Post your latest music tracks/WIP's and comment!

That's rather funky, T. Hirschberg. However, it got a tad loopy... The marimba sound is lol.

Thanks. Yeah it's very short, and I looped it a few times so it wouldn't be 20 seconds.

I don't really have anything else to add to it, so I'll leave it like that.

Yeah, I was laughing out loud (at the library even) when I made it.

Hah, that was pretty cool.

[edit] How about a few little things from me?

Holy wow. I enjoyed those immensely. Very BoCish. And to be honest, while longer might have been nice (for me), they're a great length. It's like eating little snacks. Delicious snacks. Of music. I loved the sampling of the train lady.
First was my favourite, but the other two were great also.

Aaaalso.

I started this yesterday, finished (mostly) today. I tried reasonably hard. Comments would be cool.

Very very good. Love this. What are you producing on? Mixwise I think the drums need to be louder.
It's a decent track, nice little idea so to speak, but it doesn't feel there's anything memorable staying with me afterwards.

hahaha, the hexagon sun shines in these tracks mate! great stuff. could use more rythmwise, but that's just my opinion. generally well produced, I get the feeling that you've really come along way since the first tracks I heard by you.

Intro is ****ing brilliant. Perfect strings and vibes.
I think the synth bass is kind of obtrusive, the chords are good but the timbre is abit simple, just smack a chorus or something on it.. Abit of a harold budd feel on that one anyway.

The main drill'n'bassy sequence is abit dull. You could do more with the growling synth at 04.00, tweak abit of the effects, extend on the melodies. The problem with drill'n'bass tracks is that they take months to perfect. But still, overall the mood is pretty good.

I agree with Harji Parji thing about the synth bass. It feels a bit over-layered especially in comparison with the really clean strings chords. The clashing notes the synth has is a bit too ugly next to the strings. Otherwise I liked it. And I have the benefit of hearing and comparing with your other tracks. Yeah.

I don't understand how you guys can sit there and listen to techno... D:

That.. That doesn't make sense. You make something you hate? What?

Yes, I make guitar stuff, I could see why you'd make techno if you liked it, but why would you make it if you didn't?

Music has universal concepts that exist within every genre, perhaps theotherguy wanted to explore some other things.

he made like 50 rock songs and 1 rave song and you:

I make stuff I don't like either. I'll have to think about why. I guess just messing around.

That.. That doesn't make sense. You make something you hate? What?

I write techno music occasionally because it is
a) easy to write
b) easy to explore musical ideas and mixing techniques
c) fun to write

I don't have to like listening to a genre of music to write it, I just have to like writing it.

Resolve?

I'm not too knowledgable about terms in music theory.

Heh, work? That's me having a blast.

Making the jam is the hard boring part.

Thanks for watching :D

Yeah, you should do some more. Keep it interesting, change the camera angle a little for each one, IMO

I do have more, lulz. Look at my youtube. Not all of 'em are so great though.

I just want to get a synthesizer. Really need that. It's tedious to do it with a mouse, even if I have a sound that I want to make a keyboard segment with.

I think I'll email my brother tonight about it. He's got an old Roland D70 that was awesome at the time. Last time I saw it, it was out so his kids could play with it.

Never had a keyboard but I guess it just hooks up via MIDI and I'm good. I just want to do some simple melodies and chords.

My midi keyboard is essential to my music production, especially on the computer. Couldn't live without it.

Some updates, my music project is beginning to kick off. A local club played a track and the DJ veterans who hung out there (including Vibrasphere) really enjoyed it. They suggested me to send it to a mastering agency, amongst a wealth of advice.

I've also gotten a friend as a vocalist, she's practically a bandmember now, we've gotten a practicing locale and a girl who's a trombone player (could be interesting!) and we're gonna fix a proper myspace page, add the DJ's and their connections and get a little thing going.
Exciting as hell! Can't think of a good bandname though, since we're no longer a duo... Haha!

