Enjoy!

This is a great song. I had it cranked up real loud. I had this tune in my head for days after listening. Very professional.

I've got two new mixes up if anyone is interested.

Mainframe (substance abuse mix), and Armistice [v4] (century mix). let me know if you like:

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

Some details:

Mainframe (substance abuse mix) (128kbps) - added some new synths, basses, and effects, cleaned up arrangement a bit

This and the original Mainframe mix uses about 16 drum variations. I'm thinking I'll pick my favorite 8 or 12 for the next mix because it's a little too varied perhaps.

Armistice [v4] (century mix) (128kbps) - changed the bpm, added effects, cleaned up arrangement a bit. Good quality, it's more a chill song. Just noticed recently that the drum work derived from Haunted Computer and I didn't even remember. Maybe I'd crossfade one into the other and have it part 1/part 2. The drums don't sound all that similar anymore though after so many changes.

Fantastic keyboards and bass in that one. You should remix that with harder drums. I'd love to hear that.

My latest track:

Destroy All Humans (part II)

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

details:

added bass synth
added a slowly morphing beat
added FX
added effects to synths
added synth variations
cleaned up arrangement
used effects on keyboards
added a morphing keyboard section
changed name
(160kbps compressed mp3)

I like it. I really do.

It's simple, it's pretty, and it's got a nice compositional arc. If that's what you're aiming for, you've successssed.

Oh, and, I've listened to it fiveish times now and I still like it.

@Kinetic
I like some of the sounds you've made in "Orbit", but there's an intermittent clicking noise that hurts my ears when I listen to it. And some parts repeat or stretch on for too long. And that noise at the end killed my ears. =P
"Rinse" is a lot better IMO. Lots of cool glitchy effects and noises, although I find the synth leads to be a bit out of place and flat.

@Crazy
You've really come a long way, man. It sounds real professionally done and you've got a great ear for catchy melodies. It sounds like you put a lot of work in fine-tuning a lot of the automation; great attention to detail. All around I can find no complaints. Excellent job! Same goes for both of your little doodles. "Title Track" reminds me of Mega Man at some parts... I echo Virus' sentiment that you try it with harder percussion.

@Virus
Your Substance Abuse mix is real nice and grungy. But for all the cool synths you have, the beat sounds like it could use a kick. Purely an EQ issue, I think. "Destroy All Humans" is pretty cool though. Can't think of much to recommend.

@Qonfy
Sounds like an NIN piece. :) I'd like to see you try something similar with a longer length. I can barely make out the vocals, although I don't know if that's intentional or not. Is it a sample or your own voice?

I've uploaded a few things recently. Here's a few WIPs I'd already rendered and had on my MP3 player before my HD died. They're not really complete, or otherwise flawed structurally (IMO), but I was mostly just trying out different experiments.

"Garble" by Distisec

Here I was playing around with making crude, graintable-ish patches using NN19 samplers and high-speed arps. It's imperfect, but I thought the sounds/effects you could make were kind of interesting.

"Anter" by Distisec"

I just didn't really know what direction to go with it, hence the abrupt appearance of the amen break (don't judge me). It's pretty much 3 variations of a project file mashed into one. I would have liked to give this one a lot more work. :\

"060687" by Anasynth

Just a single patch that I looped and put on my player to listen to. Doesn't go anywhere. Just liked the sound.

"dnklJahr" by Distisec

This one is actually recent. You may find it kinda "wtf?" at first. I'm starting to play around with more transformative elements in my tracks, ie. having whole sound elements vary or graduate between preset states. This is an example of some of that.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody tried out the new Max 5?

****ing absinthe! Where you been man?

Thanks for the comments, I'm very flattered. Jesus, your tracks are ****ing fresh. Love the details, the tracks are really well-composed. 060687 is great, I love the sound and the harmonies. dnklJahr as well, what you're describing is exactly what transpires as I listen. It's really inspiring!
You've got this odd aureal feel in your music that's incredibly coherent from track to track.

It's the reverb.

Every instrument must be half-drenched in it or it's ****ing UNACCEPTABLE.

Ambient, introish track. Lots of randomised synth.http://media.putfile.com/---------Orbit

Heavier, almost industrial track.http://media.putfile.com/---------Rinse
[/FONT]

I really like Rinse. The muddiness of the bass synth (not sure exactly how to describe) bothered me a little, over all nice track. Orbit... I dunno. Maybe I didn't "get it" but I agree with Absinthe about that one noise that just pierces the ears.

