Recall the recent HL2 ep2 videos released by valve, then recall the scene where the G-Man is standing over a sleeping Alex.
That bed in the relaxition chamber could be where she is.

In other words:
The G-Man and Aperture Science are very closely linked...

Here are some points to consider, in point form:
1) The G-Man possesses advanced Portal Technology
2) Aperture science seems interested in people with elite intellegence and survival skills, people such as Gordon Freeman.
3) The relaxiation chamber has no doors, ie access only by portal and you could argue that they are statis chambers.

So my theory:
The G-Man and Aperture science are some sort of agency, looking for elite people for 'jobs'. The testing is deadly so only the best make it. The portal gun is nothing more then an intellegence test for the recruits as aperture is capable of making portals without it (as the G-Man shows). The G-Man hired gordon outside of the Aperture testing as he displayed all the qualities they test for. Gordon was brought to the facility (which is obviously well hidden) and remained there in statis until he was required.

This makes so much sense that I almost hate you. I can see it now. You play all the way through portal and it ends with you standing alone in a room with a mirror infront of you and staring back at you is Alyx.

Valve might be saying that to shock us at the end of the game. Still I don't think it's Alyx we're playing.

And that theory explains Combine-like technology. Good one!:thumbs:

An interesting theory. The Portal narrator sounds either entirely synthetic, or perhaps not quite comfortable with human speech.
It would be a kicker if you got to the end of Portal and were issued a suit and a Portal device concealed in a briefcase, though that wouldn't really explain the Gman's peculiar mannerisms.

Besides that, if they were planning a character-based surprise, it'd be difficult not to spoil it in the first few minutes with the portal gun, since you use it to see yourself.
 
one of the guys involved with decoding the swf file said it was an flv.

This is the thread that never ends...it just goes on and on my friends...zukeft wrote the first post so very long ago, that no one knows where it will go. To the tune of "The Song That Never Ends".

It's a solid state issue. Even if the entire Earth would now collapse to black hole or something, it doesn't mean that Sun* wouldn't rise tomorrow just because we wouldn't be here seeing it.


* Sun as in Sol, the particular star our planet is orbiting with 7 of its fellows.

Exactly...the sun doesn't rise. Its just one of those things that are scientifically incorrect, but people still say it. Just like black holes (they're spheres), radiators (they don't radiate heat as the main source of heat) and the way electronic circuits are drawn.
 
The sun might not rise tomorrow - go look up the induction problem if you're bored enough to. Summary: Just because something has reliably and consistently occured up until now does not mean there is any logical basis to predict that it will happen again.

For example, Valve might release a game on time one day. :p
 
I like the theory that the Arctic base Mossman is at is the enrichment center, and she's on the hunt for the gun.
 
I love this 40 pages and only 1st 5 had useful stuff. Man the next update will add another 30 pages. This might be the biggest thread soon enough.

As you can see, our galaxy consists of 9 planets. Each planet goes in a continuous curcuit of varioujs speeds and spins at different velocities. Although our planet, Earth, is spinning at an extreme speed, and in videos it looks like its going supa dupa fast, it actaully takes 23.57 hours/minutes to go in a full spin. once our side is on the sunny side (facing the sun) since we are on an angle, it seems as if the sun is rising, when WE are actually rising over the sun. As well as the fact that if you put an egg on the sidewalk on a sunny day, IT WILL NOT BECOME A SUNNY-SIDE UP EGG! It isnt hot enough, and itd get all dirty and ew.

Who really cares if the Earth is round or flat, if the sun rises or if the earth turns, if the planets form a galaxy or a solar system, if my grand'ma can ride a bicycle, if my grand'pa colostomy is going well, as long as i get my salary, as long as my computer starts when i push the button and as long as Gordon prostate doesn't force him to quit the game to have a leak every 10 minutes.
