Spontaneous ninjam:

www.pixelatomy.com/stuff/jynxjam.mp3

Took a synth pattern I had made in Renoise and transferred it onto my EM-1 for fun. Programmed some percussion on there as well. Ran the signal into my Virus for extra effects.
So I started jamming and then some other people joined, and it went pretty well. Near the end some foreign guy came in and started talking about god knows what, and it, strangely, fit pretty well. I dunno, I like the sound of people speaking other languages.

Scaffolding is cool. The drum patterns are cool (dat 7/8) but I feel they should have some FX processing to fit with those synths. They sound a bit out of place. Still a really cool track.

Similar problems with Relapse. Your composition is nice, but you need to get some effects and compression going for more cohesive tracks.

So are you using Ableton Live to produce? I use Ableton for live midi sequencing/recording when jamming. I bought an APC-40 specifically for that purpose.

Thanks, Veg! Yeah, I use Ableton.

Currently I have no equipment to record with but I'll probably get an Akai MPK Mini keyboard soon. Sucks to have only two octaves but I want something compact and cheap. A lot better than using a keyboard keyboard, at least.

Good choice. Two octaves is enough for playing around to come up with ideas. And the drum pads are a nice plus.

Third track. Tried some sampling, fun as hell. Overall making this track was very, very enjoyable. I also remixed Relapse a bit but it's still a disgusting pile of shit.

Edit: Apparently, creepy shit happens when you post a link from a mobile phone. Let's all look at it and prepare for 21/12/12.

I liked that. Cool stuff. If I had any critique it's that the vocal sample could have used more processing.
I was really grooving to this song. It's so catchy, even without a melody to hum.

A lot different this time. Ambient, maybe dark ambient track with a lot of samples from a Disney cartoon from the 50's. I really enjoyed making this, it's so fun to tweak and experiment with all kinds of subtleties.

Someone commented that it reminds him of Bioshock, which was really surprising. I never though about Bioshock when I made the track but Bioshock is my favorite game of all time by far. Now I feel the Rapture vibes myself too.

How do you get so many comments :v

Really creepy and cool. The samples are used really well.
The (triangle?) pad probably would have sounded more fitting if it was playing a non-major scale, but oh well :p

Thanks! I get comments because I post in the Soundcloud threads of 4chan's /mu/ and I promise feedback for feedback.

Also, other people need to start posting here again.

I really like when the chimey synth thing kicks in at 1:05. Offsets the whole thing really nicely. Also the way it all builds and drops out at 2:30 is great, actually just the way you keep shifting the focus from the ambient noise and samples to the melody and beat at the forefront of the track and then back again is a cool contrast. Only criticism I have is that the samples felt like a bit much at times, they could have been used more sparingly in parts and more intensely in others to give the track more breathing room.

The Bioshock comparisons are really only superficial, it's probably just the general musical style coupled with the washed out, underwater sounding treatment you gave the samples.

Well, it was worth staying up all morning to finish this:

Going with a dark mood, inspired mostly by a very obscure track called Hostile Borders, by Datarapist (you can find that here: http://archive.org/details/hemp004 )
Drew inspiration from other artists as well, like Slugabed.

The main piano sample (including the voice midway through) is taken from a TV show called Darkplace. The square synth and distorted basses are from my Virus TI.
Made with Renoise.

Just uploaded my first set, an EP I've been planning ever since I started producing. A lot of the songs are old ones which I already had on Soundcloud but they have all been edited somehow. One of them was split up in two parts. Completely new tracks are no. 1, 3 and 5. If people like it, maybe I'll put it on Bandcamp. Feels like a remote dream, though.

Made this earlier tonight. It started out with one mysterious sounding synth. Then I was playing around and threw in the Lost Woods melody (some of it and it's not exactly the same) from Ocarina of Time and it kinda fit. Then I just went from there. It's minimal electronic stuff like everything else i've made. One of the best sounding ones imo.

It creeps me the hell out. I like it.

Makes good late night insomnia listening. Definitely NeptuneUK approved.

ah I gotta get my groove back (if I ever had it) About 80% of the stuff I've been coming out with recently... just feels uninspired... Might have to have a few spliffs here and there again...

I thought the drums were great. They were simple but not lazily composed, it seems. Every other component was just as simple and composed awesomely. The only thing that jarred me was the timbre of the sax, if that's what it was. For how ethereal everything else sounded, the sax seemed out of place and objectively cheap sounding. But again, I'm just talking about the timbre, not the composition.

I'm a huge fan of instrumentals and this track was a great listen. Also, in the time it took me to write this soundcloud has cycled through a few of your songs. I shall follow you.

Awesome stuff.

Hey, thanks a lot. I saw you followed. Gave your tracks a listen to. Followed back. Akai is pretty awesome. I didnt know you were on Valvetime so I sent you a message on SC.

I recently finished a new track. It's been a long time since I did that.

Some kinda chillwavy electronica I guess. Gives you the good feels. I enjoyed making it a lot, and I hope you'll enjoy listening to it just as much. The Soundcloud audio quality is pretty harmful in this one, though.

That is a strange track. The instruments are strange anyway. Some very cool sounds and some really cheesy ones.

Haven't posted anything here in a while. I just released my second EP on Bandcamp, titled Meridian EP. There's chill electronic, downtempo and stuff like that. Oh, and a drone interlude I had a lot of fun creating. The whole thing took a lot of time and effort, I think I worked on 10 songs in total before settling with this 15-minute collection.

You can listen to it and download it for free here: http://curacy.bandcamp.com/

I also did a couple of tracks for a tribute album of Radiohead's Kid A that musicians of 4chan's music board /mu/ did. Did some genre exploring and fell in love with making ambient and drone music. There's a download link to the full album in the descriptions.

Nice stuff, I enjoyed listening. Where'd you find the drum samples in Hidden Stream?

Super Secret Exclusive Preview Track Just For You, ValveTime

Hey, d00dz. So like, y'all know I have an album coming out with my band and stuff and that.

Well, the band currently have a private SoundCloud link to the opening track on the album which has the current function of a response to DJs / Record Label People / Venues / Organisers etc. when we're in conversation with them and they ask if we have anything they can listen to before the album comes out.

Technically, I'm probably "not supposed" to link you guys to it but IDGAF. So just for you, VT Bros, here's the track. It's called 'Log Flume' and feel free to comment. If you didn't know already, we play rock.

https://soundcloud.com/rockmelon/log-flume/s-Jm5Cr

PS. I dunno how long this will stay up for. Probs until the album is released. Which will be soon. Like late August.
