If I play on my PS2 scratched games it will destroy that razor thing that reads the DVD or it will start ot scratch other games??

But if it still reads it and it has lag or it crasher is that a problem?

My PS2 has read scratched discs and that, and no problems occured to the PS2 itself.

Cool then if I play I scrached game it wont be any problem then.

There's the chance it won't play.

It wont hurt the PS2 at all. The game you are trying to play might not work though.

I remember a guy I knew had a Resident Evil disk with a huge chunk missing from it. It played perfectly up until the last boss, and then it crashed.

Huh?

It reads the disc with a laser. You can't scratch a laser.

Oh fkn rofl! Dude, if you have a RAZOR inside your PS2, then I suggest you have more problems than just playing games. Most (ok ALL) PS2's use a LASER to read the disks. Perhaps yours was made by Freddy Krueger?

And bat hat you're wrong - damn straight you can "scratch the laser": that's what most common people call scratching the LENS of the laser. However, he was asking if it will scratch other GAMES, not the laser. So you really failed twice there.

This thread wins.

OP: Short answer - no, you won't damage other games by using scratched ones.

Long answer - don't use overly scratched games in your console, because it makes the laser etc work much harder to read the disk, and will make it wear out quicker.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Also, at which point is the disc coming into contact with the lens?

The tiny motor that moves the laser has to work harder to try and track the scratched disc, but it won't affect the laser's life expectancy.

I doubt it will wear out the motor much faster than normal use, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, this is exactly what I meant - the motor would wear out faster, not exactly the laser etc. I decided not to get too technical however - we are talking to someone that believed RAZORS read the disk in hi PS2. Saying the laser would wear out seemed sufficient. And yes, all that re-reading scratched disks WILL wear out the motor/laser assembly faster. PS2's are especially known for it.
