Whatsup .

I made some brand new songs:

Breathe [Porn Star Mix]
Green Light Earth - Part I
Green Light Earth - Part II

Massive Rework:
Armistice [Version 2 RMX]

I hope you like them as much as I do.

Green Light Earth - Part II Is my baby, I hope you like it. I really love the part towards the end.

Listen To Them Here:
http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

I started a new job working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, so I might not be able to work on any music for a long time.

EDIT: The piano and strings are awesome Veg. Theotherguy, I love that baseline. Do another one. BTW I didn't hear the first one you refer to.

This is the alternate version of Mars Needs Women that I never uploaded. It's just got a completely different beat. I can't decide which one I like better, so there are two versions.

Mars Needs Women (Holy Ghost):
http://media.putfile.com/Mars-Needs-Women-Holy-Ghost

The other version, and the rest of the music I care to demo is at this page o' mine:

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

EDIT:
I started putting my songs up at 128Kbps instead of 320kbps for several reasons.

So I just made another song and just called it 444. It's Electro. It's good I think. I made it in one sitting, so It's by no means finished. I hope you check it out.

I also added a song I did a long time ago that I couldn't stop listening to after I made it. It's a little weird, but it has some addictive quality to it. anyway. there it is. I just posted it under the name Strawberry Pie, since I was eating one today. So they are on my media page now If you feel like hearing something brand new.

Bye.

Vegeta and I were joking last night about how ambient samples should be the best samples for jungle/dnb tracks. So I quite unseriously made a rex sample of a section of an ambient track and added some drums n stuff, but then decided I may as well finish it.

Junglefoolery

My first foray into what I consider jungle. Apparently it sounds too 'blippy,' but that's not surprising considering what I usually make.

Try and guess the ambient sample. TUSS fans might know.

Much like the best compliment to a chef is for people to ask for seconds, the best compliment to an artist is to ask for more. It was really good. I listened to it probably five times in row.

I liked the pads that came on later in. Rhubarb?

I made some new songs, and updated some of my original tracks (like Moving Units, and Haunted CPU) big-time.

You can listen to them here:

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2

Here are their file names:

Fat Sneakers & Fat Speakers

Moving Units II (complex)

Haunted CPU II (very complex)

Fine Pants (Late)

Never Die

the bitrate is low, so they load instantly.

Also fixed some mistakes with 444 and replaced it with GPU 444 (fixed).

It was fun. I used a vocoder and microphone for Never Die and Haunted CPU II. I just did one a couple takes.

I'll have to go into my written lyrics next time, because I just did something spur of the moment. Nice to finally have some vocals.

They are probably all in a different genre. Please check them out.

At least listen to Haunted CPU II and Moving Units II.

Thanks.Bye.

Fat Sneakers is sounding cool, like an intro into something really good.
Fine Pants, Never Die, and Moving Units are neat too...but there's something about your tracks. They seem like they're missing something. Maybe it's the lack of an intro or proper ending, but I know they are mostly WIP anyway. I dunno how to explain it, they all feel like background music for a game/tv show, rather than something you would dance or relax and listen to. 64kbs can't be helping either :p
Eh, probably just me :\

Good stuff anyway, I really like the variety of samples/instruments used, and the beats are great. What program(s) do you use btw?

some of the tracks are very very new, to the point that aren't a true song yet, merely part of a song. Like for example, Never Die, I just started from scratch today, and so it's like a painters swatch, however, I think it's going to be so awesome when I have time to work on it some more. It already sounds really cool IMO.

I won't add a true intro and ending to a song until it's nearly finished. There are a lot of reasons for this, but I won't go into detail.

None of my tracks have really any vocals, besides a few short samples, so that is one thing that is missing, and in some cases, badly needed. I did just get a vocoder, so I can do some pretty cool stuff with that. I do have quite a bit of lyrics written down that I can use.

Also, most of the songs are missing a strong main melody. That's because I don't have a keyboard (musical keyboard). That will not only carry the song, but cover some dead spots.

Some of the songs on my page have newer versions on my hard drive, but they aren't quite far enough along to warrant an update.

Sometimes, I'm not sure I like the direction the song has taken in some respects, so I left old versions up. One example of this is Moving Units. Therefore, I'm putting up a more finalized version of the first version of Moving Units, and just calling it Moving Units 1.5, and deleting Moving Units 0.1

So there you go. Nine new songs or alternate versions of songs posted today.

The four new ones are

Ice Cream (nearly complete, but has placeholder vocals)

Moving Units 1.5

Adrenaline Playset (early progress / Drum&Bass)

Moud II

listen to them on my homepage
(you can open it in a new tab and continue to use the forums while listening)

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

I put them at 96kbps this time so they upload and download fast

Moving Units 1.5
isn't nearly as complex as Moving Units 2, but they are both good on their own merits, so they are both up there.

I've got many many other songs to post at a later date, but I want to tweak some things first.

If you think of any other thing that you notice is missing, have any suggestions, or want to suggest removal of a specific part, please let me know.

I'm about as amateur as they get, and I have no music education. Please feel free to speak simply and frankly.

