have you ever pirated a game/software?

:imu: :imu: :imu:

:dozey:

Oh god damnit. I thought it was going to be "Do you pirate games/software." and I checked No. Then I scroll down to find "Have you ever pirated a game/software."

I gave up my pirating ways some time ago.

Great, I'm the only person that's checked yes

someone, check yes and unembarrass me!

*looks round*

bloody pirates

I put so much money in that Industry . So once In a while yes I download games

Crap I thought it was "Do you pirate software", there should be another yes there :D

A few times, although I think most of them are really considered borderline abandonware anyway.

arrr mateys.

it would appear it's more prolific than the number of people on hear who preach about it would suggest;)

I bought HL2, because it included games i expect i'll play for many years to come like CS and i think it's worth the money, however games i'll only play once through to "do" them i'll often get through BT and then if i know i'll be playing them for a while i'll get a legit copy:)

I think the real question is if i've ever actually paid for a game...

HL2?

OT: Yeah I've pirated stuff. Not much anymore these days, and what I do download is more than made up with my legal purchases :)

i used to alot. then i got a job and a nice thing called money. and also realized the truth in 'do to others what you would have them to do to you'

pirating software, music, movies, its all the same.

I used to but after Suprnova got taken down I stoped. sometimes I still do but mostly to check whats a game like. if it's good, i buy it. if it isn't. i delete it :E

I'm not going to lie, I have done it before, but I stopped doing it a long time ago.

My fried does it for me...
He lends me a burned CD/DVD with like 5 games on it once in a while
But I have never pirated no games :p

Theres no difference. If you installed and played those games, you pirated them.

I always try before I buy. HL2 is the only game I've purchased without playing in years.

I was tricked into pirating a game.

That's what I'm telling the courts anyway.

It's still not completely illegal here in sweden but there's tons of talk about it on the media atm. A law that forbids downloading of copyrighted software is going to be put in on 1st of July if it passes.

Pirate? what? Do you mean that pirate mod for battlefield 42? yeah that was cool

That's just music. Software and movies are illegal today.

Can't say I have, I like to support the industry. The music industry im a lot harsher against but I have 56k anyway so well I can't really download a hell of a lot so I make no difference.

Can't say I have either. I just don't trust dodgy software/games - I always think it would be just a big zip full of porn or viruses. I do download music though, but most of the time it's one or two tracks - if I like them, I buy the album - I prefer having the CD's and cases for some reason :p

If you've never pirated games before you're either a really good person or a liar. :p

indeed. I mean, I defintly have never pirated dozens of movies/games/apps.

No, it's the same deal for games and movies. I think there's something different about computer software like applications, but other than that there's no difference.

Hell no. I have nothing against it really, I just cannot trust any software from a P2P program. If I were to ever try, I'd probably bail out at the first sight if the shady installer. Who the hell knows what they've shoved in there.

If you keep it to yourself, right? If you sell/give it to someone else, it's illegal...

Almost everyone has done it. However if they quit then if you ask me they have the right to preach it

That's the whole point, I said DOWNLOADING. Spreading is illegal, it's the downloading they want to make illegal aswell.

I used to use newsgroups, where the original pirated releases hit the servers, sometimes even before the game hit the shelves. Granted it was only a couple of days to a week earlier, but still, just to say you did it.

I stopped a year ago because I moved into a Comcast cable provider area where the news service caps the load at 500 MBs per month. So much for that. Of course, now I have a job and can't use the same excuse to pirate games.

Very well, I guess you're right. But making it illegal wont stop anyone. It's not like they're gonna arrest half a million people.

Ive probably pirated hundreds of things. Including Maya and Photoshop. I'd say i saved myself about $10,000.

I'd like to ask an interesting question...

Do you think a lot of programs thrive because of the illegal spreading of them? I'm pretty sure Adobe/Discreet could've done a lot more to stop people being able to illegally access their programs, but they don't.

In the case of PS/3DS Max, the people who download them generally wouldn't be able to afford them since they're hardly £29 games.

Even though Adobe don't exactly need their programs spread illegally for them to be popular, I'm sure they're secretly a little bit happy that so many people areusing their programs.

I've downloaded "abandonware" before- technically, thats still piracy.

I may or may not have pirated software in my computer.
