes me mad is that I saw the same computer I bought a year ago but now it has more ram, a faster processor, and a 200 dollar lower price, damnit!

It is EXACTLY like they are bragging, because that's exactly what they are doing. Pestering Valve with useless questions just so they can pimp their systems back here with certified Valve pimpage. There is no point to such posts, and they should be deleted from the thread to discourage people from making them.
 
I think it's more that they're just obsessed with performance and wouldn't be able to sleep at night wondering if the latest nVidia card really performs half a percent slower than the latest from ATI.
 
Yeah those questions are very lame now. Very lame.

People just need to think a little bit. Sure Gabe still answers them but what is he really thinking? The majority of us would be pretty annoyed answering 'yes HL2 will run on the top of the line ATI gfx card"

I agree with Apos; they're mostly kids or young teenagers who don't know anything about computers.

What is it with people?! Are we this spoiled now a days?! Can that run it... HELL NO!! That's like asking if this battery could run HL2. You need to buy a motherboard, memory, a good PSU, a monitor, keyboard and mouse and whatever extra you want. THEN you might run it. But in this pitifull state... Scrapmetal... WE DO NOT PLUG THE GRAPHICS CARD INTO THE CPU AND HOPE IT WILL DISPLAY AN IMAGE ON THE CHIP PEOPLE!!!!!!
 
Man, I really hope my duel 3 GHz P4 with 1 gigabyte of RAM, 3 terabytes of harddrive space, and a Radeon 9900 will be enough to run Half-Life 2.
 
Actaually, since the 9900 isn't out yet a GeForce256 could beat it.
 
I know you think its presumptuous of me to ask people to stop asking gabe, but I just think eventually he will get tired of the mass amount of emails, and then all emails, including important ones will not be answered. And please, just because it says "Headcrab" under my name, do not throw me into the throng of other people who post here and assume I am some sort of 12 year old with a hormone imbalance. These morons asking valve about their computers are the same ones posting the meaningless crap on these boards, so go after them, not me. :X
 
I agree with tim. Most of the people asking that question are punk assed bitches with high end systems. You remind me of a bunch of ass sucking ******s "OOOOOOH GABE, WILL HL2 RUN ON MY 3 GHZ P4 OR SHOULD I UPGRADE TO A 3.2?". Heres a suggestion - GET A GODDAMN CLUE. Of couse it will run, there have been articles outlining what sort of features you can expect with your video card.

To those who think they are so bad ass because they have a higher "rank" on the forum:

The people who ask those questions are the "headcrabs"... you people are so pathetic to determine the merit of someone's ideas by their "forum status" - thats just how many posts they made dumbass. In "real life" it doesnt mean anything. Of course you wouldnt know much about that seeing how youve prolly spent the majority of your life with your head shoved up your ass.

wats really interesting is that gabe will answer hundreds of "will my comp run it" emails, and deny response to many other ones.

just see the last "will my comp run this" email in the official valve info only thread. the guy who did it did not do it to piss people off he did it to make sure he wasnt being completely ignored.

i find this interesting, but then again, for obvious reasons, expected.

all this thinking just makes me want new footage....
 
Yeah, I want more footage too XtAkm4p. My theory on this topic of Gabe responding to the emails about computers is that he has some how setup an autoscript to reply to any email that contains the words "will my computer run". If geforce 3 is found, it will add that it will not be optimized for DX9. If it mentions "buying a new graphics card", automatically it will spit back out the 9800, ect. I don't really think this, but it could be possible he has a secretary who screens his emails and answers the computer ones for him, like most elected officials have :p.

I sent several e-mails with many legitimate mod-related questions that hadn't been discussed... and none of them have been answered yet (weeks later). Then, I come here and see tons of people asking the most retarded questions and they get answers... it really pisses me off.

I bet he blocks all free e-mail providers. Too bad I didn't save copies of the e-mails... I guess my questions will never be answered.
 
I'm sure Gabe has 2 email adresses, one for real company work and one for the fans. He probably just looks at a couple during breaks or at the end of his day. I'm sure its annoying for him to get deluged by these emails but I also think he rarely reads many anymore.

Besidesif he really didn't want to he could just stop answering them all together.