I really really appreciate any feedback. Thanks for listening

PS. if the volume fluctuates kind of wavy, the real version doesn't sound like that, I'm not sure exactly what is causing it. Probably the stream or the bitrate.

Here's one of my most experimental pieces to date, titled 'The Chase'. Heavily influenced by NIN, it started off as me just pissing about with a hand drum but eventually grew into a very violent and intensive piece. It was really just an experiment to test effects in AA and the effects of certain mic positions. I ended up putting the mic inside of a pint glass, underneath the inside of the hand drum etc.

It is pretty loud, so watch your ears... :p

http://media.putfile.com/Pulse---The-Chase

May extend it and add some ****ed up guitar if I can be arsed in the future.

Haha thanks, would be appreciated if anyone with Last.fm tagged us as "harsh noise".

http://www.last.fm/music/Paul.

Edit; Shit, linked you to another Paul by accident. D: Make sure there's a period at the end of the link.

Great drums and ... atmosphere? Not sure how to describe it, but I really dig it.

Man I really liked that a lot. You know what? It sounded like a music track from HL2, or even from Halo, at parts (edit - or timesplitters!). It's nice to see that if I was making a game I could just come here and ask people if they wanted to compose some music for it.

Thank you guys.
I was going to add some guitar and try and make my mate kim sing some minor vocals in the background then I can attribute it to our new alt./experimental rock band 'Down North'

: D

edit:

Changed, edited and finished the track:

titled : 'Thirty Seven'
Reason? For ages I kept seeing the number 37 everywhere... it freaked me out for some reason. : S

New track just uploaded : "Untitled Unused Understandable"
(top one that plays automatically)

http://www.myspace.com/neptuneuk2001

Oh man. That track is so ****ing good, it's not fair. After I listened to that one, I'm listening to another one of yours 'This Fire Still Burns". This track is so ****ing hot. Ridiculous. It just keeps getting better and better as it goes on.

If I had made either of these tracks, I'd be asking myself why I'm not rich and famous. So are you asking yourself this?

I need to get a guitar. At least so I can add some simple distorted power segments.

I'm jealous. Unfortunately I've only got a couple hours a week to mess with music. I only recently got a new program to create music with, and haven't learned how to do anything fancy yet. Finally figured out how to do vocals and effects. Next thing I want to learn is how to do pitch bending.

I'd pay to have your music. I'm inspired. Don't stop what you're doin' kid. I want to download the tracks. Do you have a direct link, or do I have to become a member of myspace or what?

EDIT: and I was thinking that if you wanted to add vocals, those tracks would be perfect. Something like a trent reznor variety vocals on Thirty Seven, and Black Metal vocals on This Flame Still Burns. The instrumental versions are perfect how they are though, but it might take it to a HNL. 'hole 'nother level. lol

Now that I know how to add effects to samples I completely re-did one of my joints:

Armistice (version 3):

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

It's a lot different than version 2. I can't work on it anymore today, I have to go to bed so I can go to work.

D:

it actually has an ending. for Naudian. lol.

Armistice 2 was cool. Different samples from 3. Anyway. Nobody listened to it I think though. lol

Ok, I only paid $10 for my microphone, so that might be the problem, but I cannot record anything without the vocals popping and peaking when my breath hits it directly. No matter where I move the mic, it will pick up the air pops ... either that or it doesn't pick up the sound.

I wonder if a better microphone would help. Would like something stereo so that I could also use it with a portable recorder to make samples of sounds from all over the place. anyone have a mic that they recommend?

Also, is there some special way to hold it - a particular distance? When I see musicians, they speak right into the mic, and on mine, it sounds best like that - until I say certain letters that push a lot of air. It needs something to block the air or something. Piece of shit. Ready to order... maybe if I have time I'll look at some comparison reviews.

For example. Piss. I said Piss and the P was like 10 decibels above peak.

Hey man thanks for listening and commenting.
If you're interested you can download some of my 192kbps MP3s from: http://neptune.dmusic.com/music/

Armistice, i quite like it overall, it's rather quirky and has it's own thing going : D
Like what you did with the drums

Fat Sneakers & Fat Speakers 2
Love it : D it sounds like a short little skit track from a real album : D

Alright. Thanks. Yeah that's what I was thinking. A short, but interesting, intermission in between tracks. A skit track is an even better idea for it though.

I made a new track last night. This is actually pretty good. could be used as an album outro -

Disturbances (dark ambient)

put up probably my best instrumental Club song -

Mars Needs Women 3 (Club)

wrote a rhyme at work in my head and recorded it when I got home. I think my lyrics are fairly good, but, well, lol, you'll see.

I had to be pretty quiet, I recorded it at about 4:20 AM. I'm sure I can do better -

Sneakers & Speakers 4
(NSFW - Much Profanity - Virus busts a rhyme version (rough take))

please check them out, I'm sure you will be amused.

Here:
http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

I should probably never rhyme again.

Maybe I just need to get drunk and yell into the mic, then it might sound proper. Probably just stick to instrumentals. My voice kinda sucks :(

Damnit. This means I can't quit my day job.

Goodnight

BTW sorry if I'm buggin you guys. I should probably seek a music forum this weekend. I want to get as much done as possible, as quickly as possible. I am way behind where I want to be right now.

