Play the game

Easy.

If a dot is in the middle of the dice, the dice has a "rose". you count the total of dots combined that are around a dot. If there is no rose, then there are no petals around a rose. so 6 dots (no rose)=0, 2 dots (no rose)=0, 3 dots (1 in middle, 2 around the middle "rose")=2 etc.

It is supposed to be very hard, or a lot harder, for people that are mathematically driven and a lot easier for people that are less intelligent or more artistically driven.

yeah i'm definitely not too artistic...but once it said you have to be creative i started looking at creative ways of solving it...but it still took me forever to figure out.

Took a while to figure it out.. I'm a very artistic and creative person, it really requires you to look at the whole problem and information differently.

I got it on the first try, doesn't take a genius to solve that puzzle. But you're saying I'm either "less intelligent" than others or I must be "artistically driven". It's just a game, it doesn't mean anything. I could make you play a game of chess and say you're more of a outdoors person, does that make any sense?

it has NOTHING to do with intelligence, its all about the way you perceive the world. a mathmatician would think "there has to be a logical solution for this", and start to try and work out a formula- while an artist would think of it as being "petals" and "roses". Basicly if you take ages your probally more mathmatically driven, and if you find it straight away youll look at it from an artistic / aware kind of veiw.

*edit* i just read para's post and i must say i agree with him all the way.

It's really easy if you just concentrate on the dice, and think nothing about there being a rose. I got it on the first roll.

i didn't think about the question at all until later...i tend to do that. i try to solve things my own way and then go back and actually read the question/instructions thoroughly...it slows me down sometimes, but on some tests i just blaze through things because i don't have to actually read the questions. meh...call me weird but my method has its advantages

Wow. I stupid. After about twenty minutes, I gave up and read the spoiler. I hate myself.

Did it ages ago, can't really remember if I did it myself or got someone to spoil it for me :)

Hmm... whether I'm a left or right brainer is still up in the air, I took some silly test once that said I was pretty much even. I really suck at maths if that's any indication. I mean suck, I have to put serious thought into simple equations ^_^

I can be creative though, but I think the logical side of things where I'm concerned is more thinking about things as a whole and putting them into a simple perspective, I can do that if I'm in the right state of mind.

K, too early to be thinking about this stuff, gonna go shower and put out my brain.

I figured it out. :E

I just kept on rolling the dice and removing possible formulas until I stumbled across the solution.

Now that I think about it, the name kinda of gives away the answer.

urrrr.... I am confused about the rose... what ****ing rose... there is no rose. They are some dice... thats all.... wtf... petals.... are they some stupid american words for dice or di i just don't notice or something?

omfg,,, i just read the spoiler. How the **** are you duposed to compare a dice to a rose... what a stupid peace of shit. How dumb is that LOL.

How many wheels are around my car?

.......
.....
.........
....

anyone?

I must be a freakn' good artist.....i figured that out in about 2 minutes.

And I do suck at math too.......

Im good at math and I'm pretty artisitic. one you you were saying "it's hard for people who are mathematiclaly inclined." yada yada i knew not to look at it in a 5-2+3 way. and i figured it out on my second try

I am a very artistic person and I am also fairly mathmatical. But when I looked at it I saw that it has dices numbers and also a calculation I had to make. So my instinct told me to think math, so I did. Not some pointless impossabilite that doesn't make sense. Math is fact a flower been a dice is just bullshit :p

i tried to do all sorts of mathematical higgery pokery. attempted to draw it up in a logic table, did some decision tables, tabulated about 20 results compared to the dice configuration and looked for a pattern...nadda....

read suicide42s spoiler and slapped myself on the forehead...

they're right though, it's nothing to do with intelligence. it's the way your mind is inclined. some people will try and understand it and cracck it. others will just go with a 'gut feeling' or intuition.

nice little puzzle.

This is what i was thinking at first....
That they actually meant "rows" instead of "rose". lol didnt work out very well.
I did notice...
how 5 would look similar to a rose ( i guess lol) but I just thought a single rose, not multiple ones
THEN....
I left a wrong answer there and just figured it out from there. I felt so dumb that it was quite simple and I hate math, so I dunno why I tried so hard.
and yeah ;p

Ahh! I thought it was:

|d1-d2+d3-d4+d5| (those are absolute-value bars, i.e. an answer of -3 is changed to 3, and an answer of 2 stays at 2).

Damn not being particularly visually/artistically intelligent! And damn my only trying four times!

I got it after 20 minutes or so. I just didnt understand at first how to get it.

I did this about a year ago, I got it in about 15 minutes.. my brother, however, would've never come to the answer had I not basically flat out told him :|

I was trying to interpret what the doctor guy was saying, but he does seem to think that mathematicians look for mathematical solutions to the problems and look at the dice as being numbers, whereas, someone else who isn't might look at the dice as being patterns on the dice.

I like the spot the baby one better, it's more "cool!" and less "OMFG ROSE IS NOT DICE!!" :D

(see attach)

that baby one is a bit too obvious. guess it shows whether you can sit back and see the whole picture, instead of examining everything in minute detail.

we did this a long time ago in math class
