Okay, today I saw a car with a license plate saying VETERAN, it had poppies and a dramatic graphic of a soldier on it, and it got me thinking... why the hell does Canada get more recognition for fighting in WW2 than Poland? Even the creators of Call of Duty think Poland was fighting on a lesser scale than Canada (or even to). Contrary to popular belief, Poland was the fourth largest army in the war, it did not get taken over because it was merely weak... it was attacked by the 2 largest armies in the world at the SAME TIME. Poland knew it was going to be invaded by Germany, and so did England and France. Russia went in from behind when Germany occupied Poland, telling people they were fighting for Poland, which was a lie. That just led to 20 years of communism.
We were abandoned before the war even started. Before the invasion, Poland wanted to buy a large amount of planes from England, which of course, England rejected. England and France didn't even declare war on Germany until 2 days after it invaded Poland, and it took a shitload longer for them to DO something about it. Good job on glorifying the war to the point where no one remembers THAT.
It took Germany 400 million bullets, 50 million artillery shells, and 70 thousand bombs to take over Poland. Less than half of that was spent on France. The Polish armored cavalry was one of the most feared armies during the war and Poland even had the largest/longest/most devastating uprising in the history of mankind. 1 million people died in Warsaw during (I think) 2 weeks of battle.
I always hear about remembrance parades/ceremonies going on in the US, Canada, England, Russia, and various other countries, but, I never - never - hear anything about Poland. Also, whenever there's a discussion of WW2 at my school, everyone looks at me and says Poland got "pwnt", or had an army made up of horses, or was just shitty in general. The ****ing Italians are proud of themselves yelling "woo ITALY!!" even though they JOINED the Germans.
I'm probably the only one who gives a shit, but damn, someone could atleast acknowledge the fact that we at least resisted SOMETHING during WW2. :|
I may find this post to be stupid in the morning, but right now it makes sense.
