Post up your car!

Ah the 636. Probably the best Kwaka engine ever. How goes it brodad, been a looooong time! Still hitting the trails round Devon?

Yeah, all good. It's been bloody ages, where have you been?

Aye it's the good half of the year again so making the most of it. :)

Went to Wales a couple of weeks ago. The UK rocks for biking (the hilly and mountainous western half of it anyway). The whole of Wales is basically like a playground for bikers.

Yup, they is nice. I considered getting a Street Triple last time I was in the market for a bike, but ten minutes on the motorway was enough to convince me otherwise. The windblast was trying to pull my helmet off my head and turned the straps on the arms of my jacket into a torniquet, even at 75-80mph. I found it quite hard work in general above 60 and I got a lot colder riding it aswell due to the lack of anything to hide behind. Also it's virtually impossible to carry any luggage on the thing.

A hell of a lot of fun to chuck around on B-roads, it's a seriously capable piece of kit if you've never ridden one. Perfectly engineered, handling, power delivery and brakes are all amazing.

If I had the money to keep a few bikes, I'd definitely have one in the garage. But too many downsides for me. Next time I swap it'll probably be for a Triumph 675 (the proper sportsbike version) or a GSXR750. :)

By the way, I'm gonna be in/around Sydney for a month over Christmas. You're way over the other side aren't you?

The big thing that drives me crazy. Why not spend less money on a stupid loud sound system, rims and exhaust and spend it making sure your car is color coated properly.

*EDIT* I just re-read my post, and it sounds like I'm being mean. No disrespect, I swear :p

My turn..

The two subs were a hand-me-down and the amp was a christmas/birthday present. All I needed was the enclosure.

Dodge Magnum. It was given to me by my dad a few years back. I'm not particularly fond of it but oh well.

Where's the speedometer!?

Do these things still have Wankel engines?

Speedometer is digital, it's under the 10.

Yes, it's still a "Wankel". It's the same engine from the 1986+ RX-7's. Difference being Intake size and Exhaust not being peripheral, plus some random little things....

Damn, I want an RX-8.

Also, am I the only one that thinks that Mazda needs to make a hatchback with a rotary motor?

You are such a lucky bugga, looks to be nice roads over there. I hear tales of fantastically possessed motorcycle police with insane skills around the same area. Sound right? Yeah mate, over west here. Our twisty roads haven't got shit in comparison to that of the eastern states. Plus our police are like the arseholes of the universe. If you do 10-15 over, expect to be bent over and have a pineapple shoved up
your clack. Right speed for the right road at the right time is the lay of the land.

Naked's aren't too bad in these parts. We have a mainly Mediterranean climate, and in summer you're smoking behind the fairing in full leathers! :p

Was throwing a few ideas around for doing a tour of Europe on a bike. A couple of mates were/are out and about the traps and it's all very inspiring. Gotta hit Nurburgring before i kick the bucket too. Damn you English folk and your close proximity to awesome things! :p

Yeah, the motorcycle police over here are some of the best riders in the world. Fortunately in a lot of cases, they're more friend than foe. Most forces run a scheme called Bikesafe where you do a day's observed riding with the police. When I did mine, I spent a good 20 minutes chasing the policeman on his R1 down through the twisties at 120mph. :D

It's great because they accept you don't ride a bike to stick to the speed limits, so they teach you how to ride at the speed you want to safely. As long as you're not hooning around in town and you're not being a douchebag they don't care.

Quite impressive, I think.

I've heard that a lot. Puts me off Australia TBH, one of a few things involving your government which makes me think learning Spanish and moving to Barcelona would be a better idea if I want to live in a hot country.

Yeah I bet. I'm wondering how I'm going to cope with Sydney in midsummer, but maybe it's a drier heat. Over here 20 degrees can be really sticky and uncomfortable because it's so humid. I may even have the loan of a bike while I'm over there.

Europe is definitely biking country!

Just to taunt you some more. :E

In fairness, it rains about 280 days a year up there so you don't get to enjoy it all the time. Even down in the south here the weather's only really agreeable between March and October, when it's not raining, and if you don't mind getting a bit chilly for some of that time. A Sydney winter is like our late spring...

I <3 DVN.

LOL @ Scotland, half shite half awesome. Definitely biker country though.

Yeah there's a hell of a lot worse places in the world. Whereabouts do you live?

I love visiting there in the summer, but I don't think I could live there. The weather was atrocious enough in June. 9 degrees at midday in Inverness! I think summer was on a Wednesday that year...

Paignton mate, I was working in Exeter until 2 weeks ago.

Never been TBH, don't really want to, but if i had a bike i'd probably be more interested.

As I said, half of it's beautiful - half of it's godawful. I'd rather go somewhere hot TBH!

Cool. I've been here two years now and I'm starting to get a little bored of Exeter, but a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that I get bored easily. I loved having all these new places to explore when I first moved down here.

I doubt I'll be here for more than a few years, but it is a fantastic place and it's far more home to me than London ever was. In all likelihood I'll eventually move to Bristol or Glasgow (if not overseas). I can well imagine moving back to Devon in later life though.

I just wonder why still noone has managed to put together a decent nightclub in Exeter. It's tragic.

I think most of it's an awesome place. It's just the weather that lets it down (although, ironically, it's because of the shit weather that it's beautiful in the first place). A sunny 13 degree day in mid-June was considered barbecue weather by our impromptu hosts in the Borders. Brrrrrr.