I liked this as well. It just has that... "kick ass" vibe to it all. Very well done.

@Qonfy

It was my own voice; and yeah the distortion was intentional. Though figuring out what I said isn't impossible: a friend deciphered it within, say, ten minutes after receiving it. It's not that important, what I said, I've just been toying around with sampling lately and find the idea of vocal samples in tracks interesting. I'll be doing it more.

You touched on something that I really need to work on, a weakness in my eyes: length. I can't seem to create a track that's not anything longer than two or so minutes. If I do, it just starts to sound mundane and boring; which to that I'd rather have a shorter piece than boring. Just something for me to think about.

As for your tracks, I really did like all of them. Harij is right with the common attribute comment. Your pieces tend to take me to a different place, which, I would say is mission accomplished? I rather like your unqiue textures and patterns; also, there's never too much reverb (well... maybe, but I didn't see any hint of that in your recent stuff).

I'm really glad you guys liked it.

I've got an improved version. I don't think I can listen to the original version any more. It takes a minute to get going.

Destroy All Humans [part II] (Annihilation Mix) (160kbps)

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

I would classify it as something like - Low BPM Electronica, but feel free to let me know what you think it is

Apologize for the relatively low quality, my upload is shit.

some details:

lowered bpm
decreased pitch stereo drums
extended/sustained the meat of the song
additional melody synth
altered and added more effects
altered the FX
tweaked a few things
???

prophet.

BTW Because of my horrible connection, I have trouble playing any high bitrate stuff that you guys did. that 320kbps causes catastrophe.

I did get to hear some entire tracks, and a little of of others. Everyone has such a different style. Each one is a very good example of the different genres. I really look forward to hearing more from everyone.

I haven't spent a lot of time working on things in the past couple weeks, but I do have some brand new in the works

Anyway, I hope you like the new Mix.

late night dimension skipping, super proud of this one.

Destroy All Humans [part II] (Annihilation Mix) (160kbps)

http://www.putfile.com/virustype2/media

It's awesome that you keep improving and remaking tracks you're working on. I can't be arsed to do that myself :D
I like the way it's turning out. I'm thinking it needs more of a centralized reverb or effect structure, make it feel less "dry", can't describe it more than that.

theotherguy that is actually really awesome. The song has a strong message behind it. I think the the line "You need to start again; pick up the pieces" seems a bit out of place, not really working with the others. Apart from that, fantastic!:smoking:

This is a pretty fun attempt at a 40 minute sleep-type ambient set. I've composed all the tracks, they interchange smoothly to the point that you don't know where one ends and the other begins.
There's some minor beats but mainly melodies and experimental atmospheres conducive for a relaxing environment. Some dark ambient at the end.

Listening now. This is really awesome. I've always wanted to make something like this.

I reckon I should attempt something like this with my hardware, though I need to get more FX boxes prolly.

Edit: That was excellent, I loved every part.

Thank you vegeta! That sounds like a great idea, i think a shoegaze'R'us delay + reverb should suffice.
I took a catnap to the track earlier and it played quite smoothly, success! :D

Currently listening, and it's very nice.
Out of interest, what are you producing on?

Thank you. I'm using a friend's laptop and ableton live.
I like your Shadow of the Sun remix, very nice composition, the EQing and mixing is a bit mad though!

I think my subconscious intention was to ridiculously overdo it. The original isn't that heavy, but I wanted to make something heavier than my brother for once. I owe it all to FL's Fast dist and Parametric EQ's. And volume sliders.

Your first is simple but nice, the second seems really echoed and faded (intentional?), third is lovely and MIDIish, 4th is pretty flash too. I'm thinking they're not too serious, though?

There's too much stuff to comment on so I just want to say that everything posted in the last couple pages has been awesome, keep it up etc.

I can't finish anything so I guess I'll share some WIPs soon...

Omg, i'm going ****ing insane, not being able to download shit off of Putfile anymore.

WRRRYYYYYYYYY???

