Post your latest music tracks/WIP's and comment!

Hmm. I knew it was familiar but I guess I was off. (The drum sounds)

I would like to point out that my previous post in this thread was a lie.

I haven't mastered the gated saw.

Also, Sea, that track is pretty awesome. I like the use of the Club Basic template.

You're trying to make fun of making music on the pc or something?

Would I be right in thinking you're using an electric drum module here?

If so (and this applies to any other digital/synthy instrument), you could pass the audio through a guitar cab (clean or dirty as you like), and position a good mic a fair distance from it in the room. Make a recording of the part, and mix as appropiate with the original. The added ambience can really improve the cohesion of isolated parts.

Not such a fan of the song (down to my tastes), but the sounds you're getting are really good. The vocal seems to lack control (timing and dynamics), and the bass drum seems to overpower some of the other parts (mainly the snare - the interplay between the two could perhaps be made more clear) but they're the only things that niggled me with that mix. Nicely done :)

theotherguy, I don't know why or how, but I really like most of the stuff you put out.

The levels of the different instruments - including your voice are so much better this time, though I much prefer the other songs you've done.

I really like the drum break with the toms, but an occasional variation of it would have added some ... variation.

you remind me of my cousin RJ [Dropjaw Bertone]

Listen to the song 'I remember' on this page

It takes a minute to get going, but the chorus reminds me of the chorus' on some of your songs. Chilling

All of those were rather neat. I like listening to these little projects.

Don't really like this one very much:

I didn't like it as much as your other tracks (wat), but I still liked it.

As for your latest one, the general rule applies: I liked it.

This is my latest, and, if I can be immodest for a second, definitely greatest track.

I've finally mastered one of the hardest dance music techniques, the gated saw.
Tell me what you think, and if you like it, add me on MySpace.

Nice beat and I loved the synths.

Mm, dark and depressing. You captured the atmosphere really well, but I didn't really want to listen to it twice. :\

Thanks

If you liked those, why don't you listen to this one? It's one of my best. Simple and classy drums / bass / piano

http://media.putfile.com/Past-WIP

I put it up a long time ago, but nobody listened to it. Perhaps because I put so many songs up at once.

I really like little do-dads (for lack of a better word) like this. I make a lot of those kind of things just messing around. Good stuff.

You weren't supposed to like it, but thanks.

You're right it sucks.

/what I would say

I was going to post a little thing I've been working on the past couple days, but Putfile is being a raging ******.

I quite enjoyed that. It's not really my type of music, but I liked the general feel of it, especially the drums.

Urm, so, I've had this on the go for ages. It started off messing around with chords and synths, but it's evolved to something I quite like. Only things I'm not sure about are the hi hat and the strange effect produced by maxing out the mid range. I don't like the first as much as I want, and I do like the second.

This is a link.

nice chords, like the shen/pentatonicish scale. Hi-hat is a bit obnoxious. Like the reverse string synth (or whatever the synth is with a high attack). Its crying out desperately for a deep bass root to the chords.

a fun little track i made way too quickly in reason. dark electro meets, uh, some sort of breakbeat retrospective at the end.

Jesus, the out-of-nowhere dubstep rythm later on is ****ing priceless, hahaha.
I enjoyed the track. I think you could have widened it out abit, and increased the volume of the kick drum, because it's really low at the moment... unless that was what you were going for. Other than that, really nice mood.. Maybe it could use some shoegaze-ish delay or extreme reverb to make it easier to get completely lost in the track?

A little Hip-Hop loop I threw together for fun -

Many Moons

I probably shouldn't have looped it 4 times, twice was enough

Reminds me of public enemy with the musique concrete-like grains of sound. Good shit!

Playing with 9th chords and feedback, a good idea turned into utter cheeze:

I like it alot. The tone of your voice annoys the shit out of me, but other than that you can sing, and the composition is really nice. Maybe it's because I only enjoy bassy or gritty vocals.

I hate my voice too. I listen pretty much exclusively to bands with deep male vocals.

Your voice isn't bad per se, I guess it's very very american indie the way you sing it. Kinda sounds like the pixies. I think you would sound much better if you spat your lines with more strength and power, teeth clenched, emotion, I imagine just abit more variation in the strength and tone would make a big difference.

I wish hip hop was that interesting. Very nice. Develop it into a bossa nova chill song plz.

I immensely enjoyed this. I had my speakers up loud and the bass swell at the beginning scared the shit out of me. The synth part that comes in at 0:56 ish seems a bit loud. However, nice beats, loved the tiny pauses in between, and the whole track has a damn nice groove, if slightly disconnected.