Well, I haven't posted here in a while. I've kinda been avoiding the topic after my computer's hard drive crashed on me. This is the second time it's happened, and again I didn't back up any of my project files. So that's about two years worth of work and a bunch of cool works in progress gone, the only tracks remaining being those on my MP3 player. ****in' shit.
So I've sorta avoided the topic, which has been rude of me. D:

"Fat Sneakers & Fat Speakers" is really cool, yet strange enough that it kinda sounds like an early Aphex remix. However, it sounds like a really long intro more than a song. I'd cut down on the repetition a bit and expand upon the track a lot more. "Haunted CPU" is great. There's so much cool little shit going on, and I like your use of panning (something I don't make anywhere near enough use of). You've got varied use of instruments too. :)

"Fine Pants (Late)" kinda gave me a headache though. =P "Armistice" is alright, but it all sounds too quantized, if you know what I mean. You should try to give a bit more rhythm to some of the instruments. Your more recent tracks are a lot better, "Disturbances" being my particular favorite. Nice, haunting use of samples, and you wisely kept the beat sparse. :)

Pulse - "The Chase" is ****ing bitching. Please do more. The track is ultimately missing something, but I'm not really sure where you could go from there. At the very least, it would be cool if you could put the experiment to good use in future pieces.

I couldn't listen to much from neptune or Simonomis. Tracks either wouldn't load or only loaded the first 15 seconds. :\

my computer's hard drive crashed on me. This is the second time it's happened, and again I didn't back up any of my project files.
Oh that's terrible. If you still have the drive, I think it'd be worth $15 to ship it to them and see if they can repair the drive. there are several platters, and your songs might be on a good platter. I've been meaning to back up my songs...

Fine Pants? lol. The samples just fit right, so I went with it. Didn't like it either. You can tell by the name. lol

I'm really glad you liked some of the songs. And Thank you for the suggestions. It makes me feel like I'm really getting somewhere, and makes me want to keep at it.

I took the day off, and have been working on my songs for many hours.

I decided to salvage the best of some songs I made a few months ago, and I think they came out great.

Here are the New Tracks :

Adrenaline Playset 2 (Drum & Bass) - this is turning out much better than I expected. A couple of tweaks and some additional samples and this bitch will be kinda hot.

DUI - This is a fantastic little track IMO. I could loop it if necessary (for more lyrics) (using sample based lyrics at the moment)

Dirty Cop - This track reminds me of a motorcycle cop on the beat. Catchy but not varied enough yet. Plus it re-uses a sample from one of my favorite tracks 'Defeat' (found on page 2)

The Wrong Side Of Town - This track reminds me of driving through the slums in D.C. at night and being lost. I like it. Just needs a few additional samples, and some more drum variation.

Waiting For A Breeze - This song reminds me of being on an island beach at the beach bar, enjoying the breeze. Nice. (loops once)

Blu Wav - This seems like it would fit right in as Jet-Ski racing video game music. Quite good.

I'm up to two pages of songs on Putfile, I hope some people listen to them and let me know which ones are keepers.

All songs are 112kbps and should play uninterrupted.

Songs are here:

I have so many little projects going in Reason, atm. Picking one to stay with is really hard because it seems I hit dead ends too fast. I've completed a few projects, but, nothing I really want to post. I am working on something, though, that I really like. So... we'll see how far that goes.

Lol I'm in the exact same position...'cept I like quite a few of my WIP but just can't get anything done with them.

Tricks of the being poor and making music anyway trade!

Try wrapping the mic head with a thin piece of cloth, not too much minimise muffling, but it often helps stop the horrible sound when air hits the mic too fast.

New Song I made today. I think the beat turned out sick. Vocals came out kinda OKl.. ITS HARD.. A couple lines of lyrics had to be butchered because my voice didn't match right on a re-take.

(NSFW contains audio profanity)

The song is just called Warning.

here:

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

****ing shame, I had like 7 minutes of vocals recorded and for some reason all it was was silence.

I had my lyric notepad onscreen blocking the record meter, I didn't notice. ****ing pissed me off. Originally I think I did the voice different - probably better. That's OK though, I think I'm going to redo it next weekend, with more lyrics.

I'm not going to lie to you.

Those vocals are terrible, and hilarious.

lol

I'm tha best mayne.

I diyd it.

Hahha oh shit

thanks for checking it out

I am extremely surprised how difficult this actually is.

I think I might drop the slur thing, and just speak reasonably and clearly. I also am missing a few key lyrics that I had to drop and that will help pull it together I hope. It was fun talking like that though. I tried this other style that was even way more extreme and over the top.. like the craziest voice that Ol Dirty Bastard ever did. I couldn't keep from laughing though.

I think the beat came out so sick, so at least I have that.

We should have a rap thread again. I missed the last one somehow. Some of them had me laughing.

Loving the almost french touch bassline.

Very slick production.

I almost wanted a heavier snare. Sometimes.

I've got a brand new song I've been working on for a couple days. I'm taking a break to get some perspective on where to take it from here.

I think you are going to like this one, please let me know if you have any suggestions.