Jesus, look at all that stuff! But why are you humping the keys??? :p :p :p :p

That's awesome Harij. Best of luck with your band.

Glad you enjoyed my jam. :)

cheers! yeah you're kicking ass with that setup man, you should go out and set up a gig somewhere!

Very nice for first thing in the morning. Even on laptop speakers your pads and shit sound wonderful and lush. Not quite as dark as some of your previous similar pieces.

Sorry for the delay in the response to these posts. I haven't really had time to sit down at the computer for awhile.

Haha, thanks man!

I liked Fold a lot. The intro, as Harij said, was ****ing brilliant! I liked the atmosphere of it all, and I didn't find the synth bass as a negative as others did. Good stuff man.

:) Thanks for the comments.

I'm using Reason, and I agree with the drums comment. As for the second, I agree. I worked a bit on this, but somehow I couldn't make it work. I notice I am getting "routine" in the melodies I create, so something I need to work on detaching myself from.

Very atmospheric. Nice.

See, people! you can make great tracks with reason! I'm actually surprised by that, the sound is not at all like your average reason track, and I mean that in a really really good way. I think a good idea for you would be to start by keeping the drum transients, kick snare etc, a tad higher voulme than the rest of the music. I know what you mean with melodies, I start dabbling with the same chords and stuff way too often. I think it's a familiarity issue, you feel safer with the stuff you know better.

Not made any tunes in ages til this one.

"Desert Scorpion"

http://media.putfile.com/Desert-Scorpion

Dunno what genre I'd class it as, its a pretty simple tune just guitar, bass, drums and a quiet synth.
****ING awesome. Kickass attitude, post-apocalyptic vibes, jesus. I'd honestly pay to see this shit live.

Anyway, this is a really fun attempt at completely overhauling one of Kompakt Duo's (we're currently brainstorming for the new name) first tracks, nocturnal emission. I always felt like it's a pretty good jazzy dance track, but it suffered from shitty sounds and production overall, (reason combined with "i don't care how a compressor works, I just want to make it louder") was made way too hastily, so i imported all the midi from reason into ableton and did a shitload of changes, I put most effort in making it more atmospheric and funky.
Also, I'm really enjoying a new "mastering" plugin which doesn't completely destroy the tracks, so that's a plus! Nowhere near perfect but it's fun to practice and learn.

oh yeah, I almost forgot, I've got the mic working so we're creating some tracks for the vocalist and stuff for the band's demo, we haven't done anything except I did a few short tests by myself. It's in swedish and terrible, for shits n giggles. :p
http://media.putfile.com/du-suger-balle (10 sec rap track, fake arabic accent "you suck balls, everybody sucks balls, everybody sucks balls but me")
http://media.putfile.com/du-suger-pa-en-kalebass (1 min drum and bass, "you suck a calabash")
http://media.putfile.com/feddes-ballar ("i own fede's balls")

also, a remaster/mix of Inside lights, made it shorter and more snappy, pumpy and shit, added synths and strings at the end (Reason represent!). Spent ages getting the levels of the "woo dance" chorus right, but hell if i'm satisfied! I'm gonna fix it a little bit more. But the master is really sleek, it ain't loud but the dynamics and stuff are just about right, spent ages with multiband headache shit

I heard this song a while ago but I don't know the title or artist, so I've recreated a bit of it:
http://media.putfile.com/vat-is-zis

Anyone recognize it? The original sounds like something from daft punk but I don't know if that's it.

(didn't feel like making a thread just for this)

Also I <3 crazyharij.

This is a track I made during a Hurricane and I was concerned the power could go out any minute, but I was really in the zone so I kept going. Using google I found that Hurricane Isabella hit in 2003, so that's when I made it.

It was created on hardware and software I no longer have. It's not even a good master.

I just never finished it. I might chop it up and use parts of it, or loop it for the foundation of another song.

Anyway, it's kinda cool, please check it out before I take it down in the coming weeks to replace it with my latest shit.
