Pick up Official Playstation Magazine (usa) with disk! MGS3 playable!

I picked it up today at WalMart because I was looking at magazines and it said playable MGS3 demo and I was like F*CK YEA. It's simply amazing.

Alot, I went hunting for meat.. and the wilderness is so ****in fun and realistic.. picking camo/face paint and picking what is good to eat and what hurts you.. I ate a snake and it gave him health but fuxt his stanima.. you literally have to leran how to survive.. oh and the knife/knife pistol combos are TIGHT as hell.. seems as if you get to play quite a big amount for a preview a month before the game releases.. it gives you a bunch of guns to try out just for the trial to

dragonov
m16
shotty
colt45 type gun
silenced trank (silencer wears down and breaks after awhile)
knife (can be used WITH pistols soo badass)
etc etc.

you can also climb and swing on trees.. and foliage moves realistically undeneath you.. the game is breathetaking.. honestly.. I was at loss of words. again there is a good sized exclusive playable preview included in the official us playstation magazine.. its amazing.
 
Yeah... I got that issue too...
except the ****ing disk wont work in ANY PS2 I put it in. And theres no scratches or anything on it.

grrrr....

same I had no plan of buying anything but some chips but then I saw that mag when I was looking through a maxim.. and im like HOLY FSECK MGS 3 PLAYABLE!!!!!!!!!!!! and I picked it up with no further questioning

old ps2's? are the lenses dirty.. get a dvd-lc for it.
 
Nah, I've tried it on 3 different PS2s.

On my friends it will boot up into the disks menu and whatnot. But if you try to load any of the playable games it just crashes to the PS@ menu.

And on my PS2 it wont load anything at all.
 
i thought this demo was kind of old? also, theres a demo of nfs:u2 in another mag, forget the name tho.
 
It's the latest E3 demo AFAIK. Also, the NFS:U2 demo is "hidden" n the PS2 version of Burnout 3 (might be in NTSC-XB too).
 
Interesting stuff to try in the demo:
- You can slam a guard to the ground and knock him out by going forward and double tapping on the circle button.
- Try and find a frog. They don't taste great but are really hard to spot.
- The only way to get a magpie is to snipe them with the dragunov.
- Under the bridge is an item called "LIFE RCVR". You can't use it and I have no idea what it does.
- Shoot all the ropes on the bridge. It doesn't fall down, but makes it incredibly wobbly.
- When you die, the message SNAKE IS DEAD will slowly turn into TIME PARADOX. Why? This is because Snake is Big Boss, Solid Snake's father.
- When you have the shotgun or m16 equipped, using the circle button will make Snake bash a guard with his weapon, sending the soldier flying back.
- M16 tips: When selecting this weapon, press triangle to change firing mode to single or burst. This is more accuarate over long distances. When in first person mode, lightly press square and hold L1 to aim down the sight of the weapon. Since there's no laser pointer, this is much more accurate.
 
Does it still have the awful English voices I heard in one of the trailers?
 
The demo is all in Japanese with English subtitles. I also got another question. Is the demo timed or is my PS2 just being stupid lol?

On a completely unrelated note:

Damn Steam for it's trickery! I started it up - not having started it up for a couple days. The first thing it pops up with (Half-Life 2 Gold) Yay...already heard about it. Then it shows a small window - "Unlocking Half-Life 2 files" WHAT THE F*CK!? No way...this isn't really getting unlocked this early..is it? Nope...Steam is just playing games with me...bah.

additional

-Use your silencer wisely as it wears down although it can be euipt to all firearms except the shotgun and dragonov using the O botton in the weapon select menu.

Probably, they would make money that way anywho. Probably with extras as well (like substance for the box).
 
Can anyone answer my question.... Is it timed because mine keeps cutting me off while I'm sneaking past some gaurds. When it cuts me off it brings me to the main menu.

Wait....Snake and Solid Snake are 2 different people? I know solid snake was the one you play early in MGS2 and thru MGS1. Do play Snake (big boss) or Solid snake in this one? Does it take place in the past?

Takes places in the 1960's during the cold war and you play as Big Boss, which is given the code name snake.
 
Send me a copy ^_^, I wanna see if I can emulate it to work on my pc and then use my PC Ps2 Controller ^_^.
 
The reason it reads Time Paradox is because Big Boss had his genes taken to make the 3 twins, Solid, Solidus, and Liquid.

Snake is a codename (already answered, meh) and like everyone else from Foxhound unit they all have animal codenames (Ocelot, Snake, Fox, Wolf, Raven)
 
Quit skipping my question! Is there a time limit on the demo?
 
played the demo like a week and a half ago, this game is just so awesome, it's the only game comign out this year that has the possibility for beating HL2 for sheer cinematic awesomeness, i can't wait for the game, and the box looks good too

edit: He's actually given the code name Naked Snake
 
PRESSURE: my ps2 wasnt resetting. The framerate did lag some though...especially when i mowed 6 guys down with the shotgun. It was pretty good. What I want to know is this :

Does the whole game take place in the jungle? I want my soliton radar back! Also, I can't remember who solidus is..who is he? which game was he introduced in?
 
He was introduced in MGS2. He's the third of the three spawns of Naked Snake.
 
Man im jealous ;( My PS2's at the other side of the country with my brother! :/
