EDIT: I found the video -- http://e3.g4tv.com/e32008/videos/27172/Exclusive_Hands_On_Project_Origin.html

Wow, the game is looking great! I don't know if any videos are up just yet, but Adam Sessler and the lead designer of the game from Monolith talked about the game while some guy played a bit of it, and from everything the designer said, the game sounds like it is going to be awesome. Some of the visuals were especially impressive to me.

Another title to look forward to!

/waits for Asuka to freak out

Ya i simply cant wait for this game. Didnt see the G4 vids yet tho. Sounds like im going to FREAK.

Very excited for this. Post the vid if you can.

No, even though that's pretty nice. On G4's E3 coverage they had the lead designer of Project Origin with them in their studio discussing the game with Adam Sessler as some guy played the game, and you saw plenty of gameplay, which I think looks spectacular. GameSpot has a similar video interview/demo up but it wasn't as good as G4's.

What the shit? I have no idea what was going on in that trailer but I came.

Well, here's a short list of what I liked from the little demo I saw:

- same core gameplay and pacing (awesome action and gunplay...dark...scary...AHHOMGWTFBBQ ALMA!...action...repeat)
- even better visuals and graphics
- continues the original storyline
- ironsights
- varied environments (goodbye identically-textured office hallways, hello outdoor city environments
- some varied gameplay (see: big ****ing mech that you're able to hop in and tear about the streets with)

I think one of the coolest things is that, according to what the lead designer said, the game starts about 20-30 minutes prior to the ending of the first game, which means that we're going to be around to witness that beautiful explosion once again! That blast was epic, and if you disagree, you're "pants-on-head retarded".

Looks very cool.

However...

WHY ARE THE HOSTS ON G4 SUCH DOUCHES?!
Gah. Sorry. Had to get that out there.

I loved Fear no matter what load of yous here think about it.
And that trailer looks awesome, it looks like they've worked on the criticism of the Original. And the blood spatter and headshots look so cool. I can't wait for this.

I ****ing loved FEAR, and I don't like much, so I can't pass up on this one.

Watching that G4 interview, this sounds like it will be much better. The graphics didn't really impress me, but I'll buy this game.

These guys at Monolith are on fire.

Monolith needs to stfu and make another GOOD No One Lives Forever game. NOLF/NOLF2 are incredible and two of my favorite PC games of all time.

I'd much rather they were making a new game instead of a sequel to FEAR. It's too soon. I don't miss FEAR yet. Well, they have their reasons. I think this is going to be good. They claim to have improved upon everything. He said that one of the main things that they didn't have resources for last time was varied environments, and they claim they have really turned that around.

The thing that I liked the most was when he was piloting the mech, and he turned some solider that ran past into a pile of meat with the chaingun.

I want more of the story.

Why would you have to miss something in order to want a sequel?

I don't seem to like episodes or expansion packs. Sequels I like more, but this sequel didn't seem very different. In fact it reminded me a lot of their expansion packs that in my opinion, tarnished the game. I'm not sure if Monolith even made the sequels however.

I'm going to wait until it's being reviewed before I say anything else. I will most probably end up buying this game. FEAR was a lot of fun.

Monolith had jack shit to do with the shit parade that were the expansions. The storyline in the expansions will be completely ignored by project: origin.

I loved the NOLF series too, and would be really happy if Monolith would make NOLF3. This is one of the best games I ever played, next to Quake and Half-Life.

I like what I'm seeing in Project: Origin - I never liked mechs but Shogo was pretty cool, so I guess I shouldn't worry about the mech gameplay in Origin. If we're talking about sequels, I want Blood 3 (taking place in the first half of the 20th century, not like Blood 2), I want Nolf 3, and _then_ I'd like something new ;)

Looks cool can't wait. And it looks like they fixed the one major issue i had with fear: the horrid level design :flame:

Monolith never touched the Expansions, infact they didn't want them to happen. As far as the Expansions are concerned Monolith just going to ignore then as they are not canon. I found Fear to have a good story and i want to find out more, as the expansions really ****ed up the story big time.

this. the expansions messed up alma but then also royally butt ****ed everything in perseus mandate.

I'm not very interested, I could never be arsed to finish FEAR because I just got so tired of the repetitiveness of the game.

FEAR was great fun imo. But I'm not seeing too much here to wow me tbh.

F.E.A.R. rocked. The pacing was nice, the music was done well, the graphics are nice, the AI isn't bad, it scared me a number of times, the gameplay is pretty fun. I'm pretty excited about this, especially their depiction of the destroyed city.

after finishing F.E.A.R. yesterday (the joys of $15 used games) i'm thoroughly excited for this game. looks like they fixed all my qualms with the first one.

and FEAR Files is on clearance at Ye Local Best Buye. what's so horrible about the expansions?

what's so horrible about the expansions?

They just fail to be anywhere as good as the original. The AI has been dumbed down. The story has been ****ed up and is totally irrelevant now. , the scare sequences are few and are pathetic. They were just made to cash in on the franchise and are really poor, they are not made by Monolith. The level design is still boring going though basements etc. If you can get them cheap then pick up a copy, they are not to bad to go though once, but you won't have nearly as much fun with them as with FEAR.