That's pretty cool, sea. I love the guitar wails near the end :D

Here's the first thing I've made in the past six months that I legitimately enjoy and think is really cool. I was fiddling around in Reason for a bit, and then by some stroke of magic I learned cabling, mixing, and device automation in the span of an hour and a half. This is the result - only a short instrumental intro/framework, but it sounds cool and it reminds me a lot of NIN.

[ninja edit]

[not-so-ninja edit]

---> Untitled Intro v4. The word "intro" is going to have to be dropped from the title soon.

I'm out of ideas for this song. Thoughts?

I ended up watching all 34 of those guys' videos

I really love the everything in Agapo except the drums. The patterns are good but it's just the samples & effects are kind of bleh/don't quite fit. I think I'd rather hear the track with more quiet/ambient percussion like you can hear at 2:40-3:00, and less loud sections. The rest is really nice though :D

Thanks. :) It seems that the consensus among people is that my drums are usually lacking in one way or another. I'll have to work on them.

One oscillator, made out of fish. Filters made out of leather.

So I actually did enough to a track to call it finished. You can hear at the end that I could even keep going with it, or extend some sections, but for now I'm done:

http://media.putfile.com/Naud---Stage

It starts out kind of ambient, then it gets all...trance...house...thing.
The drums are very simple but I think they fit well enough.
Some parts are probably a bit weird, like that one sound that's out of sync between 1:40-2:10. I was trying to do something there and it didn't work, but I just left it.

One osc? What's the waveform?

I like the ambient parts much better. Middle section didn't do much to me, but then again I'm totally burned out on housish sounds. Do more ambient!

Obviously the (in?)famous wave created in 1919 after the war by two German scientist/butchers. It was created in its entirety by grinding fishscales onto the patch cord jacks of an early modular synth, and then submerging said synth in a saline solution. The component waveforms are a saw and a sine, but when overloaded with the salt/fish mixture produced thus:

fishformuh1.jpg

That is obviously a poor recreation of the original analogue sound, which, when first discovered by the aforementioned Germans, they considered 'vehry doob.'

Interesting. So, you have one of the original synths?

Two tracks today, 'Partings in the sky' short instrumental and 'Do You Dream In Digital?' some industrial metal thing or something.

Just about to listen to a load of tracks, been absent in this thread for ages : P
How you guys comin along?

This thread was a good idea! Except I get to find out how much better everyone else is at producing music than me : P

=======================================================================================================================
Naudian - Stage : Like how it all comes in! It flows pretty well and I like how it transitions, wouldn't change it a bit, so nothing to critisize :p

Paul - Rigby : lol seriously mate, how did you get those sounds?! I could be listening to anything! D: I'd like to make a collab track with some crazyass sounding shit!
Viperidae - Agapo pretty chilled out, yet harsh in parts. A bit of a contrast there, sounds similar to some of the stuff I listen to! what electronic artists you currently into? I would add that to my chilled out electro playlist! For that, you earn a <3

Stigmata - <3 That is all. Its ace.

Sea - Not a big fan of the lead tone tbh mate, the rhythm guitar is nice and crunchy however! Everything else is pretty good. What software you using may I ask?

Crazy 'makes too much music' Harij - VST Acid : bit meh, it's not bad like! But it doesn't stand out very much to me.
- Im a decent guy : I like this one a lot more! The piano in the background really adds to it!
- Jazz shit : A nice short little quirky tune ^_^
- inane Medley: A mini masterpiece, my favourite of the 4! It deserves a 'is less than 3'

KineticAesthetic - Shadow of the Sun (KA Remix) : I really really like this and would love to do a collab wit chu any time in the future. You, too, get a <3

Listening to Do You Dream Digital. This is pretty damn good

wasn't really feeling the Partings in the Sky too much. Started off great. I liked the first part. Maybe it went on for a little too long, but OK. The heavy part was good, but not as good, so I don't think it helped the song.

Did I mention to you when I first heard The Fire Still Burns that It sounded like it might be even better with some hardcore vocals? Let it start out as instrumental, then just where you have the ending come in - instead of that - BAM! The sickest shit you ever heard.... you would have to increase the length of the song by a good amount. I love that track

You are seriously talented. I have no idea why you put everyone above you in production. You've got potential to be a career musician

Listening to Bridge To Horizon right now. This is a perfect intermission instrumental for in between longer songs.

That's very nice. I'm suddenly tired. I enjoy the slightly halting beat.
