Yes, it is hard to find programmers who know how to write multi-threaded apps - in fact, this is all new territory so hardly anyone knows how, but there is more to it than that. He is pissed because Sony deliberately adds 7 cores and a central processor so that PS3 games will never work on anything else - including the competitor PC market, xbox 360, and Wii. Any PS3 games will have to be totally re-programed to run on other systems, and vice versa.
Lies!! :O In other words, no.

the mag's website is psmonline.com

its a real cover; not photoshopped. Guess we will find out if this is going to happen or not on monday at sony's press event
I doubt it, I mean anyway, as written a page or so back by a guy who has the magazine.
They're merely salivating at the POSSIBILITY of HL2 on the PS3, there's no actual pointers to why it'd be on the PS3, I think they're also salivating over the POSSIBILITY of Crysis on the PS3 but if CryTek has its way that won't happen, and/or if it happens, it'll probably be a spinoff in hte faith off Far Cry Instincts.
I ****ing hate magazines with such misleading covers, ****ing retards.

It doesn't make it a lie, and it doesn't make me wrong. It just means that IBM has created a development tool that can compile single threaded code into multi-threaded code. This is very good news that I wasn't aware of.

To obtain a license to use this software, it probably costs a fortune, similar to paying to use havok technology or the like.

That said though. The cunning guys behind Microsoft have made it stupidly easy to use all the high-tech gonads in the 360 for any developer. In fact if anyone here has programmed DirectX before it's apparently very similar.

Valve probably won't release another their title on console platform, wether they are next-gen or not. Look how HL and HL2 horribly failed on both PS2 and Xbox.

Actually Combine Hybrid, Valve are working on a new game for the XB360..

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10798/Valve-Announces-Development-for-Xbox-360/

There are other links but I'm too lazy to look up the thread that was posted here a week or so ago..

“The combination of Source and the 360 provides game designers the chance to create powerful entertainment experiences,” said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve.
“Whether developing a traditional FPS, RTS, RPG or delving into new genres, the Xbox 360 is a great platform for expanding Source and our game experiences.”

It's gonna be interesting to see...:) I wonder if we'll get to see something at E3?

Half-Life on the PS2 didn't "horribly fail". It was a pretty good port which had a briefly but fun co-op mode. I throughout enjoyed playing HL on PS2 despite the controls (you could hook up a keyboard & mouse if you wanted to play with that instead of a joy pad).

I haven't played HL2 on the Xbox so I can't comment on that.

I'm talking about in sales wide, not gameplay wide. Both Half Life series on both consoles didn't sell quite good enough.

What are the sales figures like? I didn't imagine that HL2 would sell spectacularly on the Xbox, but it can't have been that bad...

I would like to see that.

Gabe himself said they were disappointed in the HL2-X sales.

Gabe said that was the only sale margin they missed. In other words the ONLY Valve product that failed.

And then again, is that a failure?

Basically in my mind, if it costs less to make than you sell it, it is a success ofcourse you will have a target you want to make, but if you dont hit it but still dont post a loss, its a win.

Yeah. Gabe probably has high standards as to how a console version of Half-Life 2 should be selling. I mean, it's Half-Life 2 after all. The XBox version could have sold equally well as the PC version for all we know, but it'd still be a disappointment to Gabe because he sees stuff like Halo 2 still outselling Valve's masterpiece.