It was never really meant to have a prominent beat, which is why I was worrying about the hi hat. I might do some panning for once in my life, though. See how it turns out.
Made another instrumental. Turned out well

Eye Driver

Once again, very nice little track. There were a few bits that seemed to grate a tad, namely some chords you used and that distorted vocal sample. Turning it down maybe a tad might help, I dunno. I'd like to hear that whole track slowed down and turned into a chilled breaks/sampled track, like something DJ Shadowish.

Thanks for the feedback. Harij, all of your songs make me want a keyboard. I like this latest one. I kept wondering how the keyboards would have been complimented by a trance-like beat. Love the ending.

Made another bass heavy instrumental.

Miami Trunk Destroyer

Fairly early into the project, but I really like the way this one is turning out. It sounds best on large woofers.

I'll probably add some kind of vocals, but I want to work on some other stuff first.

Just got a new Mutli-Effects Pedal (Digitech RP200a), I found in the used bin at my local guitar shop, so I picked it up. Cost me $170.

Here I am just messing around. I play all my own things (stuff I made up), except a few Rush songs, which you'll probably recognize (I play alot without an amp when I practice and I was REALLY surprised I could play The Spirit Of Radio, that made my day today, tbh). Otherwise I'm just playing random crap/practicing, there this one riff in there I play alot, I know you'll think it's from a song (all my friends think it is), but it's not, honestly. I just put my MP3 player on record and put it in front of my amp, then I forgot about almost immediately, lol, that's why most of it is mistakes.

I love this thing. It's also my first pedal, so some if it sounds wierd, I'm just getting used to pushing a pedal while playing.

Played on my lovely Les Paul Studio.

http://www.2shared.com/file/3713467/e7e709a5/VOC001.html

BY THE WAY - It's not edited at all, straight from my MP3 player to my computer to the net.

Multi-FX pedals are shite, they break after a few months. Go for the individual effects/distortion pedals, last a lot longer and the sound quality is greater by miles.

Hmm, I've gotten some pretty kickass sounds out of my PodXT Live, and that's pretty much entry level multiFX compared to the other stuff out there, you'd be surprised at how much artists are digital now. It just takes more time to get a good sound is all.

Not to mention my pedal was dropped onto concrete floor once, and not even a scratch.

What I meant by break was the sound quality seems to deteriorate over time, in my experiance anyway.

Dogg-- have you got a better microphone you can record with? Also, sounds like a TV in the background or something. anyway, good stuff.

I want to do a collaboration with someone who plays guitar. I can program some acoustic rock or metal drums. I'll play around with your file - maybe cut a piece or two out and show you what I mean with a little track.

Bottomheavy indeed! I started nodding to this, funky as shit.
Thanks. Putfile sucks, it's missing most of the low end of the song. The 32bit WAV of it shakes my house.

I'm going to have to find a better host.

Speaking of which, your highway song on putfile isn't playing. I've tried about 7 times to listen to it. Looks like you have two copies of it, and neither of them work. You might have to delete them both and upload it again.

That'd be cool, but I'm kind of small right now. I only have my MP3 player to record, I was going to buy a more expensive multi-effects that could record right to the PC, but it was out of my price range..

I still have to buy 3 wall mounts for my guitars and something to record with, and I make almost nothing at this current job, so if you don't mind the quality of an MP3 player, I wouldn't mind doing some stuff.

Oh, and the background is the pedal, there's these rather large buttons on it to switch the presets, that's what the clicking is in the background.

Ahh, my bad. Yeah, I just wanted to point out that digital isn't necessarily bad compared to analog.
Analog is warmer, and digital is colder, but if you're smart about your digital setup you can get it to sound analog, easy. Analog will always have a larger frequency response though because it's simply analog.

A song about leaving for college in 7 days:

This was really good. Your voice did fit in well. And yeah, I can relate to the feeling...

It's impossible to quickly summarize the differences between analogue and digital, it all depends on what type of equipment you're talking about and what type of qualities you want to prioritize.. They both have their respective advantages, digital's biggest being that it's cheaper and easier to use.

You're quite perceptive :p , that's exactly what's wrong. Putfile doesn't work for me currently so I tried this host:

And here's another one. It started out as an attempt with mixing dub and drum n bass, evolved a bit and turned out to be a pretty banging track. The buildups, interchanges etc aren't what they should be, and my headphones aren't good for monitoring these bass levels, but here goes:
